Good advice on grease packing ang setting the seal. I've installed bearings before but I learned something new today. Thank you. I need to do that on my drivers front wheel bearing on a 72 C10 P/U (install new bearing and race too).

It's been a few years since I've seen an open wheel bearing like this, nice to review.

youd be amazed at the level some people will go to tell you the right way to put a seal in. This fualker actually talked about measuring how deep it was installed to know how far to install it :-I

Who needs a fancy aluminum seal driver? But they do come in different size pretty colors. 😁

Enjoyed your video. It’s been awhile. Just doing preventative maintenance, repacking bearings, then bleed brakes and adding new brake fluid.

@@ozzstars_cars I'm learning to do my own mechanical work after the last two guys who worked on my rear wheel bearings and seals told me all is good and I'm all set. Two days later my left rear wheel n hub came loose while driving. Luckily I got off the road before losing the wheel. Seems mechanic forgot the cotter pin after putting on spindle nut and it came loose. Had another outfit double check his work on rear right and was told it all looks intact and ok. A month later the entire wheel and hub came all the way off on the interstate at night. I skidded with Sparks flying bout got stopped safely. A scarey nightmare for sure! Soo from now on,Im doing my own work. Thank you for making yur vids consise and understandable. Keep up the great work. MUCH appreciated!!👍

Damn, buddy - I'm big-time slacking on your vids! Sorry about that. I hate how UA-cam stopped email notification of new videos. I've lost touch with a ton of aviation channels because of that, and its made it super difficult to keep track of all my subs. My phone doesn't make a sound when there's a new notification, and everything gets buried. UA-cam sucks! First world problems, lol.
I agree - definitely a great group of guys out here in UA-camLand. Always love reading the comments on my own, and everyone else's videos. Some gems in there! Some useful tips, and the occasional dirty joke, HAHAHA!
Good stuff, Glen! I don't see many of these anymore. Nobody has 2wd around here, and all the old stuff is long gone. My Grand Marquis is the only vehicle in my fleet with this style bearing and seal. I filmed that job last year - still haven't got to that yet. I did the ENTIRE front end, even control arm bushings, steering box, and caliper pistons, so there's a TON of footage to weed through. No clue how to release that one - could be 3 or 4 different topics, and my Marquis vids don't get many views. Some day I'll get to it!
Funny, those bearings are about the same size as the ones in our Grand Marquis! I should just put a hitch on that and use it as a second truck, for when my Silverado breaks down again, LOL. That ol' girl I can count on - the Silverado, not so much. Still on the OE engine and transfer case in the Silverado - either could fail at any moment! Oh what a feeling, lol (wasn't that a Toyota ad in the day?). The Marquis is on its original driveline (and electric fuel pump!) at 35 years / 274k miles - so far, no signs of slowing down yet!
Great stuff man - you're a way better teacher than I'll ever be! You and the family have a Merry Christmas, Glen.

I'm in the same boat as you with the YTube sub notifications. I guess that's just how it goes.
My 1987 Ford Ranger still has both original fuel pumps, only 140k miles. When Fords were built the old school way. Funny how the 2011 E350 still uses the same wheel seal/bearing engineering as a vehicle from the 60's-70's. I guess some things are just that good.
Keep up the good work Smitty!
