Let someone build just one far out sports car, and his car could well be on the cover of many enthusiasts books and soon become a subject of coffee breaks around the country. This was the dream of John DeLorean...... um I think you got more than that. This is a beautiful car which has the engineering of a car well ahead of its time.
It looks kind of cramp. DeLorean was 6’4” which is why he designed the interior to be so spacious because otherwise he wouldn’t be able to drive his own car.
*Shows how beautiful the Delorean is* "now you tell me, if you had this car sitting on your showroom floor, do you think you would have people coming in to look? We believe it will be a natural traffic builder, were out to sell our own cars, but in the process we may move a few for the other guys too" now thats a line to sell a car to investors
If dealer were on board with this, it would have been a success as they were not asking them to abandon a brand they already sold. The DMC 12 would have brought in customers to the dealership just to look at it and sell the other brand as well. Very good strategy on John's part. Most of his dream did come true, just bad market timing.

@Womb Raider : Not a conman. The car was hit.with having to deal with 20K US million less funding by the UK Government. Who were shutting down MG and Triumph's TR 7 and 8 at the time.
Are you sure about that it still would be several years before technology to get around the vibration dampening would exists. And even then it would probably still be in The evolutionary stage
It's a shame how the production model version had merely 130HP. To put it in perspective: a 1990 Honda Accord LX had 125HP. Hence, DeLorean's original production version turned out to be a probably to me a: D- 'sports car' B+ 'regular car' ...and obviously a very good, A+ 'first car' for a high schooler.
Hell no. John DeLorean wasn’t a great businessman but he was a damn good engineer who got dicked over by tons of factors out of his control. Elon though; richest man in the world but can’t build quality cars. DeLorean had his quality control issues mostly solved within the first 2000 units, Tesla has sold hundreds of thousands yet still suffers from baffaling issues.
DeLorean probably should have watched this film before building the car. "We believe sports cars buyers are individualistic" -- then proceeded to make every car visually identical with the stainless steel body. They should have never used a V6.
The V6 was an emergency rushed in later in the design. There had to be built and sold cars the investors wanted to see some of their money back. No other car is ever developed in such a short period.
I hastened down to see one when it first appeared at a dealership in Portland, OR (they only had one). The quality I observed was quite poor for a premium car. The glazing was defective, the positional matching of body panels was poor. I could not examine the interior. A piece of shit.
Odd how so may features changed in the actual production model. Amazing to see the prototype.
This is what makes UA-cam great!!! thanks for uploading !!

This movie is a jewel, thanks for uploading it!!!!
With the theme music playing, I can almost reach for it touching the screen with tears in my eyes ..*Sniff ..
What a gem!
I do love the Dash Design in the prototype
I just love the interior but I don’t know if it’d feel as spacious as the final car

Great marketing. This is a very encouraging video for prospective investors.
So glad the final product did not turn out like he prototype
Old school promo. Nice.
I LOVE THIS MUSIC
The music at the end is awesome. Wish I could find it.
SuperFrankieOSX it sounds James Bond like
@@MDQDZINE I believe library I am hunting on the case.

@Womb Raider you obviously know little of the economic issues of the time. Like was said, bad timing ..and underfunded.

This is pretty cool I'm glad I got to see this
Wow this video is in a lot better condition than the other one. The other one is so slowed down that the guy's voice is slurred.
R.i.p. JOHN Z.
The audio and sound effects of this video are creepy
shawoo I swear the music around 14:00 is in the style James Bond themes
Typical of the Era.
I like how it’s shaky like Dr. Katz.
If they put the rotary engine like they did in this prototype car the whole brand might be saved

windows look different

Not one mention of the guy who made John DeLoren's dream a reality, almost, Colin Chapman.
This may have been made before Colin Chapman's involvement. The technical information in the film suggests this also.

Was this really John Delorean or a family run YT channel or is it a fan channel?
He died in 2005 and the channel was made in 2007
👍
He wasn't alive in 2012
Do Delorean enthusiasts respect Elon Musk and the Tesla? Just curios.
no.
