    I learn something new every video. I always look forward to when the next one comes out.
    What film is this and do you sell pre-cut kits as I don't have a plotter?
    Thanks !

      Unrelated but what does your ShinyFenders name mean?
      Thanks for the comment! :) It's really nice to hear that the videos are helpful and it helps keep me going when I want to turn the camera's off and pick up my speed. LOL
      We have started selling precut kit to our UA-cam viewers/subscribers. It's not something that we do for anyone else, not even for customers who show up at our shop. We use PremiumShield NextGen (mainly). We also have SunTek UltraTack and SolarGard ClearShield Hydro.

      @@EncorePPFtint Currently I am a software support analyst on banking computer systems. I've been working on cars since I was 12. I'm too old to drag race anymore and I don't want to restore any more cars. My wife and I started going to car shows. I combined car shows and photography. The plan was to build a website to sell photos of all the cars I had taken at the car shows "ShinyFenders". My wife came up with the name. In the end it was hacked by Ukraine and I decided to break away from computers for a while. Then a friend ask me to detail his car. Next thing I know I'm doing paint correction and ceramic coatings on Concor cars. I later added vinyl graphics and PPF installation. I am very close to retirement and I plan to do what I love, work on cars all the time. PPF installs are intense and challenging at times, watching your videos has greatly improving my skill level. You teach without the ego. I know making UA-cam videos is time consuming, so thanks again !

      I love all of that!! Great name. Congratulations on moving forward on some of your retirement goals (I look forward to that) and doing what you love. I can't put into words how much it means to me that the videos are helpful. That's what keeps me going. It is a lot of work, but is rewarding as well. Keep it up!! Feel free to reach out if you need some help or advice on any of your PPF installs.

    great content, thank you sir for taking the time to record and for explaining every step in detail. I just went to a two day training course for PPF Installations so watching videos like this will help me be more aware of different techniques. Personally I find the precuts quite challenging over the bulk method but when it comes to cutting relief cuts and going over edges I can see why the precuts would be superior for some front bumpers.
    Question for you: how long do you have to work with the film once you apply the slip solution? I'm hearing the longer you have it untacked the higher the potential to end up with silvering and/or dry pockets.... I'm interested to hear your thoughts
    Cheers,

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  4 місяці тому

      You have all the time you need really. You can keep pulling the PPF back and adding more slip solution. You'll see in some of my videos that it takes me a long time to get around to pushing parts down. Some bumpers can be very time consuming and the PPF just has to sit there and wait for you to get around to every area. There are areas that need to be worked out fairly quickly. Like once you do your 4 corner tack on a hood you'll need to get everything squeegeed out promptly. This is because you have the film stretched and tacked down on the 4 corners. The film on the hood is going to start tacking and you can't really pull the film back easily and add more slip solution. So, the situation may require you to work pretty fast. If you are bulking a full bumper and to put a lot of stretch on the film from left you right, you'll need to squeegee all the middle out fairly quickly as the tension on the film will cause it to start pre tacking. But if you add enough soap to your slip solutions and you can pull the film up a little to add more slip solution you'll be able to take your time. Check out this video I did on an older Corvette. Tons of stretch, but I was able to pull areas up a bit and that allowed me to spend the time I needed in each area without rushing. Sorry for the short story here.... LOL Long reply. Is a bumper section like this one easier to use a precut kit with because of the deep fog light recess?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Рік тому +2

      This is a great question. In this case, I feel that the kit is the better way to go and easier. I've bulked bumpers like this in the past. This is such a deep recesse that I feel you'd need a relief cut. It can be done without a relief cut, but I worry about longevity, and your odds of leaving work marks in the adhisive(while trying to get it down) are really high.
      So it's doable in one piece. It really comes down to your customer, expectations, how you are used to installing (what's going to come out cleaner looking), and do you believe it will last longevity wise. Work marks in the adhisive on a black car are a disaster. 👍🏻

    What about the parking sensor?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Рік тому

      I went back at the end and trimmed out the parking sensor and headlight washer. I've seen people leave parking sensors covered, and it doesn't seem to affect anything. As long as they are flush with the bumper and stick down well (evenly).
      The best install would have been to remove the headlight washer cover and wrap the ppf into it but I was trying to match the other side that did not need replacement.

    What kind of water do you use for the protection in PPF

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  10 місяців тому

      All of the water we use during our installs is run through a reverse osmosis system. That way, we are working with very pure, clean water that will not leave water spots. 👍🏻
