    Now I know why my XR80 engine case has that welded spot on it. "They had no flywheel tool". Good video, I am about to go over my ignition system. Your video will be very useful. I just did a full bare metal resto on my little XR80 1980 model. She looks brand new. I discovered Honda CT90 forks (purchased new) are pretty much identical fit. My XR is on my channel. I will post the finished bike soon

    Hey I got a 1978 XL75 and I put an entire new electrical system in it, and still don't have any spark. I put condenser, coil, spark plug, wires, points, stator, and still no spark doesn't even shock me. I can't find any place where it is grounding out. Any advice would be appreciated. I am thinking maybe I didn't install my condenser correctly. Do you have to have the wires soldered in a certain order?

      I believe you can get a kit or just swap the parts off a newer engine. I personally have no issue with points. They have ran for 40 years with points so Probaly will run another 40. Biggest problems with old Hondas are the Stator. But you can get them from RM stator in Quebec Canada. Thanks thanks for watching commenting and subscribing.

    Thanks for the vid! Did you sort it? How does the neutral switch work with the ignition system?

      @rustyedmoore  3 роки тому

      Yes I got it sorted out. I did get a new stator and that worked. There should be a video in the Playlist further on of the install or at least I know I have one of it running. Thanks for watching and commenting

    Nice bike! I have a 73 right now that I cant seem to get fired...Mostly new ignition system, points and condenser new set to 0.12. It shocks me with a bolt in the plug but no actual fire through the new spark plug. Any help would be so appreciated!

    • @rustyedmoore
      @rustyedmoore  4 роки тому

      Might be the stator coil. You might be getting enough for a shock but not enough to fire through the plug. Thanks for watching commenting and subscribing.

    Any chance that manual covers 1973 XR75 and you'd be willing to sell a copy or digital scan?

    Nice job! Getting ready to set my points tomorrow on my 75. I don't have a manual. Where did you set them 14 thousands? T or F?

    I know this video is 6 years old but i swear it looks like the book says counterclockwise but you say turn the flywheel rotor clockwise to line the F up with the index mark. Did you just read it as clockwise or what happened with that? Although you can't see clearly in the video, the text on the page looks like a longer word than clockwise and theres also arrow on the rotor face that points left/ccw. Also would you or anyone who reads this know what would cause a 78 xr75 point breaker to open 180° early??? As i rotate the flywheel CCW the points break open when the F is at the 7 oclock position relative to the crankshaft end when they should break open at about the 2 o'clock position when aligned with the index mark. Trying to get a confusing problem solved for somebody that put in a new woodruff key and sheared first kick. I put one in successfully for them but it still doesn't run because points breaj open 180° early when turning flywheel ccw. Results in unburned charge puffing out of the intake. Cam/crank/valves clearance and timing is spot on. Is it due to the breaker position on the slot? Could it be the flywheel points cam is installed 180° wrong? Looks right but I can't find alignment marks like cam driven points on other hondas. Could turning the crank by hand with the flywheel off cause this? Someone please help me help someone else lol.
