You seem like a good guy trying to do the right thing.... By informing the public. So don't mention the trolls on your videos. That is what they feed off of... ignoring them is the best retaliation. 👍👍👍
Not sure why you turned on me, but you used to be very supportive of the channel. I have 33 comments from you in the past 10 months, and up until I didn't reply to one of your questions about updating the DJI Go4 app, they were all quite positive. Then you turned against me. Not sure what's going on there.
@@51Drones Hey buddy a shout out from New Zealand. Havent really followed too closely but just remember you are always surrounded by idiots. Protect youself at all times. Keep your chin up and keep up the good work. We the silent majority who follow you are learning all the time, appreciate your time and energy. Cheers.
Big time. Ignore them ... But keep in mind troll comments and dislikes still boost your algorithm 😁😉
@@51Drones You know when someone is negative towards a UA-camr its because they live in their moms basement
You can't change designation between 107 and hobbyist (or the other way around) DURING the flight. You must choose one or the other before you take off and stick with the protocols of the designation you chose preflight.
Understood. Watch my Part 107 cert video I just posted.
@@51Drones, I just mentioned it because you said "during" on this video. Just wanted to clarify. Cheers!
Here in 2020 as a new drone owner - thank you for your work.
Golden circle on orange... loved both video. As a grandpa of 4 look forward to learn more about my mavicpro
Being new to Drone flight(phantom 3) ...thanks for great tutorial...looking forward to learning more.
I think you do a great job of explaining all the ins and outs of droning. Your articulation, pacing and rhythm are spot on. Very easy to listen to.
Good tips thanks. For night footage I’ve mostly seen people recommend never taking your iso above 400 and instead increasing the shutter speed. A high iso causes more noise in the picture.
Flying in sport mode is not the only way to turn off your sensors, although it’s the easy way.
I really am impressed with Orange83 hope to learn how to shoot video like him. Thanks for your help
Thatnk you for the info from both videos very helpful. Im a mechinac and have driven alot of things but flying a drone is alot different. I watched your videos before i bought my drone rhank you for all your help
Jim Soucie Jr I'm so glad to be of some help! I hope you have many years of fun!
I wish I could get pictures like that. I have a hs120 but I am still learning. I really did love his video
Here in Australia you are not allowed to fly your drone at night as a hobbyist. However, as a commercial drone pilot with the proper training and exemptions from CASA you can fly at night. Thanks for posting the video, as always informative and educational.
i bought mavic 2 pro a month ago but flew it few days ago ... its fun and very adventuresome
I fly 3-4 times a week at night, what I use to keep site of my Mavic Pro is bicycle strobe lights. Both EBay and Amazon have. Them and they come in white or red and have 4-5 different strobe modes.. they strap on with a rubber O ring type strap. I prefer the white strobes and mount one on the underside of the rear arms. They are rechargeable and about $10 a pair.
memtenn60 Great idea!
I like your Channel I just ordered a DJI mavic Mini. one of the reasons I started watching your channel is because of your left ear are you still roll a lot and my ears are gnarled. Brothers of the Mat
It is not just revenue that separates the hobbyist and 107 flights. If the flight does not produce revenue, but is in the furtherance of a business, even a not-profit, it comes under 107. Otherwise, a great video.
so technically all the flying done in his videos are part of the 107! Right?
Thanks for the tips. Will be flying with my RC club in a couple of weeks at nite. Did it last year. What a blast! Get some altitude and spiral down with the yaw; Quite a light effect! Flying an Autel X-Star Premium.
You should update the discription and ad the FAA Advisory Circular 91-57B to the list.
Visual line of sight is only one part, you also need to see whats on the ground under the drone, like people an vehicles.
Great tips! I love to fly at night with my MAVIC Pro. Thanks for the video! Cheers from Argentina!
I didn't watch the entire video but I wanted to point out is when your up 100-200 feet at night have a spotter and listen for airplanes, and helicopters flying nearby it's difficult to judge what altitude they are flying at you can see the lights hear the noise. Sometimes small jets or light aircraft have their engines at low power as they are descending down to an airport. I'm just on the edge but not inside the 5 mile radius of an airport doesn't get lot of night traffic. Helicopters such as police helicopters fly over frequently one thing I don't want to do is get those guys all fired up over my drone I find it best to just land quickly long before they are near where I'm flying. I like taking night pictures when there is no wind with long shutter openings get some great city shots of fixed lights with streaking reds from cars driving by. I found video not to be as interesting as still shots are can't wait for summer thunderstorms I can get some great lighting shots.
I just brought a dji mavic air. The main purpose is to do my paranormal research so i need to fly at night to shot the footage of the paranormal area and make a maping from above. Thanks for the advice.
Yes, watched Orange 83; we have visited Iceland and it was a highlight of our trip that included Europe and England.
Thanks for the information. Very cool.
Great video thanks
A better recommendation is to document the status under which you are flying in your UAS Pilot Logbook.
Since Orange 83 had to pay to enter Kerid crater, I've asked if special permission was required to fly there. Our national parks just say no. But you're right. He made the Mavic Air look amazing!
Very good, I went to Orange83, very good indeed! I have a mavic air also and flying in the country side of Sao Paulo/Brazil. Thanks
I’ve noticed the same thing in regards to the focusing of the Mavic pro. The auto focus isn’t very good at night conditions. I’ve tried the manual focus with much better results though. I didn’t even know there was a manual focus adjustment until a few weeks ago. Thanks for the video!
Very good advice. Informative
Great video. Thanks.
I believe in the U.S., in order to fly at night you also need anti-collision lights, as both a hobbyist and a part 107 pilot. I could be wrong but that's my understanding. I bought a very bright strobe light for the top of my drone just to be on the safe side. Great video and thanks for the info!
Thumbs up already. I seen this when I was dreaming about owning one. Finally got a Spark. Im back to review. Thx
Watched it. Thanks!
Right on with the differences between the MP and MA as the MP does not do well in dim lighting.
I watched his video, I sure hope I can visit Iceland soon, have a good friend that is from there. Beautiful country.
I’m in Brasil and love all your videos!!!! Just learning a lot with your tips! Orange3 is awesome!!!Congratulations!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's Summertime in Oregon just went paddling. Orange 83 is keeping me indoors too much. It's a wintertime site, you might have waited.
Thanx ...great info.
Bud
Thank you. Great informative video. Its great he keeps reassuring the audience that his information is correct and accurate.....i dont like those that arent exactly sure with the subject matter and always offer vague statements, like "....you MAY..." instead of "you WILL"....lacking definiteness of accuracy of information.
I dont know if it's been mentioned, but I was messing around with mine and yours looked similar so I thought I'd suggest... I am fairly new to the post editing aspect of footage, so now I am experimenting with the tons of clips I've acquired and ran across a great end product by adjusting the "sharpening" in post edit and having the AIR settings at 0/0/0 and if you apply a sharpening filter to your CLEAREST/BEST night footage, it might do some interesting things.
Good informative video! And super awesome that you recommended my channel, I appreciate that very much!
I subscribed, so nice people are working to help each other. ua-cam.com/users/andychipling always hopeful of extra subscribers.
Oh hey Orange83 the guy who prefect at edit videos ^^ already subscribed to you man keep the videos coming :D
Watched the Orange 83 videos and subscribed to both him and you. Just got a Mavic 2 noticed It has manual focus, that should help with the focus drift at night.
Liked the Orange 83 video. Been a 107 pilot for almost a year now. Getting paid to do what I love to do.
I watched the video and Orange 83 had an outstanding video of Iceland.
Excellent video thanks. Just watched the part1 Iceland vlog.
I experimented with night flying by hanging 4 bicycle lights pointing downwards as markers, on a bebop2.
Thank for the clarification. I have my 107 license and I thought I was handcuffed because of night rule. Pointing out as long as you are not doing commercial work is helpful. I don't need the LED lights but I did watch the video
awesome i gone dry that flying at night gone be fun i wasn't sure if it was legal thanks a lot for the info
I watched the Orange83 video. Iceland is a wonderful country definitely worth visiting.
I got a phantom 4 for the flight time. Or id have gotten the spark. Playing for 30 minutes vs 12 is gr8.
I've been doing a bit of research myself before my first flight - just ordered my first drone the other day! It has been pretty confusing with part 107, section 336, etc, etc, and not night flying specifically, but the "leash" you mentioned was something I thought existed if you want to go beyond being a hobbyist. Thanks for clearing this up for me! Also, I watched and subscribed to Orange 83's channel - thanks for the recommendation.
I really appreciate all your information are you right
I have a p4p and it does really well in low light.
Haters are going to hate. Keep a thick skin. All your comments were spot on! Oh, and I wish I had today's tech (and drones) during the 3 1/2 years I lived in Iceland! Amazing place!
orange 83 does great work, sure would like those lights for my mavic pro
Thanks for the advice
Awesome video from Orange 83. Please do not pick me for the lights as I am waiting for the Mavic Pro II to come out and I only have a Phantom 3 at this time.
before I watch this clip of yours, sir, I am a subscriber of orange 83 his videos and tutorials were all great!
Mavic Pro on focusing is so true! I am a cert. pilot sUAS and live in the D/FtWorth area and is all class B & D airspace so even if I fly at night unless I'm at a *AMA field* then you have to have a waiver to my knowledge? Where you are might be E or G air space and what you say is correct. Just mentioning that the air space makes a difference as a hobbyist. I use Airmap and it is good for letting me know where I can fly and how high. You no doubt have your 107 now so enjoy and be safe and I did enjoy your video. :-)
This video is so Minnesota. Love it.
Added 2 new subscriptions- 51Drones and Orange83. Great Stuff! I'd love to be chosen as the recipient of those lights, only if they fit my Mavic, otherwise I hope someone else enjoys them. Again, good stuff!
A year later, but I watched the Orange video! :D
Great video, thanks for the knowledge!
I watched his video. Alot of traveling but very beautiful videos and waterfalls. Going to have to put it on my bucket list
Tonight in Colorado the sun set was so beautiful. I got my drone out just to go straight up and see if I could take a picture. Started it up took off and it went out of control and flew into a tree. Broke 3 propellers. Do I have to turn of some setting? It wasn't even that dark out side.
Could be many things. Possible IMU needed to be calibrated or some type of strong interference in the area?
Large tin buildings nearby can cause this to happen. It’s happened to me once. Also make sure the compass is calibrated and u have atleast 9 satellites locked or more before take off
Part 107 increased flying freedom where you have proximity to an untowered airport or airfield in Class G airspace. The hobby rules required to contact tower (isn't one) or airport manager (weekdays maybe). But Part 107 does not require notifying anyone in that particular fairly common circumstance because you take responsibility for the flight. Actually, Part 107 forbids contacting ATC. If you need clearance, use LAANC (usually quick and easy) or get a waiver (neither quick nor easy but the only way at times to fly in Surface E airspace).
Section 336 has been repealed. The FAA continues basically the same set of rules for hobby fliers but it is no longer congressionally protected and the FAA can change those rules any time they wish.
The current rules for hobby flying www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_fliers/ "Do not fly at night unless your drone has lighting that allows you to know its location and orientation at all times."
good info ....my nephew launched his mavic downtown from hotel balcony and got great photos but it scared the crap out of me just seeing lights out there to go by....I will need to practice with my phamtom 4 v2.0 in a field down the road first....cheers...thank..
Thank you, However you'll find the name of the waiver as per the FAA "Daylight waiver" 107.29 (it's giving you a waiver removing the restriction of daylight flying only)
Yes, I know, but to avoid confusion, (as the term often does!) I called it a night waiver in this video. I should have clarified that I guess. Thanks!
hey, we'll all give you a break, you're supporting my hometown MN Twins!
ORANGE 83 Is awesome. Im really enjoying his videos!
Orange 83 video was great, I think I want a 6500. Really like those lights.
wow...I'v been waiting for some clearity on flying at night, good info.
I fly strictly hobby for fun, , I was wondering about the night flying, because I live in a small town and was thinking of sending my drone straight up clear of the trees and try to take a video of the fireworks across town, maybe 2 miles away this 4th of July...I have a Q500 4K and you are right it has plenty of lights on it and I will just be hovering in place while taking the video, when I am done it will come straight down again .......
OK the 4th is over and as suspected, I was to far away......little sparkle specks in the distance ........
The red horse in the background is called a "dalahäst" , which is a typical handcrafted wooden horse made in the area "dalarna" in Sweden :) I don't know how it got to the United States though.
Thanks for the tips about flying at night. The video from the other UA-camrs that you mentioned was absolutely awesome thanks for sharing
Love your helpful videos and Loved Orange83 breath taking
That was great. I didn't think it was allowed but use common sense, and do it a lot. As far as setting m seeing and avoiding aircraft YOU ARE MUCH SAFER! The lights are visible for miles.
Interesting point about the fixed focus vs variable. I've found the same thing.
I play the rules and thanks you for all your great ìnormation👍
Enjoyed your comments and loved the night flying feedback. PS Hope I'm not to late for a chance at some lights. Ray
I always heard couldn't fly at night but I had done my own research and found out I could and I been night flying for a year now. As u I also dont have 107 yet but studying for it. Thanks for the info to oranges page and keep up the good work bud!!!
This is the first time I have watched one of your post, and answered a question I have all was wondered about the LED LIGHT switch, when it will cut the lights off. Thanks now I can stop trying to cut them off while I have it on the bench, LOL
Thanks for this video about night flying. I had seen Ken Heron's video about night flying earlier and then came across yours, Good job!
My video is what sparked the whole conversation. Ken took it a step further by contacting FAA representatives, which is good. My info was attained from a drone attorney, so both videos had very solid sources. Thanks for commenting! It's the best part of UA-cam - interacting with you guys. I respond to every single message, because I think if you take the time to leave a message, I should take the time to respond.
wow very nice
Great Info! I was really worried about this.. I just bought my mavic air and wasn’t sure that I could fly at night... Great video. Thanks!
Woah! Iceland is so gorgeous. Glad my TV is 4K. I subscribed to Orange83, too!
Thank you for an informative video.
Good thorough video. Thank you and great tips
Orange83 had a great video.
Great video and awesome suggested video to watch! Made me want to travel 😬.
I watched the video and Yep Iceland is now on my bucket list of places to go thanks to you and orange83.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make the videos you do.I'm buying my first Drone and your videos has answered a lot of questions..Thank You..
I watch the video. Great information sir.thanks
I love your tutorials
Loved the video.
Nice video and nice dalahäst!
Awesome! Saw it!
Nice instructional video. I been wanting to fly at night. Watched Orange 83's videos. Iceland was a fav.
So when you turn obstacle avoidance off it doesn't mean you are in Sport mode. You can fly in P-mode with all obstacle avoidance off.
thanks a lot...straight to the point
Watched the Icelandic video! Wow great recommendation.
Watched the video super cool. Learned a ton. Thanks for the tip! Keep up the great videos!!
you're absolutely right. i just passed my part 107 a couple days ago!
Thanks, orange 83 nice video also.
Question for you: when you intend to fly a single drone as both a hobbyist and under Part 107 at different times, do you need both your Part 107 FAA registration number and your hobbyist FAA registration number displayed on your drone? Or once you get your part 107 and register that drone under 107, can you fly as under Part 107 AND as a hobbyist with the single Part 107 registration number displayed on the drone?
Once you register your drone as a Part 107 drone, you can then fly as either a hobbyist or commercial. You just need to document before you launch.
