I believe this Stemco wheel hub seal is installed as a single part assembly . Stemco Guardian onto the spindle with a tube style seal installer Stemco Voyager and Discover into the wheel hub with a step style seal installer Please accept this as constructive criticism .
Yes, you can just use oil, but I do like to pack them with grease so I know on initial startup they won’t fail because part of it was dry. The grease will wash out from the gear oil eventually, and it won’t hurt a thing..
Usually if you have to change the wheel seal I clean and repack the bearings, bearings last quite a long time if they aren’t run dry. If the gear oil in the hub gets black I change the oil, every couple years.

From what I have learned over the years oil bath is oil bath you don't use grease for a oil bath bearing

So where did you get that little grease gun?
If you go to a small motors shop, ask for a chainsaw bar tip greaser. That is what it is intended for.
What's the torque on the outer Nut.
If I remember correctly, it is 250ft lbs..
