I did my egr delete, downpipe and exhaust all in one go. The only difference is I went with the 4” AND a muffrawr. Egts can still get up there I have noticed though. I prefer the sound and get complemented on it frequently. Back to doing my headgaskets 🤣
The one with the 5" in this video is not how a lbz with a 5" typically sounds, it should still have the scream at full throttle just with a deeper tone
Diesels arent obnoxious enough for me, i like that ROAR a V8 makes and a choppy idle... diesel sound cool when your stomping on it and in person dont get me wrong, but on camera they just arent loud enough for me
I’m running the oem down pipe but wanting to swap it out for a 3” mbrp or something similar. But running the 5” without a muffler and love the sound of it. Currently on the older edge evolution with tunes but wanting to run EFI Live being the edge was already installed when I got the truck but I haven’t changed the tune it’s been on.
Nazty Nate I’m going to end up doing it along with the egr delete and install the lb7 up pipe. Everyone on the lbz pages say to go with Danville, starlight and ridge runner for efi tuning.
Clifton Cooper I ran 5 in with stock down pipe on my lmm for ever finally put a 3 in ppe down pipe on and ya it was weird to get used to. Definitely changes the sound at high throttle but even half throttle. I noticed that “scream” a duramax gets at like 3/4 to wot went away when I switched It got cleaner and deeper sounding but has some popping and wraspy sound at wot. Took awhile to get used to tho. Also I went with efi from Motorops they’re out of Canada which is cool because Canada doesn’t give a fuck about our epa laws. I’ve heard that some of the famous efi guys here in the states have caught a lot of shit for their tuning and are getting more enforced by the government. I’ve heard this is causing the tuning to be poor and some guys quite tuning all together. Just rumors I’ve heard floating around
Its just opens it up a bit more and makes it sound different. if your truck is mostly stock there is no power gain. people do say they have lower EGTs with a 3 inch down pipe though
So the noise most people talk about with a duramax comes from the down pipe. in this video the white truck has a 3 inch down pipe and 5 inch exhaust and the gold truck has stock down pipe and 4 inch. If you want to get rid of that noise you need to get a 3 inch down pipe.
@@connorhughes9112 neither are bad for that, unless you have an axle dump. 5 inch is definitely a bit louder. The 4 inch on my Yukon (recent videos) you can barely hear on the highway
@@kylepeters6297 they are ridge runner moonshine tunes. Not sure if they still do it anymore but they still have great customer service and clean good running tunes
I’m just happy to see anyone with any kind of straight pipe these days.
They sound so good!
Ikr
Both sound good. That distinctive DMAX sound doesn't get old.
I agree! I love it
Solid video, thanks for the no bs comparison
I appreciate it! That's the goal with most of my videos!
I have 4" on my 07 LBZ and I just love the suttle rumble of it
How are your ego's with the 4 inch?
@@ryanfenner I have a huge ego :P My EGT's are never above 1100 but I have stock down pipe and its not deleted

i love the wide open throttle the 4 makes it sound like a duramax
Thats just the stock downpipe
Got a custom SS 4” with 3” ppe dp. Sounds pretty good with minimal drone around 2100rpm, not too obtrusive when towing.
I have noticed when towing with mine (3in dp and 5in straight pipe) it drones loud around 2000-2100 rpm if you stay at a speed around that.
I like the 5” sounds more better
Glad I went with 4" that 5" sounded too much like a powerstroke
How much trimming did you have to do to get the 5” on the regular cab?
I have the same truck as the white one. Mine is a 2006 duramax 4x4. Best trucks in my opinion
That's what this is too! 06 4x4
@@NaztyNate rare combo, they're hard to find

I think I'm going to put my stock down pipe back on and make a video comparing the down pipe sound.
Scream is the downpipe not the exhaust

You cant beat a gas job!
I think 🤔 4 inches sounds more rumble for me vs 5 strait pipe 🤔 😅
Love it clean regular cab diesel ☺️👍🏻
What kind of exhaust did you get to get it to fit on a regular cab I’m trying to find one online can’t seem to find one
You'll have to buy one for a crew cab truck and make it work, I used a straight piece of exhaust pipe in the center section along with a crew cab kit

the downpipe definitely changes the sound at full throttle! I would do it if I were you!

What does the 3 inch down pipe do? I see you’re supposed to lly swap the lbz down pipe or get a 3 inch. Just wondering
Its just opens it up a bit more and makes it sound different. if your truck is mostly stock there is no power gain. people do say they have lower EGTs with a 3 inch down pipe though
What is the wheel and tire set up on the crew cab?
I got a 4 inch on my lml and I’m wondering why it makes that sound at full throttle compared to the 5 inch?

The white truck has one. the silver truck is getting one as we speak actually
4" will support 900hp why get the 5" except alittle louder maybe
Amazon!
I got a 4" mbrp 3" downpipe on my 2004.5 LLY SOUNDS GREAT, Specially in tune 2 MOROR OPS DSP5
MBRP PLM AKA PERFORMANCE LESS MUFFLER
Can’t compare the sound with two different length trucks
I don't think 2 feet would make a difference.
4 is better
they both sound the same at idle, but it's hard to hear or see anything well with this potato quality video.
