Thank you for all your content and hard work You put in making this videos! I have a question tho. I'm looking for 2016 Hyundai Genesis, but in my price range are only the ones with 90/100k miles on them, should I still go for it? Or after so many miles it's just a waste of money? Thank You and keep up the good work!
Scotty, I am blown away by your complete comprehensive approach to this subject! You even covered savings accounts, and the rates that you can achieve on them. Unbelievable and that’s why I keep watching. I am always getting so much smarter.
Scotty, you are a Dimond in the rough. Thank you so much for all you do. I sold cars for 18 years and coming from that world, everything you say is spot on! Your delivery is something else (in a good way)! Please don't stop being you. You have helped me so much!
I’m keeping my Corolla for the rest of my life. 2014 with 57k miles and my dad bought it for me before he passed away........that being said, if God forbid it gets totaled in an accident, I’ll have no choice
I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra with 170K miles and I'm the original owner of it. I know Hyundais aren't exactly considered the most reliable, but this particular car has been fairly trouble-free and easy to repair/maintain. Also recently upgraded it with a backup camera and a Kenwood head unit with wireleas apple carplay/Android auto. I never anticipated I would have it for this long, but I'm keeping it for as long as it runs, then I'll look for something else.
My brother's 2013 Kia Sorento engine locked up at only 80,000 miles for no reason. Thank God the dealer honored the 100,000 mile warranty. Best to run it till it dies, because no one is going to give you anything for it.
I bought a brand new 2021 subaru crosstrek with a 6spd here in Vancouver Canada. I was put on unpaid leave from my public bus driving career for a year for not taking the jab. I couldn’t afford payments. I sold it for $300 more than I paid for it after putting 20,000kms on it. Got myself out a debt. Just got my bus driving job back and all I can think about is buying a car. The same economy that rescued me yesterday… Thanks for all your good work!
Such a strange time right now. I graduate college in may and I'm intimidated by how expensive things like vehicles are. I don't want to set myself up for failure!
Great content as usual. I noticed you mentioned YAA in this vid as you have in the past. I wanted to let you know that they are officially changing their name to CarEdge this week. I will be in the new car market this year and have found their information about car buying a tremendous help. So many resources both free and with a membership--I'm a member. Thank you for all you do to help us consumers! Take care
I went to the local Toyota dealership today January 21, 2023. They had six, SIX new cars on their lot. Good luck buying one without a $2,000 "Market Adjustment" added on top of MSRP.
I had to buy another car last year, with the neighbors chimney falling on one of them and being sideswiped by another car on the freeway I didn't have much choice. However I bought a used car, a 2004 Honda Accord EX Sedan with the K24A 2.4l engine coupled with the 5sp manual transmission. I paid $2k for it and everything on it works and it runs like a top with a smooth shifting transmission. No regrets.
@@shanepatrick641 Thank you, it really is a nice comfortable car, and I don't have to worry about locking my keys in it cuz it has keyless entry, lol. And I buy nothing but manuals, I'm getting on in years and I hear people my age going on about they don't like to shift gears anymore. But I don't like automatics, they break, cost a fortune to fix, no fun to drive, and I still like to have fun. If I get to that point I have to have a car with an automatic, I'll take Scotty's advice and get a toyota, lol.
Sorry had a laugh when u said neighbour's chimney fell on ure car! What r the chances f this happening! U probably got compensation towards ure new car - rightly so!
Get a plate welded under the catalytic converter to keep thieves away. They especially target Honda cats. OEM replacements are very expensive and necessary to pass smog.
Replacement Greentec hybrid brand Battery failed 4 times in Less than a year. $2000+ down the drain. Greentec at 13659 Jupiter Rd Suite 205, Dallas, TX 75238 replaced my 2012 Prius C battery and its been nothing but problems. I live 3 hours away and have to keep going back to warranty it. Yes they replace it but what about the 6 hour round trip, gas and stress of dealing with them, they call me back 3 days after I report the failure, have me wait 3 more days to get the battery, and are pretry rude on the phone. Not worth it. Only buy Toyota OEM.
Problem in my area is that the car dealers advertise new cars at MSRP but they tack on an "Adjusted for Market Value" fee when you go to actually buy the car. Too many games going on and I cannot afford any of it.
Last year, in March, the head gasket blew in my 2001 Durango SLT 2wd. We've had the vehicle since 2006 (mom's car, now mine) so I knew it wasn't a "neglected car" issue as my mom never drove over 65 and took extra care of it (the nicest car she ever had) Ive always liked the 1st generation Durango and this one was still in great condition for the age, good leather interior, 3rd row, rear AC etc. Anyway it had been a couple years since we transferred it to me after it sat for a couple yrs so instead of paying someone $5,000 for a used vehicle in worse overall condition than mine, I opted for a mild dressed crate reman engine (basically original valve covers and intake plenum up weren't not included, and belt drive accessories (AC, alternator, etc) Came with a 3 year no-fault warranty, upgraded to 5 yrs and it came out a total of $4980, ✅ still no monthly payment, still no regrets in doing it, Durango runs like a dream and I'm getting 4 to 5 mpg more on the new engine (14.2 mpg average now). Oh and it took about 3 days to swap once engine arrived at my mechanics shop. Doing my dad's 2003 Dakota next (232k miles all original). They don't build them like they used to.
Lol. You picked a Dodge.. I've owned my 1996 Toyota 4runner since 2007. I hardly drive her now as I currently own 3 vehicles but she's able to drive me anywhere I want an still all original with 179k.
@@Antares_451 I saw on youtube a guy had a toyota tundra and never changed the coolant ever and the electrolysis from that old cooland ate right through the head gasket and pitted the cylinders. Now the engine is trash. Make sure you change the coolant.
@@MyLifeThai371 Kool, i'll probably do a coolant flush @ 100k but I'm currently @ 25k on my 2019 1794 4x4. My dad ain't never had a problem with his 2006 or his 2017 Tundra.
Bought a 1990 Toyota camry for 800 bucks with my dad. Needed some work but the total cost has come out to 2500 and now there's no indication it'll ever die
On top of that, it’ll chase away almost any woman not worth your while. A responsible woman will respect you for your responsibility with money. If it ever comes to it, that car is also big enough to handle a child, without needing a more fancy car. Whenever possible, stay off the road at night, especially Friday and Saturday night, and drive defensively and carefully. You’ll be fine.
Wow man, keep it and look after dude! Most people will scoff at those cars including these American girls I was video calling. While think those cars are amazing, if I ever live in the states I'm getting one!!
I bought a used car on New Year's Eve last year. I paid $AUS16,000, my insurer told me the market value is $13,300. I don't mind because it is the car I wanted - a manual 2015 Nissan Pulsar turbo, low kms, 1 lady owner from new. It's in very good condition, definitely not a tired engine.
i really wanted a normally aspirated v6 engine in my truck, and a stick shift, that sent me basically to one truck, a toyota taco, which im a huge toyota fan anyhow. i dont want some 2024 4 cyl turbo 4th gen taco, just want what they have been making for 7+ years, and heck, 20 years to some extent, a NORMAL v6 engine. anyhow, i got a stick shift taco off road with no bells and whistles for 40k from AL, i live in ga and they are still charging way too much, even charging market adjustments of $2500 so i bought from next door. anyhow, i feel i got a good deal for the times we are in. scotty is the BEST
I recently purchased a used vehicle and financed it at the dealership, then turned around and borrowed from my Bank on Yourself policy and paid off the bank. On a Bank on Yourself policy, it's a flat 5% interest, and the interest goes back into your own policy. Plus, you can choose your own payback terms, or not pay it back at all. If you choose the latter, the loan balance plus accrued interest is deducted from the death benefit for your beneficiary. Pretty cool.
we just bought a 2003 ford expedition eddie bauer with 5.4l engine and new transmission, 150k miles, for $3,600 - its in excellent condition, one owner, seems like a great deal to me on a used vehicle
@@EMichaelBall my understanding is its not so much a defect but bad maintenance such as wrong oil or low oil - this expedition was one owner who took good care of it as i will so i expect it to last the rest of my life, im 67
@@Sal3600 the expedition is in excellent condition and well cared for, even if it lasts only a couple of years it will still be worth the $3600 i paid for it - quite happy with it and dont feel ripped off
I really like this format of video that you've been doing over the last several months; the news/documentary style really works. Very informative and very well written. I'm in the market for a vehicle now to replace my 2004 Corolla with 330K miles on it; it still runs fine, but it looks like what it is, a beater car. I'm going to hold off as absolutely long as I can in buying a car because the prices are just completely off the rails expensive. I cannot justify paying what is being asked right now. When I finally do pull the trigger, I 'll be paying cash for it so financing is irrelevant for me. I've been watching YAA (Your Advocate Alliance) religiously lately and they're advising to wait at least 60 days and if possible, until next year before buying because the dealers are having the equivalent of a staring contest in not bringing down their prices to reasonable levels. They overpaid for their vehicles and since the interest rates went up, the market is softening up because for some reason, buyers can't afford $1,000 per month car payments (imagine that). So, they want to make their money back and a profit on those vehicles, but buyers can't afford it, hence the staring contest. I know I won't be blinking first.
If your want for a new car is purely for useless reasons, I advise you to drive your Corolla to the ground. Others’ opinions have a net worth of zero. I myself want to new Tundra for useful purposes. I have the cash. But I am waiting to at least June.
I just looked at a used Volkswagen recently, they are selling it for over 5000$ msrp. Keep in mind, this vehicle was 4 years old with 30k miles. They wouldn’t negotiate a dime off the car. I think I’ll stick with my 09’ civic right now.
If you have the money to buy your new car outright then you can play the market like I did. Last year I bought a brand new 2021 Mazda 3 for 24K drove it for a few months and sold it to another dealership for $26k. Then upgraded to the new 2022 Forte GT $29K. Drove it for about a year and sold it for $34K. Now I just ordered my next car. 2023 Camry TRD. $37k
For not much more, or maybe a little less, you can buy a used Tesla Model 3, which is far faster than the TRD, I’d RWD or AWD (no torque steer), and will have far fewer moving parts to break.
Check out “Cybrlft” on YT for info on Tesla and its FSD technology, which can take a lot off stress from commuting. Some used 3’s sold at Tesla stores have FSD included in the $38k price range.
I did want to upgrade to a newer car for the past two years but the prices and sales practices here in NY are insane. I’ll keep my 2012 Prius another year or two. Im in no rush for An EV either , love the hybrid it’s great on gas and no charging.
@@shadowhound5113 I have not had any issues with the battery. I only drive locally usually and have 92k miles on it, though have taken it on long trips and it’s been just great. Was looking for a RAV hybrid only bc my kids are bigger and need more room. Zero complaints w/the Prius.
No I did not purchase another car. I was thinking about it last summer but with the inflated prices I chose to pass. I own a 2014 Toyota Yaris LE with 158000 Kilometers (under 96000 miles). Only thing that doesn't work is the AC unit. I have a friend who's a licensed mechanic and over the last 2 summers we've charged the system. He found the issue and he will replace the parts in March just before the hot weather. It will cost around $1000. So I won't be buying any time soon. My car is paid for so why go back into debt. I enjoy your videos I watch them almost daily. Thank you for your time and efforts. Marcel Victoria British Columbia, Canada.
How to beat high car prices: 1) Learn to work on cars from the 90’s and early 2000’s. 2) Buy a mechanically solid, paint-faded 90’s or early 2000’s car from a southern state like Texas or Florida. A “mechanic special” is best. 3) Fix car with your new-found knowledge for pennys on the dollar and drive that POS like it’s a Porsche.
So true. I went to look at a preowned 2023 Kia sportage with 7800+ miles on it. Someone was buying it as I came to look at it. I ended up purchasing the same car brand new for less money. The only difference I’m the car is the paint on the used car was extra.
Paid 3700 for a 1973 American Motors Ambassador with all the bells and whistles. Never bought a new car since. Most I paid for a used car ever since was 800 dollars.
I Bought a 2011 Rv4 v6 after my 2010 Tundra got wrote off by a deer at a 100mph(170kmph) on the highway. THE V6 Rav4 has way more power to weight then the tundra. I have a second Tundra crew max for towing.. But Was Shocked at how Quick the V6 Rav is. Reminds me of how Quick that my snowmobiles are . WHY Doesn't Toyota Gazoo make a v6 rav4 that will do 140 mph (218 kmph) again?? Step on it at 100 mph and it pulls as hard as it does at 40. Talk about Fun!! We Tried my Neighbors Rav4 Prime and my v6 will blow the doors of the Prime. Thought the Prime had 300hp?? In the snow The v6 is awesome! Esp Here in Canada.
We are in the market for a new car but the market is not for us. Cars are too expensive. Although much of the huge markups have gone the cars dealers have are so loaded with items we don't want or need the prices are crazy.
Great topic Scotty. Got a Honda Civic LX during the Dec 22 sale after driving my Hyundai for over a decade. It is a 2018 civic. Got it for a little under 20K.. Less than 35 K miles on it. I was sold on the Honda CPO program that gives me a 1 year non power train warranty… and the 7 yr 100K powertrain. The best point- less than one percent interest financing deal from Honda…. Which is almost like a ‘free’ Loan. I do not expect a car to have zero problems…. But a Honda true certified CPO from a proper Honda dealership is the way to go.
Your video made me think of something. The microelectronics industry is very fast paced . You can get the latest and greatest easily but try and get a component that’s 10 years old. This is not a problem for most consumer items. Buy a new one and throw the old one away. This will be hard to do with a car that cost 70k when it was new.😢
I think because of the fast paced nature as well as ease of reverse engineering automotive components and circuits, the after-market industry will keep pace with whatever the auto-makers think up. And on the reverse end of the spectrum, you can still get ALOT of brand new parts for your 1912 Ford Model T at RockAuto, for example. :)
If you want prices of car to go down stop overpaying for them. A lot people are stupid for purchasing a car with over one hundred thousand miles for $20 or $30 grand.
Yes - did buy a new car in the summer of 2022, but did not overpay. As per one of your tips, I worked with the dealership, starting with email, beforehand and had a very good experience from start to finish. The dealership was part of an organization in Ontario that keeps prices at or below MSRP, and indeed I got the vehicle for below MSRP. They also didn't "make it up" anywhere else. Their freight/delivery fees were less than half of other dealers, and they had no ridiculous things like "administrative" fees. All hidden things one normally has to look out for. Hardly the first time I've dealt with a dealership, so I went into this knowing what to do and how to do it, but did come out pleasantly surprised at such an honest experience, especially in such a sellers-market. For anyone curious, the dealer was Subaru of London, London, ON, Canada.
Your right, for some reason we seem to do a little better up here. Some sales people really do care about their customers, I found that out personally. The word caring does mean something up here, thank God. 😎👌👍
@@davidkucher5.0Coy _Sometimes_ they do, yeah. The sales person I got was phenomenal in this case. For every good one though, you're still likely to get 10 or more bad ones, even up here. I was also looking at a couple Toyota models too, and dealing with their sales people at the two different dealers London has was a pretty lack-lustre experience. They just didn't much care, and that apathy cost them a sale.
I have been looking at a 2013 4 runner with 126,000 miles they want $22,000 . I just cant see paying that much for a 10 year old car with over 100K miles !!!
I have a 2020 Honda Civic and about 6 months ago Honda called me and offered to buy it outright, including several fender benders, give me extra thousands, and get me into a good used car. I said NO. lol
OKAY , REALLY EXPENSIVE BATTERIES , SO WHY NOT ALLOW THE WHEELS BE THE CHARGING SYSTEM WHILE YOUR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ? IT'S MAKES A HELL OF A LOT OF SENSE TO !! "YOU THINK " !!
When I bought my 4Runner new in summer 2019 the dealership had them as far as the eye could see. They couldn't give them away. Hell mine was covered in dust and pollen from just sitting. 4 years seems like a life time ago now.
I bought a new car, Toyota Camry Sport and the base was 28,000 but with an 8 year/125,000 warranty I paid 33,500. My payments are sky high over 5 years. Currently my second job is paying for it. 😞
Oh my God Scotty you're so right! You have no idea how the MSRP is in buying cars down here in South Florida, that's where I'm from! I was just recently in a car accident and my car was totaled (Thanks to the other driver)!☹️ I did have a manual 2002 Saturn SL. It was one of the finest, best and most reliable vehicles I've ever owned!!!! I missed it dearly.😭😭 Now I am forced to purchase a new vehicle! And the prices on these vehicles are ridiculous! I am outraged on how much the prices have increased for a used vehicle! But now that I have watched your video it all makes sense. Thank you! I will be putting my new knowledge from your video into buying myself a new or used vehicle in the future!💖👍🏼💯😁
First off, don’t give money to anyone claiming to be Scotty. Secondly, look for a 2004-08 Corolla, Matrix , or Pontiac Vibe, and check the oil once in a while, because those engines have oil burning tendencies. Otherwise, they’re very reliable; Scotty owns a 2007 Matrix.
@@EMichaelBall LOL thanks I appreciate that. My son's a mechanic for BMW and he came across a client who is literally giving away his 2002 Honda Accord. Supposedly everything works in it. It has leather interior it's black-on-black with sunroof and all the fine works and gadgets with it. Hopefully it will do me good. It's the best news that my son gave me all night! Wish me luck 🤞🏼😃
Buy a Honda FIT. My 2008 gets 36 mpg and I can use it as a pickup. I have hauled a 20 ton shop press, silverado transmission and car engine in it. Most practical gas car ever! $5000-$6000, so affordable.
@@MyLifeThai371 I had a 2013 fit I just sold last year at 120k miles it was the best Honda I ever had. eXCEPT for the front axles kept snapping every couple years I had to replace both front axles. I almost got killed the last time I went to pull out into traffic and SNAP! Complete stop in middle of road nearly got broad sided! Bought it with 10 miles. Had it 3 years put 120k miles and 4 sets of axles at $1,400 a time. But other then that I never had any issues.
Hydrogen fuel cell technology makes more sense, in my opinion. You will never get the range needed in battery-powered cars. Especially in cold climates. Cummins is in the works, converting their 6.7l diesel to hydrogen fuel cells. I read it would have a range of 300-400 miles, but you could fill-up in minutes. Be cool if Scotty did a video on this.
To those able to fix and maintain stuff themselves, there are fine 90's models out there that will do the job just fine. Many good comfort cars, from the area just before they started loading up with electronics for real
Scour the internet nation wide to find the cheapest new car price OTD. Print it out & see if your local dealer can meet or beat that price. Worse case, do a dealer to dealer transport with a small fee $100-600 if it makes sense.
I still have my 2000 Toyota Tundra SR5 that I purchased new for $20,000 out the door. I take care of it and it drives great. It has the been taken care of. It does not get great gas miles, about 18-19 miles per gallon. It is just so dependable. It serves its purpose. I can not see myself paying over $50,000 plus for a similar Toyota truck. I am looking for a another pick up but smaller since my CPA recommends I get another vehicle so I can depreciate it from the business. I can take advantage of the IRS code 179. so the hunt goes to find a smaller pick up without the sticker shock.
i have a toyota highlander 17 still owe 2 years and a half worth of monthly payments that’s because i leased it at the begining and refinanze the vehicle’s remaining balance, now they call me from toyota they want to buy my vehicle i just don’t want to get into a higher debt because at the end you will want another car
I work in the automotive aftermarket and I can tell you most mechanics don't have a clue and don't wanna touch EVs. They're really dangerous to work on given the high voltages. Training stalled over the pandemic and it's still not in a good place now, and costs a lot of money and time to get up to speed. Mechanics are salt of the earth folk they don't get paid a lot, and many are self employed. That makes training a challenge especially entirely new fields. What makes it worse is that mechanics and car parts people use decades of experience to navigate the insane number of differences and changes that manufactures make within a model let alone model to model, for parts. A lot of that pain is taken away by knowledgeable staff and suppliers keeping stock. In the future we're looking at a serious shortage of trained mechanics, parts that take days to get in if are even available, cost a lot more and more often than usual will probably be the wrong part when they do come in.
Finding a good used car at an affordable price is almost a thing of the past. There is a large percent of the population who simply cannot afford a big car payment and pay their other Bill's, rent, power, insurance, food, medical, child care, etc. I dont know what we are supposed to do. I just hope my car holds out a good while longer.
Thank you for your insight. I am in the predicament of needing a car due to a total loss of my vehicle. Insurance gave me a settlement. I am considering continuing the rental car which is set at $27 per day, not having to be responsible for the maintenance, holding off until the market stabilizes. I have had some sales man telling me that he will have a car ready in 48 days that is the only one that the dealer is receiving. I am not happy with the colors with the car (Silver outside/Brown interior). I told him that I was not in a hurry to buy as I am going to continue to rent. Told him that my goal is to fully pay for it and the question is how motivated his dealer is to sell me the car. I am looking at the Toyota Sienna or wait until after the Summer for the 2024 Grand Highlander. I am in FL and with the last hurricanes, I am afraid that the car may have sustained damage.
Yeah cars like Lucid, Tesla or any other car with a large interactive screen… pain in the but for distracting from looking at the road. I wonder if this problem has been tracked ?
Thanks for a great video, Scotty. I live in Norway, and everything you said is true. Early on, they heavily incentivized owning EVs, but those perks are slowly going away because the government realized that they aren't getting as much money in. I bought my first car, a Kia Niro-EV in the summer of 2022, and while it's a great car I still have reservations. The range in the summer is great, and the winter isn't that bad where I live, but the range anxiety still gets me. The car was new in 2021 and was never driven off the lot for a year cause they imported like 50 of the same cars. I've actually been considering swapping it for a fossil fuel car because the technology of the EV still has its shortcomings.
@@louishumphreys5451 Yeah, I'm seriously considering it. Only thing is that gas and diesel in my area has been a steady $6 a gallon, so fuel economy is vital. The last car I drove before I bought mine was my mom's 2015 Toyota Rav4, and it was amazing.
At the end of September 2022, up in Montreal, I traded in my 2021 Crosstrek Outdoor with over 60,000km in to get my new 2023 Limited Crosstrek PHEV. I got more money for my Outdoor than the new sticker price on the car when I bought it! I was amazed, but I heard that used car prices have once again fallen back closer to what they previousely were. Or at least it is getting back there in mid-2023.
Favourite Scotty video bar none! LOVE the quality of these new types of videos of yours. Also, I just bought a brand new Nissan Armada, biggest tip: make sure you choose to buy at the end of the year (dealers slowest sales times) and buy a model year older, even when new. So I bought a 2022 when they had 2023s on the lot, and saved over 12K by doing so, cause they were anxious to get it sold. ☺️
I bought my Camry just in time before prices went insane. Now if it ends up getting totaled, I’d just borrow one of my mom’s cars until car prices drop since she has an extra one.
Look after it man, I'd love a camry one day. They've returned to the UK in 2020. But sadly they are all hybrids. But luckily the big normally aspirated engines are coupled with it. Unlike ford with its teeny tiny 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder turbo with direct injection coupled with a hybrid battery. 🙄
Same here. I bought a high mileage Honda Fit. I thought about keeping my 2005 Mustang as a back up, whenever the high mileage FIT might break down, but have decided to sell it and just borrow mom's car as well.
I know a gal that bought just the kind of vehicle that I've been looking for. She got hers at a good price right before the shortage of vehicles started and now I would have to pay twice the amount she paid if I could even find a little truck like she got. My plan is to wait as long as I can to buy something so that I can get what I want.
You can avoid a lot of the hassle of buying a car if you just lease. No interest rate, just the money factor, and it's almost always lower. Also, know exactly what you want (make/model/trim) so you can't be steered away. Best advise is to do all negotiation through e-mail or over the phone. Easy!
And always have a payment to make every 30 days. No thanks. I’m 50 and I’ve never had a car payment. Save up your money, buy a car you can afford and drive it forever. Car payments keep people poor
I was at my Fiat Alfa Romeo dealer having some work done on my 2013 Fiat 500. They had 5 or 6 used Fiat 500 s at 15K or so, that is what I paid for my 2013 ten years ago.
While low inventory numbers may work in the dealership's favor on pricing, it's also is a downside as it's harder for them to sell what they do have (less choices on colors, trims, etc) so it's a double-edged sword.
I used to think repair was always cheaper, but my younger sister's car has turned into a money pit. We have a trusted mechanic we've gone to for years, but $250 twice in 8 months (transmission lines rusted, new radiator, replace brake lines) and upcoming power steering leak problem, and the abomination of work to replace spark plugs and wires (seriously, they had to put them under all this crap! 04 Hyundai Santa Fe) make me fit for a padded cell! "They're coming to take me away, haha!".
Doesn’t physics suck? Scotty mentioned using a credit card to buy a car. Okay, I just got a mailer from Capital One for a really good deal on a new card: 0% apr for the first 90 days, and after that a really good deal of (hold onto your hat) 28.99%! 😵💫 What a deal! My credit card doesn’t leave the house except for a dire emergency. Those people are out of their ever loving minds.
How ironic that the waste produced from the making of EV vehicles is so much more destructive to the environment than the manufacturing of any internal combustion car.
If the 25 year import rule didn’t exist we could buy a used car or maybe even a brand new one, say from Europe, for way cheaper including the shipping costs.
Just bought a used 130,000 mile 2012 AWD Accra MDX entertainment technology package that plays video games in the back and couldn't be happier. Even the back leather seats are heated. Car dealerships are charging a new line item called market premium adjustment. It’s just bonkers!

My teacher has a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica and just last month the head gasket blew on it too.

What bank do you have?
How does this work?????

If you have the money to buy your new car outright then you can play the market like I did.

Yeah. but a resistor is always a resistor. Old tech last forever.
Avoid buying as much as possible, and the gouging will stop.
The probably is cars are a necessity.
If you want prices of car to go down stop overpaying for them. A lot people are stupid for purchasing a car with over one hundred thousand miles for $20 or $30 grand.
We are our own worst enemies, refuse to overpay the corrupt car industry/dealers.

@@davidkucher5.0Coy _Sometimes_ they do, yeah. The sales person I got was phenomenal in this case. For every good one though, you're still likely to get 10 or more bad ones, even up here. They just didn't much care, and that apathy cost them a sale.

I totally agree, if I could ever buy one for 2000 them I'd go for hydrogen fuel cell!
just bought a 98 sub legacy for $800. All it needed was a rear wheel bearing and a oil change. Runs great.
To those able to fix and maintain stuff themselves, there are fine 90's models out there that will do the job just fine. Many good comfort cars, from the area just before they started loading up with electronics for real
New cars aren’t worth it finally somebody thinks like me 😅
Scour the internet nation wide to find the cheapest new car price OTD.
Thank you Scotty for a *"REAL WORLD, EYE OPENER"* video.😲😲😲
i have a toyota highlander 17 still owe 2 years and a half worth of monthly payments that’s because i leased it at the begining and refinanze the vehicle’s remaining balance, now they call me from toyota they want to buy my vehicle i just don’t want to get into a higher debt because at the end you will want another car
Excellent research and presentation Scotty! Thanks for the info!
Old news..
Thank you Scotty for showing how to keep windows going up and down! My 07 monte carlo STILL WORKS!!!! But, the car needs to be replaced!!!!
Are you kidding??? That'd be almost 1500 a month to rent a car!!.. and, honda is as good as toyota.
Don't blame you. The wheels are falling off the bandwagon anyway as Scotty says.
Get rid of it, while you still can. Can't beat gas/diesel.
@@SpookyFaceGaming lol can't kill those Rav4's.
Just bought a Honda Clarity PHEV for $18K. Being able to switch between electricity and gas has its perks.
Get a plate welded under the catalytic converter to keep thieves away. OEM replacements are very expensive and necessary to pass smog.
@@EMichaelBall thanks! I’ll be doing just that! Cat theft is actually why I ditched my previous car 😂
I never have even though that is a option on most hybrids.
Did you get it for MSRP price?
@@MyLifeThai371 Just under ☺️
@@rosenfaden You are one tough negotiator!
Just bought a brand new 2023 Mazda 3 hatchback under MSRP
I have been saving my money for a 1999 Lexus LX470 buying it in two weeks .
@@kumasagatimr.4568 I'll def look into it.
last July i bought Volvo c70 2010 D4 with D5 engine for 6500 usd , best decision EVER :)
True but no one feels bad for dealers 😅
I used to think repair was always cheaper, but my younger sister's car has turned into a money pit. We have a trusted mechanic we've gone to for years, but $250 twice in 8 months (transmission lines rusted, new radiator, replace brake lines) and upcoming power steering leak problem, and the abomination of work to replace spark plugs and wires (seriously, they had to put them under all this crap! 04 Hyundai Santa Fe) make me fit for a padded cell! "They're coming to take me away, haha!".
I bet it is NOT a Toyota !!!
Yeah Hyundai dude. Tell her to trade it in for a Toyota!!
Well Scotty always said, the Hyundai is generally one to stay away from.
But what do u do? Im n same situation -want t get rid f the headache of repairs but its not a good time out there t buy!
That’s nothing! Dont be foooish!
I managed to get a 2021 Acura TLX with 42k miles on it for $29,700 out the door been eyeing it for a while had to hop on the opportunity…
How ironic that the waste produced from the making of EV vehicles is so much more destructive to the environment than the manufacturing of any internal combustion car.
Yep, the electric car loonies don't want to mention that do they?
Is a 2007 Toyota Camry with 155,000 miles worth 5k$?
If the 25 year import rule didn’t exist we could buy a used car or maybe even a brand new one, say from Europe, for way cheaper including the shipping costs.
Japan, they have tons of low mileage, reliable cars if u dont mind right hand drive
My Toyota dealer has lots and lots of 2 wd 2023 Tacoma's for under $30,000. I think that's a great deal.
Where is that at
Where are you?
Just bought a used 130,000 mile 2012 AWD Accra MDX entertainment technology package that plays video games in the back and couldn't be happier. Even the back leather seats are heated. I have room to sleep in this thing with extra room to spare. Talked dealer down to $11,400. I'm glad I didn't buy a brand new Toyota Prius instead. 😉
Car blew up couldn’t wait had to buy this week but I agree with what he says
I am buying a car this year...getting a Subaru Crosstrek...paying $30,000 (cash). This will probably be my last ice car..I will keep this car for at least 10 years...My Fiat 500 I bought for $14K on the road is priced at $9000 with 108,000 miles..crazy.
Scotty could tell me to rob a gas station and I'd listen
I just bought a 2023 Tacoma sport premium for 63k Canadian, a dealership In Kelowna BC wanted 54k before taxes for a 2020 Tacoma with over 30k km so it was 4k more for a 3 year old one compared to brand new one. I'm pretty happy with that price and the decision I made
Thas ridiculous....in 2 years it's gonna be worth like 20k less. They always lose like 20% of their value when you takeout off the lot.and, new cars and trucks aremde with cheap metal, cheap plastic..and too many computers....not even close to being worth it
What's your interest rate on your new Tacoma? I'm waiting for mine but I'm considering backing out because of these interest rates and cost...
What is the production company going to pick you up and put you on TV Scotty? Very entertaining to watch and listen to you the topics you pick are on spot Looking forward to your next episode.
Thanks Scotty
I bought my '95 toyota p/u with the 22re 12 years ago for 2700, and my '97 Celica St limited 5-spd for 4000 8 yrs ago, both run flawlessly and I have replacement parts for both to keep 'em going for years. Both vehicles have saved me thousands over the years, and I'll just keep piling up cash.. I also want a 2000 or 1999 Rav 4 with a 5-spd 4cyl if I can find one...they're hard to find in good shape here in my state.
i am kicking myself for not having enough money to buy a 1 owner avalon with low mileage so i guess will have to wait for it to drop even more
So glad I bought my new 2019 RAV XLE AWD for $28K!
