When you didn’t prepare for your presentation and you have to fill up the required five minutes
Christine Daae yas!
But somehow work perfectly xD
This comment was funnier then the entire video
Christine Daae no, that doesn’t require this level of intention
Exactly
Julio Torres is the right amount of strange and thoughtful and clever and witty and truly original.
It is strange and original but I dont believe it to be witty, clever or very thoughtful.
Agreed, he's brilliant.
Fred armisen has entered the chat
This guy is pretty good. My kind of dumb funny. I do impressions at people to prove a point and get a laugh. Even if it's a snicker from peanut gallery, sometimes those count more. Well, for me anyway.
Yes he reeled me at at first I was like huh snooze fest....
Julio Torres never has to worry about accidentally doing another comic's bits, which is kinda rare in 2019.
Or just copy himself? This is literally word for word from his comedy special. Weird. He has to have other favorite shapes.
@@DJdext well it's part of his show, that's very common for comedians to do bits of their specials on TV before filming or releasing the entire special.
@@DJdext this may even been after his special was released but you gotta think the majority of people have probably not seen that special so comedians have to get their jokes on multiple platforms to reach their audience.
@@DJdext singers also continue to play their greatest hits and albums so comedians shouldn't always have to bring brand new material to everything they do
Except maybe carrot top. Lol
"I don't know if crystals work". That deserved a bigger laugh. His humour is so oblique it really is unique. I love it.
So how does it feel being mentally handicapped?
He wrote the "Papyrus" sketch for/with Ryan Gosling when he hosted SNL, one of my favorites. Makes perfect sense now.
If memes were stand-up comedy it would be Julio Torres
Yes, exactly this. He is the shape of memes.
I was thinking the same thing! This was like a meme in real life thing
If Julio Torres was funny, it would be stand up comedy.
@@sasukesarutobi3862 Guillermo del Torres' "The Shape of Memes" sweeps the box office
@@leeloodallas91 2 hours of Julio Torres pretending to be a fish.
Julio Torres and Jaboukie Young-White got me marveled at how good these young comedians are and how well they make fun of our generation.
Also, Jimmy Fallon dieing at 3:06
Literally my two favourite comedians
@@leilashaban8032 he clearly saw the camera light turn on and had to react.
Hes 32...
Max McMillan that would still make him a millennial according to when he was born
This was so strange. Not used to physical props in stand up but I like it!
He is carrot tops adopted nephew.
Kay, y'all... Julio's comedy is nothing like the low-effort bullshit slapstick Carrot Top peddles into C-List casinos.
Watch demetri martin!!!
I actually snorted at that curtain joke, LMFAO
It's so completely unexpected. Genius.
That role stealing ferrero rocher made me cry laugh.
Julio Torres is an aesthetic of comedy I didn’t know I wanted nor needed until he suddenly chimed in on HBO. 🌵👠
Eli 53 smooth brain but that’s okay, you’ll learn someday
If you think this is good, comedy isn’t your bag. The same people try to think that Nanette is genius. It’s unfunny mental illness. Leave us comedy fans alone.
That shirt came from the 5th Element wardrobe dept... it must have.
that's what it reminded me off, i couldn't place it, thank you! ....or "SMOKE YOU".
(nods furiously)

“Who hurt you?” 🤣🤣🤣
😄😄😄 I loved that!!
This is the kind of quirky humor that makes you laugh silently in your head thay your brain comes up with when youre alone and seeking entertainment.
He is like the new age Fred Armisen
Los Espookys

don’t ever disrespect Fred like that..
He reminds me of demetri Martin more
celeandmiko too much praise
Wasn't my brand of humor but I did get a chuckle from the queen cape.
Come on the curtain impression was hilarious
@@reneehoward8936 It was something about his delivery that didn't resonate with me.
@@MoriartyTheFifth To each his own
i agree the only thing that kept me going. The rest was just, odd. like jokes you tell to a child.
Same. I did chuckle at the airplane window joke too
Hey where's ur little skirt I died lololll
I absolutely love this. Super original, super dry, and hilarious. Taking the top off like that and saying “immediately chiming in” was gold. And the queen bit was just wonderful.
I love absurdist humor like this, it never fails to crack me up
jpup haha yeah this is great isn’t it? hahahahaha
This isn't even absurdist humor
@@ongobongo8333 Really? Then what is it? And what do you consider absurdist humor? Just curious
i love ur Scott pilgrim pfp
Love this guy, I get why he's not everyone's cup of tea though.
posteador I could watch him for hours
He requires us to think and I’m not being mean when I say this but a lot of people just want an easy laugh and he’s a bit of social criticism and commentary and you gotta stay with him a while to get to the punchline...and there may not be an definitive punchline.
Personally I LOVE him and find him so so refreshing ❤️
@@KateCarew he requires you to think and not be mean
fbelard he’s irreverent which is the hardest humor to nail to a wide audience, being left of center makes you less appealing to the masses but to those who appreciate you, you’re the finest.
The two queens was hilarious lol
Interesting how divided viewers are about Julio Torres. I love him, especially the stupid bits he does for Jimmy every now and then, like Halloween costume suggestions. Then again, I was raised on absurdist humor in the golden era of stupid cartoons.
@Nicholas Pagano
Then you've not seen him in Los Espookys. That has damned good comedy writing and performances.
The audience totally missed his crystal joke 😂😂😂 it was his best one
Been keeping my eye on this one. He’s obviously a f-ing genius. I love this.
Melinda Carpenter he is
good on you, not genius, nit even smart
Calm down, melinda!
Genius🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Way to overhype this hack.
I’ve watched this so many times and just gotten the double meaning of:
“I don’t know if crystals work”
I’ll see myself out..
i love this kid!!
What he's got i find very sweet and entertaining - more than just jabs/judgments - i feel he creates a world and paints a picture, the kick still comes as you cannot predict but find pleasant the result :) what a wonderful lad ! x
Oh ya u def wouldnt want jokes in a comedy routine then it might actually be FUNNY.
@@ultimatenightmares it's funny :) + i explained their unpredictability, to me, makes me lollollol
I love how you put his act into words, because I had no idea how to describe it. He's so different, I love it.
@@vintageblue2296 that is so sweet of you to say! thank you good stranger
It’s very niche, and they’re on a show, so they’re probably instructed to laugh tbh.
Seeing the rest of Julios work makes it all make so much sense. I think his comedy is transcending. Brilliant. Deserves so many flowers.
I definitely smiled at some of the bits but what is with the explosive laughter? I really didn't expect the name jessica would invoke that much laughter.
Laughter is contagious in a room full of people
Sounded like forced laugh. I didn't even grin.
I'm not trying to be mean, and I've definitely seen worse comedians, but I'm curious how this set would do with an audience not primed to laugh at the drop of a hat. I have a lot of respect for road comics, and the holes they have to dig themselves out of (with bad crowds or after flubbing a delivery etc). Julio is a comedy writer and actor, rather than a stand up, and I guess I find his low energy prop comedy kind of... safe and gimmicky? Demitri Martin's concepts seemed a lot more clever and fleshed out. Anyways, good luck to him.
@@waltonwb
...If I was there, I'd be asking for my money back. Of course, tv shows are free so no refund. One unknown trick tv shows have is that they plant professional "laughers" in the audience. This, in turn, creates the illusion of being the funniest guy in the world, plus laughter is contagious. So other people laugh when otherwise they wouldn't.
I don't see his humor at all. And I love comedy. Heck, even Steven Wright is 1000x better. And his shtick is a monotonous delivery. This kid reminds me of a little boy playing imaginary with his toys. Only funny too him. I see Jimmy Fallon cracking up back there, but he's always doing that to EVERY guest. Great comedians are universally appealing, no matter what background. This kids humor is very limited. Didn't reach me AT ALL.
@@oldschoolfunkster1 Sure! You make a lot of sense. I would only add that comedians with different backgrounds can add another 'layer' of humor to those in the know (if that makes sense?) I guess what I mean is representation is great in comedy, but it should be secondary. Someone called his sets 'anti-hegemonic comedy' (maybe in these comments?) I'm against hegemony, but also that kind of thinking as it relates to comedy really is cancer.
*The hands just were everything with the glitter in this skit and reminds me of price is right with his movements lol*
Patrick McGregor *The only Bot would be you*
I am even more deeply in love with your crazy sense of humor... you're an angel sent from deep space ❤❤
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 “late for meeting & immediately chiming in”
"Doing what I do, which is...THIS..."
Hahaha I love him 😄
💕💕 Me too!! Loved that 😄😄
He reminds me of Demitri Martin. Love it! Important Things was a great show
Funny how at 3:05 u can see jimmy laughing his ass off in the background 😂💀
The more I watch this guy the more I like him :) He's whimsical yet dry at the same time haha love it
JS that’s a really good description
Oh dear goodness, that was bloody hilarious. I’ve literally just been caught so beautifully unawares as to this particular brand of surrealism because he truly and honestly did manage to make me laugh right out loud (so much so that my neighbours now love him too). It’s like he breathed a fresh brand of new life into that stale and cliched old trope of the irrepressible style of dry British deadpan humour, yet in my opinion, this young man revived it into something way much funnier. What a delightful treat, I’m so gleefully happy right now……and deservedly so in my opinion because I’ve had an atrocious night and this just goes to show that laughter truly is the best medicine at times. X
From one Torres to another... that's some hilarious shit bro. Much love!
I'm dying to see Julio's house.
Not just on some show, either, because I need to see the contents on his bedside table, inside his medicine cabinet, and the upper shelves of his closet.
He reminds me a little of Fred Armisen with the dryness, but just a little. Absolutely love Julio!
Demetri Martin, as well
Jay ... YES! I do love Fred and his facial expressions. 😂
jtreynol that would make sense. 😁
Idk why I found the bit about the chocolate so funny lol
I adore his sense of humor omg
putting glitter on his hands for the closeups is brilliant
No it isn't.
There needs to be more Julio. Love his comedy
You obviously have no idea what comedy is.
@@ultimatenightmares Rape jokes are comedy too. So are holocaust and 9\11 jokes. Not everyone likes certain types of comedy but fuck you this is funny.
I showed this to my flight attendant friend and she was hysterical!
ive never been so confused and found something so humerous as this
We all know a Jessica, I mean....
Also I died when that Ferrero joke came up. “Where’s your little skirt?”
Ohhhh my gosh, that curtain joke 😂
Moar niche comedies putting rose quartz in miniature size arm chairs with gold plated legs pleas😥😥😥💅
He needs a 1/24 scale pickup truck to carry his crystals' furniture around in.
Dudes cadence during his set is perfect for his kind of comedy. This guys hilarious.
Although, I may be a little curious as to what’s going on with his outfit..
I think he might be gay or something
Ya think? I mean the glitter all over his body may be a genetic mutation
Ooh I found out he designs literally all of the clothes he wears. And I think making people curious is probably part of the point.
I thought he was just wearing a bra over that sheer shirt but later saw the big pocket on the body of it when he moved away from the table. Rather Gaultier looking imo.
He said his mother worked as a seamstress back in El Salvador, that's why he has an affinity towards fashion.
I love when people dislike things that I love because it reminds me that none of us owe anyone our likes or interest.
I love when people think their opinions matter

I’m telling you rn it’s fucking hilarious
He’s currently a writer for SNL....this explains a lot...
he's not
He wrote Papyrus so he's a genius.

Meteorites falling, flowers blooming, animal decomposing... my favorite joke. I did not expect to laugh the way i did
You mean: “Julio Torres Sit-Down: Favorite Shapes”
Wait what just happened. How did I laugh so hard?? 🤣
I've never seen a bigger yes man than Jimmy Fallon's audience.
It's incredible how there are actually people who think that just because they didn't enjoy something that other people shouldn't enjoy it as well.
@@lexi219 it's also incredible how some people are terrible at understanding simple concepts and would rather be offended by something that has nothing to do with them. But keep being a condescending dickhead, you look cool. What I would love is for you to explain one of his jokes and why it is funny, or are you being outraged just to be?
@@timgross8954 Lmao the irony of your response is pure gold 😂
@@lexi219 good rebuttal. You've proved your superiority.
@@lexi219 but if you wouldn't mind please do explain it. I'm sure you're not avoiding the question on purpose by trying to focus on my response. Why is he funny? Usually explaining a joke makes it not funny so I'm going on the premise of explaining an unfunny joke might make it actually funny.
Why is no one talking about the joke about the crystals working 😂 that was hilarious
Hes so incredibly original this is great stuff 😂
I like how he's not pretentious. He simply presents his comedy without fear of failing....
Like, he gets it... So should you.
Pat Davis Exactly.
Omg this guy is brilliant, I can't even handle it 😂
I’m loving this
Everyone's so used to typical stand up comedy. Live a little!!
He’s definitely original and pretty funny 😂
I usually can't stand prop comedy, but I love this. The full HBO special is hilarious.
The queen cape reference is the pinnacle of things you think of when you're stoned
This is absolutely my type of humour
I appreciate every bit of this!!! From his glitter to his thought process.... so grand, I’m instantly a fan!!!!
I watched his special and it was one of the most original hours of standup ever
SO glad to see Julio back 💫
Woow, he's wildly underrated! I mean I came her from the Papyrus sketch and this is like so good. I'm absolutely shocked!
He’s amazingly talented and I’m so grateful for his ability to do what he does seemingly without effort and making it look natural and easy 🙏🏻
He’s really brilliant.
Simply perfection
bumped into his special on hbo and I've been captivated ever since. took a minute to take him in, but he is very original and consistent
Original?
He's just doing what 20 year olds do at Denny's at 2am when they're drunk.
He's a hack.
Ugh his mind 😍
Loving the glitter ✨
He always has great sets!
He’s so funny. I want to work in the cubicle next to him.

“To be a curtain and pick that as your curtain job, it’s like... who hurt you?”
I adore the chairs for crystals
Lmao why are his hands sparkly 😂 like that’s his makeup cuz his hands are on camera
as if he couldn't get any gayer :p
Omg I wasn’t ready for this. Every time they said “This next shape I must show you...” I broke down laughing even more. Like you must? LOL so glad I watched this.
Edit: Also, why aren’t we talking about how glittery they are?! Love it

Okay, this is my sense of humor to a T😂😂😂😂😂
At least this was original. There were some really good bits in there.

I love him 😂
I am in love
I love Julio and his "offbeat" prop comedy. It's very 70s and I'm here for it.
Most comedians would just mention the curtain, but he brings a model of it and shows us the divide. I respect that. Really funny routine, I loved the cape so big with the other queen on the other side 😂
His Instagram stories are this! Haha love him
His comedy is a breath of fresh air! So funny!
