If you overflowed the day counter and played the game in such a way that you collected the last treasure in the game on Day 0, would the game think its a new record?
I basically did exactly that at the start of my most recent video, though I didn't even bother making a path, I simply napsacked up there after I plucked a buried Pikmin.
@@grassdigger8695 I doubt this will be answered considering how late I am, but what if you used these pikmin on day 1 to collect a treasure? Would it end the day?
The day wouldn't end, the day is programmed to end when the first aboveground treasure in Valley of Repose is collected. The day doesn't have to be day 1 in order for the day to end, so the 2 are completely disconnected.
Wow, just by taking over 1000 years to slowly end days, you can overflow into 1 and have no time counter??? That sounds very helpful! Will try sometime.
Papa! It's been 4 billion days, and though I am old, I still want to see you again and go on an adventure together! Promise you will papa! PROOOOOOOOOOOOMISE!
I wonder, what would occur if you were to pay the debt on Day 1 after overflowing? I can't recall it ever being bought up (except in another comment in reference to Day 0), so I'm guessing nothing special. I'm guessing the same applies to simply finishing it off while in the Wistful Wild too (presuming you hacked your way into that area and then paid it off). What about leaving Pikmin in the ground and then going to Day 1 in overflow (specifically in the Valley of Repose), would anything interesting happen there? Or even paying off the debt with the first aboveground treasure there (on Day 1 overflowed or otherwise)?
...The stats of 5,000+ years to get to 4,000,000,000+ in-game Days intrigues me. If we are to assume that Day 1 is played as normal (what would be the quickest time for Day 1 in that regard, even comparing "waiting for Flowers", which would add time anyway I imagine, to "just using Leafs"?), and every other day is just a simple "start, end, statistics, redo" (I suppose Day 2 will still be a tad longer than Day 3+), assuming the shortest time is spent on all of these subsequent days...how long would it take in days, hours, minutes and even seconds? Even if you have basic statistics (such as a single Day from Day 3 and onwards taking...3 minutes 5 seconds, for example), I would still like to see them and would happily attempt at calculating the shortest time it would take to reach the total time like this. ...Of course, in this scenario though, this would only give you access to Valley of Repose (along with only 20 Reds and the 2nd Paper Bag not being crushed).
If your days lasted only 1 minute, that would be 1440 Pikmin Days per Day. 4,200,000,000/1400 = 3 Million which would be an approximation of the number of real world days it would take if days took 1 minute to start & end. 365,000 Days is 1,000 years. The developers were wise when creating the maximum day count in Pikmin 2.
@@WaterKirby1994 Ah; thanks for the clarification! I should've taken all that into consideration as well, however I wanted to make the comment so that I could eventually come back to it later on and do the proper calculations - I did have it in the back of my mind, but never had the time to look into it myself. I knew what calculations to do, it was just gathering the proper numbers and such; it just seemed odd to me at the time that such a cap would be impossible, but then at the time I also hadn't done the calculations yet and had therefore underestimated the amount.
Yep! You can enter with any Pikmin. Of course, if you try to enter the cave on day 1, then you have to have the Pikmin buried in advance, since you can't access Onions. But you can also enter the cave on day 2.
True, but you probably should build the bridge and destroy the poison gate beforehand. Otherwise, crazy wollywog superjump shenanigans would be required to reach the yellow.
Not if you don't have a Pikmin to carry you ;) another option is just leaving a Pikmin in the ground so that you can be carried, like I did in my most recent video.
I know pikmin 1 is very different than this game, but what happens if you try to hack the day counter to go above 30? does it just force you to watch the ending cutscene?
The game functions normally, but if you end the day, you will get the ending cutscene. If you switch the day counter when the day is ending, after Olimar gets in the S.S. Dolphin, the ending will play right after
Now I wonder what happens if you make the poko counter overflow? (maybe you could repay the debt twice)? Also I finally made a video about Bulbmin in Versus mode: ua-cam.com/video/iWB1AKf4Q-s/v-deo.html

3:56 "But Mommy is very, very mad at you", that is to be expected when you're gone 4,294,967,295 days
The Black Hole Loan Sharks sure are generous waiting 4,294,967,295 days and still only holding the President hostage
Haha, very true! You'd think they would have bounty hunters on PNF-404 before then.
Its also a surprise they dont run into the Kopai explorers during their time there.
@Somebody Likes Bacon because the koppaite explorers landed on the other side of pnf 404
thats why none of the pikmin 2 areas are in pikmin 3
Olimar and Louie spend 11.7 million years on PNF-404
The player spends 106,000 years playing pikmin 2 (aka literally hell)
Ujadani my beloved
Try clearing the path to wild yellow Pikmin on day 0 and get them on day 1 and see if that does anything weird!

What if you leave Pikmin sprouts in the ground? Can those be picked on Day 1?
Yep! There are a lot of topics to talk about with overflowing the day counter, but I will show what happens in the video after the next one.
Day 4294967295? Yeah, Hocotate Freight is fucked.
now THATS interesting!
But first, we have to talk about parallel timelines
If you ever want to start over your life, just live for over 4 billion days and your day counter will overflow.

@@probablywyattj9215 I suppose so! Hopefully the Hocotations have some anti-aging cream.
