Watching your videos is my current method of decompressing before and after work. (and if we weren't so busy, it would be during work too) 🔑

I haven’t seen you read many memoirs, so I’m curious how you feel about The Glass Castle. For me personally, it’s the book that got me into reading. It was a recommendation to me when I had no idea where to begin and intimated by the amount of options. It showed me that books don’t have to be scary or difficult and was a great first step. Very easy read and showed me the fun of reading.
Your videos help me and others in the same way. Showing it’s ok to try any and all types of books. That it’s ok to stop or not like a book. Showing that we don’t have to over complicate what we read. As long as we’re having fun and keeping an open mind, any book can have an effect on someone. Thanks for positively impacting my reading journey. Keep on keeping on.

Thanks for the kind words, reading should always be #1 fun.
I try to stay away from memoirs honestly, most seem like celebrities tell all/ puff pieces. But the glass castle does seem different. I’m gonna keep an open mind and hope I’m proven wrong. Keep on keeping on🤘🏽

    hi, friend.
how wonderful to hear your enthusiasm for shakespeare. two more next week? score! you've seen quite a few plays this summer. that's awesome. AND a shakespeare mug? boy, you've got it bad for will ;)
dude, this elric stuff is driving me crazy. i feel like the universe is telling me something. as you know, i'm a big fan of the outlaw bookseller who absolutely loves moorcock. i've never read anything by moorcock. why? who knows but probably because it seems like fantasy and i prefer science fiction. mind you, i read a lot of fantasy so that doesn't make sense but whatever. i see though that the outlaw bookseller has a video this week about moorcock and where to start with elric if you are a beginning. i'm going to admit defeat and pick up an elric book next time i see one.
looks like you hit the jackpot with your short stories this week. leguin does have some amazing stories out there. i remember "the matter of seggri" in particular which i loved. she has so many awesome ones! leguin was the real deal.
looks like you got some great books there. disch is amazing! talk about an underrated writer. i will be very curious to know what you think of them once you read them.
oh, you reminded me of a great animal story i read recently. did i tell you about it already? can't remember! it's called my stupid intentions. this story blew me away. one of the best books i've read this year and maybe ever. yep, i thought it was that good. i got a copy through interlibrary loan because i couldn't find any copies. thank the gods for the public library!
as a former teacher of the deaf, that true biz book sounds a little interesting. i'd never heard any of those unfortunate details about alexander graham bell. damn
i don't recall commenting on the three-body problem. i read it a while back and didn't like it enough to read the other two books. it's one of those where i keep wondering what everyone else sees because i sure as hell don't see what the big deal is. but, you know: art
the children of time was good and i read the sequel (can't recall the name now) which, as i recall, i also liked but never got to the third one. tchaikovsky is a funny writer. i read the first two books of his latest trilogy (the final architecture it's called) and just had to stop. the protagonist was just so unlikable. ugh
so happy to see you with johnson's book of dickinson's poems. that's more like it! remember that with poetry it's good to read more than once. let the poem simmer in your mind and come back and read it again (and again) so that meaning can blossom. read 1510 if you like but, my gosh, so many wonderful poems. enjoy!
i'm not going to say much about the news. i'm tired after my first day back at work and it's all so depressing and demoralizing. best to ignore it! ;) however, it did remind me of two things. first, if you have time, check out Sabby Sabs youtube channel and her clip on that trump meeting with black journalists. sabby is part of the revolutionary black network and i love them. second, 10,000 maniacs, a group from the 80s, has a great song titled poison in the well. just goes to show that nothing much as changed in all that time
okay, that's enough for now. take care and until next time....

      hi friend
"how happy is the little stone" already got me thinking! keep the recommendations coming lol
im worried about starting the children of time, after the expanse , and the 3BP, maybe new SF just isnt for me. I'm looking forward to reading Disch crazy how Great writers just kinda fade away. Let's bring them back!!!
True biz had a very good message and i learned a lot, but story wise what a let down. i havent looked it up but they hint at the founding fathers hating the disabled too (not surprised)
i got my stupid intentions in my ebay wish list and just waiting to add a few more books so i can get a discount. better to just buy in bulk now lol
i saw the same outlaw bookseller video about moorcock, so sad that hes gonna be making less book buying videos but i agree with him life is too short. but he was talking about a moorcock interview and that sounds awesome!! YES take the hints and start the Eternal Champions series
i just subbed to sabby sab. You were right about Jimmy Dore, he had my personal favorite Richard wolfe on his show this week. i checked out the song too, what a sad song for a band called 10k maniacs lol i didnt expect it
take care friends, rest is important!!🗝

@@PoorPersonsBookReviewer i'm right there with you, buddy. i just canNOT get into much sf that is new. it just all seems like garbage. sorry (not sorry!) but that's how i feel.
disch is my new fave and i hope you like him too. if not, then just pass along the books. it might turn out to be one of those treasure finds for someone else. hey, that's how it works.
oh, you are going to love my stupid intentions. i'd almost bet money on that. almost ;)
yeah, i really got to get on the moorcock stuff. can't wait for the outlaw bookseller to interview him. that will be a treat
sabby is awesome just like jimmy. they help to keep me sane about the news. i'm surrounded by family and friends who don't seem to see things the way i do. it seems obvious to me so i find it very frustrating but you know what they say: there's none so blind as those that will not see!
10k maniacs are awesome. listen to more of their stuff if you can. i was just listening to the big parade from the same album as poison in the well on my drive home from work. sad but good. know what i mean?
okay, time to get some rest. have a good one and until next time...

Children of Time is one of those beloved books that I’m so afraid I’m gonna hate (which seems to happen a lot). I’m glad I could affect your tbr and get you to read hamlet. To be or not to be 🥹🗝️

I would definitely understand it, haven't read the sequel, but it might gives you some thought processes that you didn't have before.
You've achieved what school couldn't haha

🗝 In most of the Eternal Champion stories Moorcock wraps it up with a couple of the variants showing up to assist whoever's story it is, lol. So you'll see that happen a few more times.

hello! i like the shelves! i'm not keen on star ratings tbh but i agree we dont need to give 3 stars all bc someone wrote a book!

Hi, thanks for watching. Curating my home library is my favorite hobby, it’s like a movable piece of art.
Star ratings get even worse when ppl start talking about half stars in their reviews 🫠 just give me a good old 👍🏽👎🏽 rating

As per poetry, you should look into Walt Whitman. He is described as "The Grey Poet", or, the " Poet of America", his poems are very good. 👍

@@PoorPersonsBookReviewer whitman is the antithesis of dickinson! in her poems meaning is compressed whereas with whitman there is no compression whatsoever. makes for an interesting comparison as they were contemporary poets. whitman was popular and celebrated but dickinson was unknown. like i said, very interesting comparisons...or maybe i should say contrasts!
