Props for not letting your hard work become cheap wallpaper on Apple TV+'s 2nd page Here's to the future of the SuperZeros (and hopefully Six-Gun Gorilla)
First rule of crowd funding is that, that money is also technically your profit too. Assume no sales will come after. I apply this rule mainly to the campaigns that go viral and get 10x the money they asked for and try to make 10x the product. They either fail completely or once they’ve finished the product, realise they’re back at square one with no money to make another project with. Avoid going over the 50k.
As a poor college student, I didn't have any money to send towards the project, but I went around and told nearly all my family members about this project, including my 85 year old grandpa, who I think found the whole thing really nostalgic. So while I can't pay you with money, I can tell you that you brought joy to an old man like my family has never seen before. I can't wait for more Catman!
Even if this never goes viral, a animated movie being made on this small of a budget will be a landmark achievement in the indie space. Everything else has either been picked up by a big studio, is made by a small studio that still has a fair amount of cash, or was kickstarted for at minimum 4 times this amount.
I can't tell you how excited I am for the Cat-Man movie. He's easily my favorite of the "Superzeroes" and you, Ian, and co. did an awesome job with the pilot. Also, don't give up hope on a larger series. I know the economy isn't the bst right now (I wish I could have given more) so another Kickstarter in the future certainly could work, I think. Congrats!
I do not have the funds to help you at this time, but your tenacity and courage has truly inspired me to continue with my own vision. I am pryaing for your health as well. God bless.
I wasn't able to contribute, but I'm so glad other people were and it got funded! I'll try to share it, because it needs to be seen! The pilot was amazing, I loved it a lot and it actually helped me getting over an artblock and back into drawing. I can't wait to see the movie and I'll be back to rewatch the pilot probably a few times!
I hope once it's out you're able to sell physical copies, even if it's just burned on some dvdrs It's never too early to worry about media preservation so your hard work doesn't dissappear into a digital void in 5 years
I gotta good feeling that "The Sensational Cat-Man" will be one of the indie animation pioneers & heavy hitters, Held to the same high regard as Lackadaisy & T.A.D.C.! I can't wait to see it; Great job on reaching your goal!
Unfortunately I was not able to pitch in to the efforts due to finances, however I’m still incredibly excited for what you have in store with this project and others!
I remember being a kid creating comic book characters...Catman was my main hero. Awesome to see another artists take on the same character! I also saw Catman was a small villian in the Batman universe.
AUSTIN! I just bought a Cat-Man tshirt. I had wanted to help with the Kickstarter. I was dumb and didn't remember funds are not withdrawn right away. By the time it was, I was broke. I was so embarrassed. But thanks to tax refund, I had a bit of spare $ right now. It ends up being more than the piddly amount I was able to afford back then. I loved watching the Cat-Man video. I love watching all your other videos. I admire you and believe in what you are doing. I wish you continued success!
So many people complain about the powers-that-be in Hollywood, but you're one of the few who actually stands up and says, "Screw you; I'll do it myself." A lot of people would say what you're trying to do here is impossible, or worse, pointless. But you haven't given up. You hit the nail on the head: not everything has to be a global multi-million-dollar franchise. Sometimes something special shared between a few dozen, hundred, or thousand people can be all the more rewarding. You are my favorite UA-camr, Mr. McConnell; God bless you.
But unlike Toby Fox, he won't be liaising with the masters like Masahiro Sakurai. You my say this is "rare", but companies like Platinum Games do the same thing yet only get lost in the shuffle and mixed in, if they succeed enough to wear the big boy pants and be "giant corporations" too. Even Game Freak is utlimately a pretty small studio that simply LiCENSED their Pokemon IP to merchandisers without pocketing that moeny for greater GAME development. But fans want cheap studios like Palworld to run with that marketing without funding the license, which, if Pokemon toys had DONE that, there would not BE a huge fandom for Pokemon games whose money all goes to Walmart shelf space being taxed up the ass for US wealth. Pokemon games wouldn't sell beacuse all the plushies would ahve been off-putting China trash to fund the games instead of creators.
Had I not lost my job around the time of the Kickstarter, I would've been #566. Oh well, I'm happy to support through consumption and word of mouth. Keep up the brilliant work, Austin!
IDK, putting the next thing on streaming for no money, it feels dumb, but it maybe gives it a much bigger audience and possibly that means the next one could actually command the money needed to pay for it. Maybe not!
I am excited for this project and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Spider Queen. I'm glad i backed the project and am looking forward to it. I do, however, want that cat-man shirt. I think it's neat.
0:54 - NFL Game Pass didn't know what they were missing out on! They could have topped Marvel with the greatness of the Super Zeros. But really... I am excited for both movies!
There's been a huge interest in amazing independent and crowd-funded stuff lately, and I think it's so refreshing for the industry. Be it Digital Circus, Lackadaisy, or the Superzeroes projects. And for me, it's the Wingfeather Saga fantasy series, which adapts an already phenomenal book series (I know you saw the pitch for that a few years back!) If you found time to review that, I would be delighted... ;)
your videos might not be popular by viewership, nor admittedly are they the _best_ thing I've ever seen per my tastes, but your resilience to just keep doing things and quite consistently even after underwhelming results over the years is quite inspiring my man It's quite wholesome to see your projects finally getting a sizeable chunk of money/returns to keep them afloat
This is awesome news, Austin! I loved your Spider Queen novel and the Cat-Man pilot and I’m eager for more from the Superzeroes universe. Unfortunately my funds are a bit limited at the moment. I can’t be a big dollar donor but I might be able to slip you a few bucks. Let me see what I can do.
I really do hope that your project does super well because me and my team are actually looking at your pilot and we're really enjoying what we're seeing and we're willing to support you the best way we can in fact speaking of these characters were actually making our own cartoon that's meant to celebrate a bunch of Sonic and Sega entire history but the characters also run into other superheroes that exist in the world and one of them happens to be the spider Queen and catman and the best part is they're only just going to be a prized of cameos until we really decide to do something with them in the future but aside from that we're going to do the best we can to support you because every Creator should support one another Our team hopes that your project does super well cuz we have faith in you 🙏 Special Thanks Arnold Stark 123
I'm so glad that your sticking to this the idea is great and I love small made Movies and shows. I'm so glad to see more catman is coming I can't wait!
Is there anyway we can get the Kickstarter opened up again? I really wanted to support every part of the Superzero universe, but I missed the first Kickstarter campaign. Please open it up again so that I can contribute.
if you want the most accurate look, i'd reccomend looking into CPC London who can pretty much make it look like it was shot on film by... printing it onto reels of film.
Congrats to you and the people who are helping bring this to the screen. It might not be viral, but the fact that the project is continuing beyond a single episode made is already an achievement not many can lay claim to.
I WILL NEVER BE TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT CAT MAN DUNA NA NA NA NA -> Addam West in fairly odd parents was the last time I saw this character! Keep being amazing! Also I'm sorry inflation and a series of unfortunate events made it so I could not financially contribute, I'm so sorry if I ever get the money I will support you!
Can I maybe buy discs of Superzeroes feature films? UA-cam's user experience is going down the drain fast, so I can't see myself following the project on here much longer
Dude, that looks so much like a cheesy tv show we used to have in Belgium in the 70’s called De Kat (The Cat translated) his costume looks very similar.
Austin I couldn’t be more proud of you if you were my own son you never gave up I wish you well I really believe you’re on to something really big!!!!!
I subbed right when you dropped the video where you came up with catman, and so when I heard you actually released a pilot for the show I feel inclined to watch and support anyway I can.
I’m broke as heck so I can’t help financially, but I just wanna say that you are awesome and my favorite UA-camr. I love your enthusiasm for just creating stuff no matter how random is seemingly dumb it is.
I am extremely disappointed in you. You had the perfect opportunity to make a cat toy joke with your merchandise, but you missed it. This is an outrage! In all honesty though, keep up the spectacular work!
I don't see how creating a feature-length movie is the more realistic or acheivable option in comparison to doing a season Instead of a singular, massive, 90-ish minute animated project it seems like it would have been a lot more feasible to do 6 - 10 eleven-minute smaller scale stories. Especially considering with a television type format you can allocate resources differently depending on the complexity of each individual episode instead of having to keep everything consistent across a 90-minute run time
wow just wowl guess it's better this way you guys get to keep your creation 🤔you can always take to film festival l sho a lot of people will really love the nostalgiac feeling of watch an old cartoon on a Saturday morning
Look at the story of "Final Space" which got picked up by Conan O'Brien's group. By the time it was all said and done, the creator was trying to buy back rights to do a comic book to at least finish the story.
Okay so I’m so happy I found this because I been working on my own universe for a while now and it’s makin me more willing to try and get it out and I’d love to try and work with someone like animators or artist or writers I have artistic backgrounds but I’m always open for suggestions and feedback
I know another piece of animation that cost 50k.

What are you talking about

How about an old school serial, with 10 minute episodes and cliffhangers? NEXT TIME, ON CATMAN!
Also, TONS of behind the scenes to wet the appetite!

I need this to be real bro I need more 40s serials
This is really a great idea.
