    Both cars were running 91 octane files. I was also informed by the Unitronic tuned RS3 owner that he forgot to turn his traction control all the way off and was running in Sport mode. Upon reviewing the video and noticing ZERO tire spin I can see that was true and that he probably went slower because of it. That seriously sucks......

      I’m guessing the Unitronic Stage 1+ would give him the edge without adding any extra parts to the car?

    Carbon ceramics reduce rotational mass by 64lbs (17 per corner) and I would bet the S5 wheels are a bit heavier than stock RS3 wheels also. Taking that into account the estimated 70lbs rotational mass less on apr along with the unitronic driver not taking traction control off I’m surprised it was still that close. This pushes me toward unitronic even more lol.

    Great video Adam, as always!
    Big lover of the RS3's and your passion for them. I almost purchased one in December at Capilano Audi but after driving one for the first time (crazy I know) I was hugely disappointed in the power compared to my 2016 S3 with APR stage 2 ecu/tcu (yes I am an APR lover so was happy with this video outcome:)). Have never been to Mission but after meeting a good buddy of yours Charles from Richmond in January I just might make it out there this year to see what mine can actually do in real life, not just number talk (another video I very much enjoyed of yours). It would be great to see what mine would do with some of the RS3's you run with...Im sure this will then drive me back to wanting one again...lol.
    Keep up the great work!

      Thanks for watching and for your thoughts. I owned a Stage 2+ 2016 Audi S3. It held the stock turbo, full weight record for over a year and a half in the 1/4 mile. I'm not sure whose RS3 you drove, but completely stock the RS3 is barely slower than a full bolt, stage 2 S3. If you come to the track this year my guess is you will run an 11.8 - 11.9 in your S3. Completely stock RS3's run a 12.0 or 12.1 at Mission. Very, very close in terms of power. Then if you throw on a simple stage 1 tune with no parts being changed on an RS3 the car is noticeably faster than a stage 2 S3. Look forward to having you come out and race with Charles and I this year!

      @vroomgc 3 роки тому

      JB4 is not the same as a tune. Ive had both and its less hp and tq than a tune and overall the tune has a better range of power vs than how a JB4 comes on strong for a shorter range.

    • @ericmichel3857
      @ericmichel3857 3 роки тому

      @@vroomgc People keep saying that and yet my car (Golf R) with a JB4 is every bit as fast (or faster) than every tune I have come across. All I have is a K&N drop in, IC, and a DP and have run 0-60 in 3.6 and 11.7 and 116. I have yet to see a tuned car with the same mods do better. Accept those with a custom tune where they are really pushing it, and several of those have damaged the engine doing that. So unless you want more than typical stage 2 power getting a tune over a JB4 is pointless. Everyone that says a tune is better bases it off of seat of the pants, but the actual numbers don't back it up. Again unless you have a custom tune which I don't trust. I think this car is plenty fast with just the JB4 and it is very reliable, can't say that about most of the tunes I have seen. This is for a Golf R not RS3 so...

I'm just saying the car drives smoother with a tune and gets as good if not better power than a JB piggyback. What is one's best gas solution for wanting to run 93 octane map when 94 octane E10-15 is not available anywhere i live..... Heck we only have 91 Octane here in Nova Scotia and according to Pure-gas they are all also ethanol free here. I was going to stop at Eurocharged in Toronto and get the RS3 tuned on the 91 gas there before coming home since it might be the safest solution for me to run a safest level of tune that matches our gas instead of flashing with Unitronics and hoping for the best.
    I ran 94 Octane Husky in my Evo IX when I was on Vancouver Island which had 15% ethanol content and made 347whp on that particular gas, it was when Husky pulled out and i was left with Chevron's E0 94 octane i started pulling crazy timings and had to remotely remapped the tune.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  4 роки тому

      If you have the opportunity to get Eurocharged to tune your car, toss in 91 with a blend of 15% to 20% E85. That should bring your octane level high enough that they could provide you a custom 93 map.

    APR always has a slight edge on other tuners the Dyno numbers are always higher with APR especially torque but im what wondering if the APR car had stage 1 high tq or low tq because there's a big difference in power between the 2 and is the Unitronic car stage 1 or stage 1+ or stage 2

    • @VancityAudi

      The issue with this run is mentioned in the pinned comment. The Unitronic car didn't turn his traction control off which led it to withholding some of its power off launch, preventing wheelspin and slowing it down. Hey Van city audi, I got a couple of questions. Do you know what difference it makes in time when launching in sport mode vs launching with both traction and ESC off? Which is faster? And also, when launching, is it better/faster to hold RPM and build boost or let go right away?

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Рік тому +1

      Traction ON VS traction in Sport mode VS traction OFF makes a massive difference in how well your car accelerates. I swear by traction control being fully off and then launching with less boost as the most effective way to launch a stock turbo car on the street. If you watch my drag racing videos I show my POV and you can see the dash. You can see exactly how I launched my car which netted me some of the quickest 60ft times in the world in a stock turbo RS3.
