I just love Sugimori's Carddass artworks so much, Id love to get a complete set at some point, but right now I only have the 5 Psyduck cards and that's enough for me haha. Thank you for sharing them!
Fun fact, the Bandai starters card was only made available at select Corocoro centers as a promo card to promote the Anime series that aired for the first time ever in Japan later that day on April 1st, 1997.
@Obese Venusaur I love Japanese cards personally, and they are much more affordable to collect. The Entire Ken Sugimori Bandai Carddass cards only cost about $3-4 grand in mint condition, excluding the Charizard/Blastoise/Venusaur or both of the file 000 cards. They are quite the Pokemon history though so I honestly think they are incredibly undervalued.
Just bought another good looking Gengar. It's just the coolest card ever produced. This whole set is unreal. I literally stopped buying packs this month just to buy these carddass sets.... these are literally the roots of pokemon art.
@Enrique Shockwave I just went on a buying spree I've got some coming from Japan and some coming from California so hopefully I get a good one 😬 ....I'm just happy to have found this set, 2023 is going to suck with the mass production of "rares"... I was looking for something else to collect in its place for the year and couldn't believe the prices on these were so low...
Those are some fantastic cards! I've seen a fair few of the Carddass cards on Twitter thanks to Dr. Lava, but it's cool seeing all of them here. So much amazing artwork 🤩
great video Scott! I love the carddass set. all of the art is so unique and unlike anything you’d find in the tcg. excited to see what you show next -boogus
Hell yeah, I'd love to see more about non TCG sets. I'm making my own collection of trying to amass a collection of digletts and dugtrios from every non-TCG set (the multiple bandai series, topsun, etc)
Freaking love the whole set! Just asking you and the rest of the comment section, but just by any chance, what would a moderate or heavy played collection of these cards (the full 1997 carddass bandai set) be valued at? just curious just so i can collect it all and frame it all up
Working on my own "pokedex" binder where I collect my favorite art of each pokemon and create a "pokedex" fun side project while I search for cards im missing in my main sets ❤
I got back into it in 2018 or 2019 and bought a master set of Jungle, Fossil, and Base for 300 dollars lmao. not sure how much all that would sell for now, but I assume a couple grand.
I remember picking up this set for peanuts it wasn’t that desirable I actually couldn’t sell it for £120 back in 2015 I’m glad it’s finally getting the appreciation it deserves and I’m also glad I held onto the set never had those checklist cards though but I’m regretting not picking them up sooner 😅
To my understanding with some research, Carddass is the specific name of the Vending Machine, whereas Bandai is the company who owns the machines. The Bandai Carddass machines still distribute cards to this day, but also spit out other cards like anime based and even note cards. Here's the wiki about it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carddass
I have three sealed boxes of these cards. According to Pokémon history, if I am not wrong, these were the very first Pokémon cards ever issued. I may decide to sell them soon or later 😄
im thinking these cards were vending machines, i wonder if they came on peel off sheets? i know the vending machine series did and am glad i ordered mint copies years ago haha, imagine peeling off cards xD
Ken is a genius but you can let he knew nothing about boxing. That Hitmonchan looks like trash since his stance is perfect for him to be throwing a jab and not a cross. He could have "studied" a bit. Amazing collection.
The thing I love from this set is the Pokémon doing moves or attacking others
I’m a fan of them attacking others as well! (:
@@jscottyson my man 😁
My guess is that Metapod is that color because he’s using Harden.
Yup!
This
This is supported by so many other pokemon also performing moves supposedly

Any idea how many were printed by chance? Haven't been able to find that info.
Insane timing, bought a bunch of Carddass for the first time ever this weekend lol
i bought a psa 10 hitmonchan and hitmonlee carddass from this set, i'm so excited for them to arrive.
the art is just beautiful.
Why are people disliking this? They must be mad they can’t afford these cards haha
Hahah my thoughts exactly.
just a thought, but maybe its boring to some people?
I personally liked it, but not everyone has to like the same thing.

Hands down my favorite type of Pokémon cards! Thanks for sharing!
Quality AF of a video.

7:20 That is indeed a strange Vileplume. I'd almost say it looks like a Victreebel lol.
Snorlax providing actual lunch for Gengar is just top shelf Pokemon art.
I want this card sooooo bad but even a dented one is going for 40 bucks now...
@@BoneyRasputin tough one to source without dents at this point for sure, but keep tryin cause it's not impossible

@Enrique Shockwave Base set prisms for the price of a pack of sneasel and theivul.... crazy... I'm going to start buying them all up.
It was awesome to see those original designs, lots of fantastic art here thank you!
Top 10 Pokemon, your channel brought me here. Thank you!
3:08 this is my favorite Pikachu design
Classic. Thank you for doing this sir, time well spent
I love this binder, I collect a lot of non tcg Pokémon cards mainly topps and it just makes me happy :)
I'm so happy I got a cardass pikachu in a trade last summer :)
Beautiful looking cards, and a great set as a whole. Thanks for sharing these

one of the best sets ever! love the carddass!
These cards are beautiful👌🏼 very under appreciated artworks
Hey Scott! Have you seen the red/green 1996 playing cards? I believe also exclusive sets of Ken Sugimori. Love the video!!!
I think that is the best looking carddass set
Getting close to finishing my PSA 9 set 🙏
Same with the topsun cards, even the checklist cards have amazing artworks on them, love videos like this bro keep up the fire content :)
Hey, the original matching "Carddass Station System File" binder is also so cool.
Hell yeah, I'd love to see more about non TCG sets. I'm making my own collection of trying to amass a collection of digletts and dugtrios from every non-TCG set (the multiple bandai series, topsun, etc)
We are all poliwags at birth, then poliwhirls in school. Then bam, adulthood. Poliwrath.
I love your binder videos!!
Great video! I've been collecting this set in PSA 10 for a while now and am down to the last 7 cards. Would love some help getting it finished.
Nice! I have a few of these at home and never knew what they were called. Awesome collection!
I think Clefairy originally meant to be part of the Pokemon mascot, hence its getting printed as holo.
Og pikachu looks like he's carrying a frisbee.
I love the subtitles on the thumb nails at the start of your videos. "This is ass and pratt" 😅😅 love your vids mate
Love me an Smpratt binder video!

great collection for sure
That ditto is amazing

Thanks for sharing! This is great.
Best pokemon video i ve never seen
Such a dope set
That mew is eye candy. Amazing
CC on and it says ass and pratt
Don't know why that made me laugh so hard
Very underrated set!
5:35 vulpox at the breeding center lol
Do a video on the 1996 carddass as well please! those are very cool too!
smpratte what about the jumbo Carddass cards from the same series??
haven't watched the video. love it already.
Yes yes yes I’ve been asking for so longggggg
I remember picking up this set for peanuts it wasn’t that desirable I actually couldn’t sell it for £120 back in 2015 I’m glad it’s finally getting the appreciation it deserves and I’m also glad I held onto the set never had those checklist cards though but I’m regretting not picking them up sooner 😅
If you like the battling style of the Pokemon design, check out vending stickers series 3

Love it !!
Anyone else watch the subtitles, “hey everyone this is ass and Pratt.”
Amazing collection! Pretty sure that Metapod isn't a different colour because of its design, its using Harden :)
I wonder why they don't do out of the box art like this anymore..
I have three sealed boxes of these cards. According to Pokémon history, if I am not wrong, these were the very first Pokémon cards ever issued. I may decide to sell them soon or later 😄
got a mint set from Japan two years ago!!!
I think clefary is holo because initially it was suppose to be the mascot not pikachu
Amazing cards. It still makes no sense to me how you don't have a ton more views and subs..
When you said Jessica Simpson, I time traveled in my head. 🤯
Wonky mewtwo art from that set is killer 😝
If u like these, highly suggest u check out the Kagemaru Himeno karuta card set
The Pokémon pocket monster cards are cool and could be worth a pretty penny if mint condition
Could metapod be using harden and not coloured incorrectly?
please tell me those are sleeved...inside the binder.........I see them loose...
By "Invisible Wall" do you mean Reflect/Light Screen?
How about those poker card decks?
Great point about the art: seeing pokemon together in the same scene was really neat to see back then
Honestly my favourite set shame the prices spiked so high
did these come in packs?
im thinking these cards were vending machines, i wonder if they came on peel off sheets? i know the vending machine series did and am glad i ordered mint copies years ago haha, imagine peeling off cards xD
the voltorb was doing light screen.
Dat cardass
This video is surely going to increase the value of carddass. Good thing I already own them 😅
It will probably make them go up a bit yea
You can find more info here:

Topps Chrome Pokemon
I want that pikachu lol
YEAH BUDDY, BINDER VIDEO BABY, LIGHT WEIGHT UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHH!!!
I think the old watercolors are what really gives these appeal. Some of his art slapped on a stock background in the DP era look pretty terrible.
Say this 5 times fast
"That cardass card artists is ass"
Golem wtf
Honestly how could you bad mouth Ken Sugimori’s art
