12:26 This reminds me of how when I 100%ed the final area getting that one treasure I just used the infinite rush to run around the whole map until the day ended
I tried to beat the game with as few pikmin types unlocked as possible, and I was actually able to retrieve ALL of the castaways and treasures with just reds and purples. (Purples are required to beat the game because of sublevel 16 in cavern for a king) The treasures that you said required flying pikmin i was able to collect by abusing oatchi's swallow technique. By repeatedly swallowing and spitting out a treasure it will move a bit. And if oatchi falls of a ledge with something in his mouth he will respawn back on stage at the last stable ground that he was standing on. So if you move the treasure towards an edge that you can fall off of, and then have oatchi jump from the main area to on top of the treasure, then have oatchi swallow the treasure and fall at the same time, he will respawn on stage with it still in his mouth, and he can carry it back to the ship. One treasure is a joy con that is on a raised platform that is normally only accessible with yellows or winged pikmin, but a similar trick to the one shown in the video for getting russ with only reds works to get pikmin up there. (by the way i found it easier to do these weird janky throws with motion controls on because it let me get more extreme throwing angles than normally possible. Also make sure that you aren't riding oatchi because for some reason you throw higher while not riding him.) Once your pikmin start to carry it they will just circle in place, but if you call them off of it while the treasure is closer to the edge than when it started, you can slowly move it off of the platform. Then you can use the same trick described above to get it to the mainland. There is also a pumpkin in the first area that looks like it requires yellows to pull down a bridge, but can be collected with just oatchi with the swallow ability, some ultra spicy spray, and some patience. If you use oatchi's rush while he is standing on the very edge of a platform and he is tilted up in a weird way, then he will go flying through the air, even more so if you are using the ultra spicy spray. To get past the bridge you can use the nearby bricks as a ledge and then VERY precisely angle oatchi toward the corner of the crate, you can get oatchi to the other side. From there you can swallow and spit out the pumpkin until it is off of the platform. (You can't carry it off normally because there is a raised edge along the crate. Also the equipment that gives a speed boost might be require, but I never tested without it.) Finally there is a cave in the final area that has two paper cranes stuck in some mud and are supposed to require flying pikmin to get. But if you use oatchi's rush off of the lip of the nearby bridge, you can hit the cranes, causing them to move slightly. Do this until they are close enough to jump onto and swallow to move them a bit faster. Then finally pick them up out of the shallow mud (Also when i did this a weird visual glitch happened where the cranes reappeared where they originally were when oatchi brought the to the ship, and then they flew from there all the way to the ship.) Some of these tricks would probably help reduce the total number of pikmin needed to beat the game.
Can confirm. It seems you only need Reds for Fire Starters and Purples for heavy treasures/the one boss. Also Blues if you want to get the onion in Serene Shores, which seems to have no way to get Oatchi up to.
@@Real_Bossclips Actually I think you can get the blue onion in the first area with only reds and oatchi. What you do is have oatchi build the climbing wall, then use an ice bomb to freeze the water. While it's frozen get enough reds across and up the wall to carry the onion and get oatchi on the ledge with the spicy berries. Have the red Pikmin carry the onion to the lower ledge that oatchi is on, then use another ice bomb to carry it across the water. You might need to use an ultra spicy spray or 2-player mode to get it to shore before the ice melts though. As another note, I was actually able to get oatchi to that higher section once by stacking a ton of berries from the plant on the ledge, then jumping off of them and onto the higher ledge. @@mcdonaldoldsLike they said, even if they skipped the card they'd still need a pikmin to open the safe. And I'm not sure if doing the safe at night would be a viable option.
to anyone calling out that using glow pikmin should still count: the game itself repeatedly calls out that they may not actually be pikmin(even listing their family as unknown instead of pikmin), they have no onion, their bodies are made up of some sort of energy which isent even technically alive(or indeed possibly even matter since they can phase threw it), nor can they truly die, and while they resemble pikmin its possible this is a mimicry, as we see with their energy ball attack their bodies are are amorphous and can change shape and even combine together, so doesent count
AMAZING VIDEO! I cant wait to get myself further into these crazy limitations using stuff like the Drone and all the crazy items. I'm happy I could help with this, and thankyou a ton for mentioning me here. Pikminphobes rise up!! Pikmin 4 is now called 4...
hey, been doing a run of this myself but without the pebble pitcher, and heres a few things best spots for material farming have to be in sun speckled terrace. second base has a deposit instantly that refreshes everyday. optimal with +3 dig you can get 28 material a day you will need Pikmin in a few spots or else the game is physically impossible Tutorial Area, of course, you need them for the first 3 treasures (Without Pebble Pitcher, You will need 1 Ice Pikmin to rescue Russ, I dont think there's another way to get a rescue unless you do that, no ice blasts are available until 1500 sparklium and you need to 100% a cave to even farm some.) Hero's Hideaway: Unlocking the safe requires at least 1 Pikmin, ive tried *everything* else to get it to change numbers and it didn't work. In the final cave: There are 2 metal sheets that you need to bring down with 20 Pikmin to progress. There is no other option to go forward and it sucks. I decided to use glow pikmin for that, since it's an item technically and they cant be added to my total after im done. Also, no playing cards are technically required. Oatchi can grab two of three on his own so you can just guess the last digit. Final Boss: You can only deal damage with bombs and items. Oatchi can't pull his tail down to make him hittable. Im unsure if the pebble pitcher can do any work there but I'm on the boss now, and I have to farm materials just to beat him. I am on day 93 and with the aforementioned 28 material a day its gonna be a while. Final Phase of the boss you can only consistently hit with Trackonators which only increases the time spent. I wanna exchange intel because I'm the only person I know that's been doing this :D
I'll have to remember on repeat playthroughs to try to do Night Expeditions for new areas first. Having all the bridges and stuff built on my first Day Expeditions would be a huge head start and help me get to more caves before sunset.
I assumed this would be an Oatchi-only run which did not sound appealing to me but getting some quality time with items and the new glow pikmin is definitely a run I can get behind!
I love how co-op makes the survey drone into a combat drone, maybe if pikmin 5 becomes a thing that can be taken as more intentional feature and one that is a bit more balanced aorund it
I personally went for an Oatchi focused run where I used pikmin for tedious tasks like building and gathering materials, but used Oatchi for any fights and collecting treasures. I feel the boss fights are a lot more engaging that way as you have to dodge and find the best ways to dodge and attack Also, a few things to note: 6:25 You can also use pikpik carrots for the armored cannonbeetle, they jam it up just like a pikmin normally would. 14:05 There is another way to get this card without having to refreeze the water a second time, you can complete the cave, then enter from the other end. This puts the base on the ledge above next to the card, letting you grab it that way. I feel like this trick of moving the base to the other side on these types of caves has some promise for other tricks or challenges.
You actually can kill the Sirehound with bombrocks. I've done it and you can test it in the Piklopedia! You can even kill the flying phase like this and any enemie it just takes awhile! So if you are willing to just grind some Co-op points you're unstoppable!
Would love to see some mono-color runs! I know that red can get out of the first area, and I think ice can as well. Rules would be to limit usage of anything that would bypass a specific pikmin's requirements, and then tally those up (so if you could use the tactical drone or an oatchi upgrade to take down an electric fence, but you should exhaust your other options first)
I played a bit of little bro mode with a friend and coop definitely speeds stuff up and im wondering if an item can push the two yellow pikmin castaways in the fire and maze caves, I took a break from my run because material was hell, may pick it back up with exception that pikmin can grab those HOLY SHIT SURVEY DRONE, we are so back lads If going for 1 hundo, extra hand might actually help a little
So based off of this video you can either play pikmin 4 as a captain with an army of up to 101 creatures to overcome and overwhelm enemies, or as a helicopter with a mounted machine gun
I'm currently beating the game without oatchi. I've gotten to the cavern for a king and all of the run was done in single player mode and I've needed Oatchi 4 times; once to get into the rescue olimar battle, once to get to the first Louie battle, once to get don Bergman who I got in ultimate testing range jumping once in sublevel 2, and finally I switched to oatchi to get to Louie final battle. I counted switching or riding on oatchi only a use when it charged, jumped, or started transporting something. Once I started using oatchi it stayed as one count until you visibly got off or switched away after an action. Do avoid accidental use I switched to oatchi and just moved him to the side. In hero's hideaway the first card by the starting area was not obtain however the one which requires a button press was done in single player with good timing I through a purple and went on the fan so that I could use it when still switching it to enable the other fan. I guess the first digit. I did all Dandori battles without oatchi surprisingly and got gold in all but the last where I got silver. I couldn't get the ice, purple, white, and winged onion. I'm about to do the last cave have and I've stocked up on glow Pikmin because I'm sure they'll come in handy. For pots I needed to use bombs. The ice onion was unobtainable because of the button needing the cave to be done which you can't get past the first sublevel. The Purple and White onions are unobtainable because you can't do trial of the sage leaf without oatchi. Winged onion was in a place needing oatchi to get to. The blue Onion was obtained in serene shores. In sun speckled terrace I needed to redo the only cave I could do for corpses. Surprisingly I 90% Blossoming Arcadia and 70% Seren shores which really shows you only really need oatchi alot for the first and last areas. All in all I really enjoyed this run and it stayed true to the not having a dog and your Pikmin being a big clump. Though because most caves aren't possible to get to the boss I wanted to try afterwards to go in the piklopedia and just fight everything without oatchi because he breaks alot of the bosses making them a bit too easy because your Pikmin are all condensed. I'm most worried about Ancient Sirehound's last phase.
technically getting glow seeds counts as propagating pikmin, as you can clear the grow pikmin population mission with them. Not from using the glow seeds mind you, just for collecting them.
OMG Bowblax I was NOT expecting your voice when I clicked on this, I forgot you're a huge pikmin fan too! I love to see everyone enjoying this game, I'm already on my third playthrough, going for minimum Oatchi usage, I think next playthrough I'll try an Oatchi only run
Pikmin players making up their own challenges to keep the game entertaining even after we beat it is right on the money. I remember when I had completed pikmin 3 deluxe for like the 5th time, I had created a google spreadsheet of various challenges for the mission modes that I spent many hours testing to see what missions the various challenges I made were possible on. Also, when you mentioned taking laps while oatchi builds stuff, that reminded me that I had made my own game and it’s basically just racing around the entirety of the different areas using infinite rush with oatchi
I've been doing a challenge run of No Onions/Flarlic, No Pikmin production, No re-entering caves for Pikmin, No using the recommended types for caves if you can, No upgrades (besides Charge Horn, Command Lvl 2, and both Fire protection gear at level 4), No excessive use/riding of Oachi (unless required), no rewind, no 2 player, 10 or 15 day limit idk to the final boss. It's actually decently possible I didn't expect that.
I used rush to bonk the Game Boy to get it where it needed to go without using pikmin and was disappointed when it wasn't sucked up despite being right under that spaceship.
I immediately wondered if this run would be possible when the game came out. Good to know it is. From the sounds of it I think i'd rather do a no-upgrade run but maybe a no-pikmin run at some point could be fun.
I found that out after posting this video, but it's really slow, I wouldn't recommend it. Just beat it with glows instead of you don't want to lose your sanity
The short answer? No... But _almost._ There is a single raised bridge in the final cave that requires 20 pikmin to pull down, and unless you cheese it somehow, or use Glow Pikmin, there is no way to cross it (I know because I just completed an "only one Pikmin per type" challenge, and had to cheat using Glow Pikmin at that one part. Other than that its possible to reach the final cave using just Oatchi and a small group of 3 Pikmin).
So, I did a bit of calculating in my head, and figured that, minus Pikmin 4, the entire series has about 55 hours worth of content-depending on your skill level, this number can be less or more.
One idea I had but was unsure how to execute it was only allowing WILD pikmin to be used. No growing pikmin, outside of night missions since the game doesn’t track those anyway. The issue I’m had trying to craft it is “What’s stopping me from just… farming more wild pikmin?” Trying to think of a fair way of balancing that, while allowing 100% to be possible is a real stumbling block, as you need at least 90 purples plus oatchi for the heaviest treasure…
i feel like i used mostly wild pikmin on my first regular playthrough. I felt no need to farm pikmin on the overworld because of flarlic system limiting how many you need above ground
you actually need 100 purples to move the heaviest treasure down so oatchi can carry it. you are right, just oatchi cannot get to the area. (unless a kind of glitch exists that i dont know of.)
I don't know who decided to add a gun to Pikmin 4, but it is more broken than you can possibly imagine. On top of being able to shoot out of the Survey Drone, it can also straight up shoot at the other screen during Dandori Battles, and if you have 2 players, one player can collect treasures with Oatchi while the other keeps shooting Olimar and Moss making no Pikmin Dandori Battles more than possible.
Okay but the idea of having Olimar and a pikmin inspired track in a Mario Kart game goes hard. Especially if we ever get a return of the two drivers from Double Dash, imagine having Olimar doing his best to avoid crashing a vehicle for the thousandth time and Louie in the back seat tossing bomb rocks on other players like the psycho that he is
Hearing you get exceedingly angry at Oatchi for committing whatever sorcery he used against that Giant Breadbug really got to me for some reason. I just thought it would be nice to mention how that was pretty silly.
Man I wish I knew about the Pebble puncher, that would help me on my upgrade-less and item-less challenge! Where Oatchi is litearlly the weakest thing ever, I'm stuck trying to platinum the last two hardest dandori challenges! I kinda wanna see you tackle the dandori battles and even dandori battles with Zero upgrades, buying any items. It changes how Dandori works entirely!!!
An easy way to get around grinding raw materials would be to utilize the starter Pikmin on Day 2 to harvest the glintbug in Crackling Cauldron over and over again before you throw them to the Candypop! We've been using that for Minimum Day Count runs and have been able to get up to 1k/2k in the first two days just by abusing it since it will re-spawn each time you enter.
So THIS is how the rescue corps expected to be rescuing everyone! I can buy the idea that the pebble pitcher could be a part of the survey drone in the lore, so I might actually try to make a run of this one!
I was thinking of a similar challenge where I only grab collectable things in caves and I enter with no pikmin (relying on wild pikmin and oatchi with training and gear).
1:55 When I played Pikmin 1 for the first time, I was still in elementary school, maybe 8 or 9 years old, most of the time I walked around with 10, 20, maybe 40 Pikmin (after I got the one part in forest of hope). And since you need one part per day, I often called the day an end after I got one part. So when my younger brother played one day on my safe file, it was impossible for me to complete.
This was hella interesting to watch, especially since you're so limited in what you can do. And as much as I want to try this I'm too much of a collector nut to ignore any flarlic lying around.

@@mcdonaldoldsLike they said, even if they skipped the card they'd still need a pikmin to open the safe. And I'm not sure if doing the safe at night would be a viable option.
Man i love playing a game of " "
Also i love that at 9:25 he says "this type of sorcery is unacceptable" which means other types are completly fine
If you want to use oachie after talking to olimar, you can just turn off the swallow upgrade in the gear menu after you unlock it
You can't turn of pup skills, only gear upgrades can be turned off
to anyone calling out that using glow pikmin should still count: the game itself repeatedly calls out that they may not actually be pikmin(even listing their family as unknown instead of pikmin), they have no onion, their bodies are made up of some sort of energy which isent even technically alive(or indeed possibly even matter since they can phase threw it), nor can they truly die, and while they resemble pikmin its possible this is a mimicry, as we see with their energy ball attack their bodies are are amorphous and can change shape and even combine together, so doesent count
AMAZING VIDEO! I cant wait to get myself further into these crazy limitations using stuff like the Drone and all the crazy items. I'm happy I could help with this, and thankyou a ton for mentioning me here. Pikminphobes rise up!! Pikmin 4 is now called 4...
Hi wigwarm
@@BobHose-d2x yoo hi!
:) ima do this too in one day :)
Absolutely with you about the Challenge options. It's one of my favourite things about Pikmin 4; there's so many ways we can do things.
Wow, it's been less than a month and we're already finding ways to break the game. Impressive!!!
hey, been doing a run of this myself but without the pebble pitcher, and heres a few things
best spots for material farming have to be in sun speckled terrace. second base has a deposit instantly that refreshes everyday. optimal with +3 dig you can get 28 material a day
you will need Pikmin in a few spots or else the game is physically impossible
Tutorial Area, of course, you need them for the first 3 treasures
(Without Pebble Pitcher, You will need 1 Ice Pikmin to rescue Russ, I dont think there's another way to get a rescue unless you do that, no ice blasts are available until 1500 sparklium and you need to 100% a cave to even farm some.)
Hero's Hideaway: Unlocking the safe requires at least 1 Pikmin, ive tried *everything* else to get it to change numbers and it didn't work.
Nice work!apparantely your also able to get russ in crackling cauldron using reds if you try enough
For the metal sheets in the final cave you can use 2 purple pikmin instead of 20 of other types.
@@Syka or glow pikmin
Thanks for sharing
I'll have to remember on repeat playthroughs to try to do Night Expeditions for new areas first. Having all the bridges and stuff built on my first Day Expeditions would be a huge head start and help me get to more caves before sunset.
This video is made so well and well written! I look forward to see what challenges you do till 2033 when Pikmin 5 comes out
Piklophobic run it is! Great video!
I assumed this would be an Oatchi-only run which did not sound appealing to me but getting some quality time with items and the new glow pikmin is definitely a run I can get behind!
I love how co-op makes the survey drone into a combat drone, maybe if pikmin 5 becomes a thing that can be taken as more intentional feature and one that is a bit more balanced aorund it
Fun fact: you can plug the blowhole of the horned cannon beetle with pikpik carrots
Honestly, I often forget just how OP the tools they give you are. I'm simultaneously surprised and not surprised this run is possible!
I personally went for an Oatchi focused run where I used pikmin for tedious tasks like building and gathering materials, but used Oatchi for any fights and collecting treasures. I feel the boss fights are a lot more engaging that way as you have to dodge and find the best ways to dodge and attack
Also, a few things to note:
6:25 You can also use pikpik carrots for the armored cannonbeetle, they jam it up just like a pikmin normally would.
The co-op pebbles working with the survey drone is such a surprising trick. It's cool, but I do wonder if they'll patch it out.
I clicked on this expecting something… that something was definitely not Josh Blowblax lmao
I dont think i can put into words the amount of whiplash i had hearing bowblox's voice on a Pikmin challange video lmfao
-Look inside pikmin-less run
-11:43
-pikmin are being used
9:24 Comically large walking bread 🍞
such an underrated youtuber. keep up the grind and the algorithm will bless you :)
You actually can kill the Sirehound with bombrocks. I've done it and you can test it in the Piklopedia! You can even kill the flying phase like this and any enemie it just takes awhile! So if you are willing to just grind some Co-op points you're unstoppable!
i love calling this type of run 'Oatchonly' or "Noatchi"
9:24 - Bro was furious at Oatchi, I'm rattled just hearing it.
Thanks for keeping the video light on spoilers. I haven't gotten that far in the game yet, so it's greatly appreciated.
Would love to see some mono-color runs! I know that red can get out of the first area, and I think ice can as well. Rules would be to limit usage of anything that would bypass a specific pikmin's requirements, and then tally those up (so if you could use the tactical drone or an oatchi upgrade to take down an electric fence, but you should exhaust your other options first)
I played a bit of little bro mode with a friend and coop definitely speeds stuff up and im wondering if an item can push the two yellow pikmin castaways in the fire and maze caves, I took a break from my run because material was hell, may pick it back up with exception that pikmin can grab those
HOLY SHIT SURVEY DRONE, we are so back lads
If going for 1 hundo, extra hand might actually help a little
Multiplayer is just giving your brother a gun.
Damn, they gave the drone a gun.
was so excited to see these finally!
Was curious on oatchi only and also oatchi less runs coming out of pikmin 4
I'm most worried about Ancient Sirehound's last phase.
i was waiting for someone to do this, with how powerful oatchi is i’m sure this will be a fun video. looking forward to it
TBH, I only got one card in the hero's hideaway, then I just guessed the password to the safe.
The humor in this video is great
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKED ABOUT SURVEY DRONE + 2 PLAYER MODE
technically getting glow seeds counts as propagating pikmin, as you can clear the grow pikmin population mission with them. Not from using the glow seeds mind you, just for collecting them.
9:31 Holy shit he sounded mad for real here
OMG Bowblax I was NOT expecting your voice when I clicked on this, I forgot you're a huge pikmin fan too!
It's actually decently possible I didn't expect that.
sadly I think the tactical drone will be fixed very very soon. Hopefully in exchange of a actually good multiplayer with oatchi
I did not know the shenaniganery that this game allowed before watching this lmao
Can't wait for "can you beat Pikmin 4 whitout the number 4"
I used rush to bonk the Game Boy to get it where it needed to go without using pikmin and was disappointed when it wasn't sucked up despite being right under that spaceship.
Hello, I'm trying to do a run without oatchi but I can't find a way to rescue jakirrucel, does someone know how to save them?
Bro turned pikmin 4 into oatchi 4
I love how we just come up with a bunch of back-breaking challenges because there's not enough content in game. And we find ways to break the game.
The legend has returned
I immediately wondered if this run would be possible when the game came out. Good to know it is. From the sounds of it I think i'd rather do a no-upgrade run but maybe a no-pikmin run at some point could be fun.
You can kill the final boss with A LOT of bombs. Impressive.
I found that out after posting this video, but it's really slow, I wouldn't recommend it.
Just beat it with glows instead of you don't want to lose your sanity
The short answer? No... But _almost._
There is a single raised bridge in the final cave that requires 20 pikmin to pull down, and unless you cheese it somehow, or use Glow Pikmin, there is no way to cross it (I know because I just completed an "only one Pikmin per type" challenge, and had to cheat using Glow Pikmin at that one part. Other than that its possible to reach the final cave using just Oatchi and a small group of 3 Pikmin).
Great vid bowblax. Im glad you have always been a pikmin stan like me
So, I did a bit of calculating in my head, and figured that, minus Pikmin 4, the entire series has about 55 hours worth of content-depending on your skill level, this number can be less or more.
Id say it goes like this for most people 1beat game 2 100% the areas 3 beat game in minimum amount of days 4 challenge runs
Blowblax?
Huh didn't know you made a separate gaming channel, I like it!!
Great video as always~!
This is so cool! Do you think that if you get the Extra Hand ability it would have any difference in a 100% run?
I'm gonna go straight for the Louie quest once I beat the final boss
That's hilarious, this game introduced so many tools that you can play "armed drone simulator" instead of actual Pikmin.
18:40 or you could call it the "Shepard run" because she is scared of pikmin.
I bet the drone plus carrot button will become real speedrun tech
I don't know who decided to add a gun to Pikmin 4, but it is more broken than you can possibly imagine. On top of being able to shoot out of the Survey Drone, it can also straight up shoot at the other screen during Dandori Battles, and if you have 2 players, one player can collect treasures with Oatchi while the other keeps shooting Olimar and Moss making no Pikmin Dandori Battles more than possible.
Okay but the idea of having Olimar and a pikmin inspired track in a Mario Kart game goes hard.
Especially if we ever get a return of the two drivers from Double Dash, imagine having Olimar doing his best to avoid crashing a vehicle for the thousandth time and Louie in the back seat tossing bomb rocks on other players like the psycho that he is
finally, the answer to the age-old question of "what if olimar had a gun"
Hearing you get exceedingly angry at Oatchi for committing whatever sorcery he used against that Giant Breadbug really got to me for some reason. I just thought it would be nice to mention how that was pretty silly.
I love the idea of being a pikmin enemy, minding my own business, when some strange invisible god just starts throwing pebbles at me until I die
I’m not even a pikmin fan and have no idea why I’m watching this but nice video 👍
Using only 1 Pikmin to try and kill an armored canon beetle sounds nightmarish and probably difficult
This video is very well done! I hope you get more views, looks very underrated right now.
Bro that survey drone bug is literally, "ENEMY AC130 ABOVE" also the speedrun strats that this helps with like damn.
Your play character is NOT a captain. Every single playable character is NOT a captain.
BTW you can turn off abilities and gear in the tablet, so you can get swallow and turn it on only when needed
9:24-9:34 This is the funniest glitch I’ve ever seen, like holy shit how does that even happen
I have no idea but I was so mind blown when it did haha
call this the captian shepard run because she loves oatchi and is terrified of the pikmin
I was thinking of a similar challenge where I only grab collectable things in caves and I enter with no pikmin (relying on wild pikmin and oatchi with training and gear).
what about using glow pikmin during a night mission in hero’s hideaway to get into the safe
i tried that. the fan that launches you up to the bunker is turned off at night
what about bomb rocks?
This is an immediate no because of bars that oatchi cannot go through and that the final bosses last phase needs you to *throw* stuff
So when my younger brother played one day on my safe file, it was impossible for me to complete.
trying to beat a pikmin game without any pikmin is like being alive without existing
This was hella interesting to watch, especially since you're so limited in what you can do. And as much as I want to try this I'm too much of a collector nut to ignore any flarlic lying around.
You don't need to ignore flarlic, only the colored onions
