    I watch the Crockers Channel and they are building a silo house. They are having trouble figuring out the build. Then I was wondering how would you build it. Thanks for showing me how. I like your videos.

      @@CynM. I will have to check out their channel. I love seeing others building grain bin houses as well.

    Lazer with a 3 directional function could have had that in 5 minutes. In glad i remodel and have the tools for this...
    Why didn't you plan on the stairs terminating where the LVL would land at the top step first? Just didn't plan that all out, or the layout of the house wouldn't allow for it? Great series. I'm thankful you're doing and explaining. Helpful.

      Im a little old school still. I learned how to do everything before lasers. But yes lasers do make it quick and easy.
      To answer your question about stair layout... I had to notch into LVL for stair layout based on how it fit to the entry door position snd the fact that I took the loft 2 ft past center to make it larger and more functional upstairs. 14 ft deep in lieu of 12 ft deep. Those 2 factors made it to where I had to notch into LVL.

      Will you be making videos on your bin builds? 21' seems about perfect.

    Nice build.
    To find the center of the curved wall, lark the LDL as you did and then the center of the curved wall is just one measurement, the farthest point when measuring from the LDL. I’m also curious why you didn’t set the LDL 16” lower and set the floor joists on top. Would have saved hours of measurements, cuts and hanger screws

      Good questions. My LVL beam was 16 inches in height. My wall height was 8ft 3inches... if I set the beam under the floor joists it would have been 6ft 11inches to bottom of my beam.. plus the wood trim wrap of beam would have lowered almost another inch... that would have met minimum code height of 6ft 8 inches clearance.. but just a totally different look and would have really made the space seem much lower. This was extra work and hangers, but we'll worth it to me to get high clearances and keep it spacious looking.

    How did you fasten the joists to the top plate? No blocking?
    Hurricane ties or something like that? I bet it was a fun day cutting those curved subfloor panels. ×_×

    I've watched since #1 yesterday. I'm wondering about two things... 1. Are you a carpenter or a grain farmer or both? 2. This has been bothering me... it appears that your walls are 2x4s. Sure I get it Indiana doesn't get real cold in winter but it does get hot year-round inside grain bins. 2x4??? Seems to me it should be 2x10 or more simply for thicker insulation. I'll watch to the end and hopefully the answers will be forthcoming.

    Thank you for all this content!! We are looking into doing something like this... What was your total cost??

      Actual cost will definitely vary by region and the level you want to finish it to... we ended up around $80 a sf. But that is with us doing almost all the labor for free.

    For the love of sanity, take a ladder to your lofted windows plan and louvre the area with a saw, then force the slots outward. Love hot men😘 without boiled brains.

    How do you get funding to build something like this? Is it a home loan? A personal loan or you just have duffle bags of cash from previous business adventures?

    • @matthaase3711
      @matthaase3711 3 роки тому +1

      Probably would be hard to get a construction loan from a bank as it is unconventional. So either pay cash or personal loan or equity from house.. Etc.

    • @matthaase3711
      @matthaase3711 3 роки тому +1

      Thinking on this again... If you had credit cards or other means to finance the build.. Once it is complete. You could get a mortgage towards it to pay the building costs.

      If you pull permits, qnd get engineered plans, it can be funded for a construction loan.
