Your content is on a completely different level than anyone else on these games (and films like the Matrix). Thank you so much, you really deserve hundreds of thousands of subs. Keep it up!
OMG YES! I discovered your channel yesterday, and loved the first part, was jsut sad that I'll have tow ait so muuuch for the part 2 , and waking up here's my gift ! Thanks a lot!
That's Kojima repeating this theme of, as I recall him putting it at some point, war being like the snake eating its own tale. That's what Big Boss in MG2 and Liquid Snake's lines here represent. Kojima's games are about fighting for something so you don't get lost and end up like them.
I love your videos beyond words. Watching this and finally unravelling potential themes i may have missed playing through once or twice is always a nice discovery, and seeing that other people also engage in this kind of stuff really makes me feel a part of something much bigger than many of us might realise. Keep up the good work
4:56 - if I remember right Solid Snake witnessed another character's death in MG2, a woman named Gustava, who's Natasha in original version. Dunno whether it's relevant, but it's good to see older MGs mentioned and not forgotten. 9:38 - ...yeah, right, me tryin' to keep in mind original series plot before MGS4 happened. >_< Also, wonder how things would have changed if Bad ending was canon. Oh well.
good job with the video logosSteve, if possible can you make a video talking about tomokazu fukushima and how he understood kojima ideas and themes and translated them properly in game as he is just as important as kojima when talking the about the themes of the mgs series, anyway great analysis as always from your "number 1 fan".
That's not quite the conclusion I have come to as there's not a lot of info about Fukushima. Kojima claimed in an interview after MGS2 that Fukushima only writes a little of the codec dialogue. If you have a source that says anything else about him I'd love to see it. I might make a video about him on a second channel I still have yet to make.
@@LogosSteve hello i'm surprise that you responded decided to respond to my commit i'm grateful for that, and to answer your question i don't have any real proof to support my clam but when you examine the quality of mgs 1,2,and 3 and compare them to mgs 4 and 5 there is a big difference in terms of how the theme are presented and how they are told to the player, i hope this should give you some idea as to what i was trying get across sorry for taking up your time.
@@Sam-gu5kz while I generally agree with you I think Peace Walker throws a wrench in that trend and for that matter I have a bit of criticism of MGS3's themes compared to 1 and 2 that I haven't gotten to so I think things aren't that clear cut but like I said I'll talk about it in time.
Still soooo shook that your incredible series hasn't gotten more attention. I come back to rewatch these videos often.
That Otacon segment made me tear up. Never really appreciated what I was missing with having not played these games at all growing up around that time
