I had Car Shield for a year. I took my car to the dealership for repairs. Car Shield told the dealership to take apart my engine, and leave it out for one of their representatives to inspect it. The dealership said take it to Amcco since they had dealings with Car Shield. Took it to Amcco, and they told me for the Inspection Car Shield wanted, I had to pay out of pocket $800 to take apart the engine and wait for Car Shield to Inspect it. Amcco warn me that their other customer was still waiting for their vehicle to be Inspected for the last 2 months. I've just canceled the Car Shield $150 a month policy, and they told me no refunds. Car Shield is truly a ripoff.
I had another car warranty company which was based in the state of Illinois pull this crap on me. The car was never repaired. When you cancel the coverage they pro rate the refund, and do not refund you in full for what you pay for. They only refund you for the period that you did not use. The dealership that was doing the repair said they did not sell a policy from the company I had due to the problems they had with the company for not paying the claims. The only time I got a repair paid was through a warranty company that was from the manufacturer of the vehicle. After market car warranty companies are a rip off. Better to save what you are going to pay for an after market car warranty and use the money for future repairs.
The real problem here is family. Hear me out. I had a grandfather who taught me how to work on cars from a very young age. He taught me about what the best cars were to buy for reliability and how to buy a really cheap used car and verify that it will last me a while. After he passed away, I got married to a woman who knew nothing about cars. When I met her, she had a fiat-chrysler car that was nearly bankrupting her in repair fees. I got her out of that car and into something reliable and I take care of it for her. When we have a child, I'll teach that boy (or girl) how to work on cars and what the best cars are to buy. If it wasn't for my grandfather, I would be hopeless in this world. These people probably never had family who had the ability to help them through life. I miss my granddad so much.
I cancelled my credit card over a scam issue that almost cost me $12000 & Car Shield started calling me multiple times a day like 1-2 months & I came across information of them still taking out money after they are told to cancel!! They replaced a fuel pump but refused on 2 other repair issues on my car & yet they advertise, "we replace over 5000 different auto parts"!!
All these warranty companies are crooked. A complete waste of money. That was 2400 for two years, could have been put into a high interest rate savings account.
I had bought an extended factory warranty from a Ford dealer where I bought a new van. The first ime I tried to use it I was told the part wasn't covered because it was attached to a part that wasn't covered??? The problem was the drivers side mirror didn't operate. Contacted FMC and they forced the dealer to repace both mirrors. Found out later this dealer sold the policy to a third party and hoped nothing would break.
*Let’s do the math folks…* $100/month car shield payments for 2 years = $2400 She had a $1500 problem. Had she paid herself [instead of car shield] she would have a repair + an additional $900 in pocket.
I had Car Shield in 2020 I encountered transmission problems. I took it back to the dealership and got full coverage on repair, parts, and labor. No out of pocket expense to me. To now hear these Car Shield customers had negative experiences is saddening. Glad to see the customers got their premium returned for lack of services not provided by the company.
As a mechanic most people's damage is caused from neglect, reason why many insurance companies deny repair claims unless the customer can prove maintenance. Sounds like this was what this company was preying on
I'm 67 years old and a retired professional mechanic. I've been working on cars 50+ years, operating my own shop for 10 years prior to retiring. I'm fully aware of extended warranty programs. They make money by NOT paying claims. Car Shield and other companies that market these warranty products are a waste of money. ANY extended warranty is a waste of money.
I wish they would keep companies such as this from even being able to have a "business" because the only business they are in is the fleecing business😢
Imagine if you had paid yourself $100/month for 12 months. That’s $1200 per year to do any repair you want on your car. No deductible. No claims. No phone calls.
These warranty things always feel super-suspect. You're paying them for something that hasn't happened, meaning you have no idea if, when something does happens, what will be covered. It's in their hands to decide what they will decline and, as the saying goes, "no one stayed wealthy by spending money."
I don’t want to burst your bubble but if your health insurance is less than 150/month, there is a good chance you have a cut rate health insurance policy, similar to Carshield, and when you finally do end up using it you’ll be in for sticker shock at what isn’t covered or how little is covered.
@@dayancarrillo9450 Either you have a very high deductible or you have marketplace insurance, nothing wrong with either, just be glad you have insurance lots of people don't .

THEY pick your coverage based on the year/make/model of vehicle...They covered a lot of smaller issues, but I was upset they didn't cover my catalytic converter...😔😔
As a former Auto Repair shop owner I had several incidents with Carshield. The 1 thing that stuck out was ALL the NOT COVERED repairs. A blown Head Gasket. Very common failure so Carshield shyed away. Never....never had a failure happen to a customer that WAS covered, and I got a lot of breakdown from I 5 in Ca.
Did you notice even in the small amount of time the not covered stuff was shown,I saw clutch packs. That's the expensive part of a automatic transmission repair,am I right?
@@CarlinShowalter yes you are right. Any automatic transmission repairs are expensive. This company and others like them want to get the consumer dollars and keep them without ever covering repairs.
THIS is why I would never touch Car Shield with a 12-foot pole. Instead I have a Toyota and an emergency fund in a HYSA. The monthly premiums people pay to Car Shield, I’d put that money in a separate car sinking fund and let it grow. I would have the money to repair or replace the vehicle when needed. Peace of mind without ripoffs.
I think I would put car shield in the same category as a payday loan place, a lot of the same clientele, and a lot of the same business practices, what a blackeye for Mike Carter, big mistake to get involved with car shield and run for public office, how did he ever think that would end well?
HVACR company owner here in Canada. These insurance companies do the same thing here with offering home service plans that claim they will send a technician in your area. The issue is that they will call me up and act like we already have a contract with them. They try to funnel you through and never guarantee what they will pay. Ultimately they can end up costing me money because they don't want to pay what the job is worth. So I tell them not to bother me when they call. I assume it's the same everywhere with these 3rd party insurers.
If you just exercised a little critical thinking, you would realize third party extended warranty couldn't possibly make a profit if they covered what they claim. The market plan is to pay heavily for advertising and deny claims, otherwise they would go broke almost immediately because almost all used car will require expensive repairs eventually and this is exacerbated by most people not maintaining their cars; even if you do, there is usually no method to prove the previous owner did, which the extended warranty companies know, so they require you to prove proper maintenance from day one.
Take that $100/$150 per month and put it into a savings account. For a person paying $100 a month that's going to be twelve hundred dollars a year into savings. Money that can be used to make repairs on the car. If there are no major repairs needed in five years there will be $6 thousand dollars in the bank. Money that can be used on a down payment for a new car.
Let me get this straight, she was paying $100 a month for 2 years, and that's $2,400 total. Yet, the cost to repair her vehicle was less than that. It's best to put that $100 a month into a savings account for future car repairs. That way, there are no runarounds & headaches to deal with later on. 👍
Pay attention folks - if you must pay for a warranty, make sure it's a factory warranty. Not saying you should have a factory warranty, but aftermarket warranties have always been garbage.
$100 x 24 months = $2400 you could have had in savings. Morale of the story. Open a savings account. That's how they make their money. Multiply that by a million. The biggest scam of a capitalist system.
Idk about Car Shield but I love my Endurance Advantage preferred car warranty. They’ve paid out more than I’ve paid in and I still have a year of coverage or 50,000 miles remaining. Read the inclusions/exclusions, maintain your car, and keep good records. Too much for most people I know but I haven’t had a bad experience personally .
The fact that they refunded the premiums just means that Car Shield determined that it was cheaper than repairing the vehicle. This is standard procedure for them.
Back in the late 70s when these aftermarket policies started the 1st main one UU paid claims at 1st then making lots $ they got stengy ,you need to have maintaince done by a quality shop and documents, but tgen UU sold the company the new owners fail to cover all that UU had 2yrs after was sold again and the company covered less ..if you wamted to sue you had to do it in boca raton fla. het your lawyer there and another to sue for legal costs It was found out later the 2nd owner was a relative and the 3rd , a RICO scam
Only buy an extended warranty from a reputable dealer for a reasonable price at the maximum coverage level. Toyota/Lexus PLATINUM is legit. Ford ESP is legit. Most others are not. My local dealer doesn't even offer genuine GM warranties.
I have an extended warranty I bought through Mopar for my Dodge. Haven't had a speck of trouble getting them to pay for anything. Well, it probably helps that it I follow the maintenance schedule to the T and have all my maintenance records just in case. I would never ever by anything like that from a TV ad.

NEVER have I encountered one who actually read what the plan they signed up for covers. And they ALWAYS choose the cheapest plan.
You are soooo right!! Car Shield paid for my $6000 transmission in a Cadillac CT6. No Problem! Maybe if people kept up…. And documented regular servicing, preventative maintenance and read the contract…. They wouldn’t feel victimized. Just a thought….
just save the money dont give it to these companys their business is model is not paying. However please service your car regularly and on time as this can be the number 1 reason for major headaches in the future. Remember oil is cheap and easier to do then replacing engines or other components related to lack of service.
The only people that have problems with Car Shield are the people who buy their cheaper plans. The cheaper plans do not give the same amount of coverage as the more expensive plans that Car shield offers. All of Car Shields warranty plans are not the same.

A moral commercial should say, "Shield your car and your wallet from us"
Great reporting. Breath of fresh air to see good journalism. CarShield is a scam that has been targeting black consumers for years.
I have never read a good review of ANY car warranty company.
Thank you for reporting issues that could work against your advertisers. Most news outlets are too scared to report bussinesses paying for advertisement.

Perfect example…assume she’s paying $100/mo…2 years later she’s “down” $2,400! Even if they paid the $1,500 repair claim…she’s still down $900!! It’s sad that so many people fall for this crap…generally those who can least afford it.
Thats that B.S. I went thru this stuff with Carshield once before too.
Carshield cars go far says Ice T. He lined his pockets for sure.
A criminal hocking for criminals….hmmmmmm
Ice Tea want us to "drink the iced tea", the poison-spiked iced tea with arsenic & cyanide!!
Why are scams like car shield allowed to exist
It's easy. They just find politicians and lawyers who can be bought to protect them from prosecution and find has-been celebrities who can be bought to advertise for them.
Money making scams!
What they are doing is criminal and needs to be held accountable. Sick greedy bastards.
Thank you for saving me..I was about to buy a warranty through them...🍀
I had Car Shield for a year.
Amcco is shady just like Midas
Simple rule of life, if it advertises nonstop, particularly on OTA channels, it is never a good deal. It is crap.
OTA channels?

My first experience with an extended warranty company was horrific. Never again! Follow the money, folks!
Hahahahaha. I always rely on ice t for financial advice.

I rely on Don the con.
These 3rd party warranties are usually scams. If you want an extended warranty, go through the manufacturer only, even if it costs more.
Same with some home warranty companies!
Don't call them or give them your email they are relentless even after you threaten them with the FCC
Just record the call you tell them to stop calling and every call after that. If they don't stop sue them in small claims court.
I feel bad for people that can't see this as a scam from 100 miles away.
At least both got back their premiums.
Thousands of other didn't.......
*Let’s do the math folks…*
$100/month car shield payments for 2 years = $2400
She had a $1500 problem.
Sounds like this was what this company was preying on
All extended warranties are all rip off
I'm 67 years old and a retired professional mechanic. I've been working on cars 50+ years, operating my own shop for 10 years prior to retiring. I'm fully aware of extended warranty programs. They make money by NOT paying claims. Car Shield and other companies that market these warranty products are a waste of money. ANY extended warranty is a waste of money.
I prefer no warranty. Old car. Already broken. Thats the best feeling. Buy it. Fix it up. Drive it for 10 years. Feels good.
I wish they would keep companies such as this from even being able to have a "business" because the only business they are in is the fleecing business😢
Imagine if you had paid yourself $100/month for 12 months. That’s $1200 per year to do any repair you want on your car. No deductible. No claims. No phone calls.
Thank god I came across this video cuz I was gonna buy car shield coverage. Screw that!!!!
These warranty things always feel super-suspect.
You're paying them for something that hasn't happened, meaning you have no idea if, when something does happens, what will be covered. It's in their hands to decide what they will decline and, as the saying goes, "no one stayed wealthy by spending money."
$150 a month for car shield is more than health insurance 😱
I don’t want to burst your bubble but if your health insurance is less than 150/month, there is a good chance you have a cut rate health insurance policy, similar to Carshield, and when you finally do end up using it you’ll be in for sticker shock at what isn’t covered or how little is covered.
Actually I pay 180 a month for health insurance
@@dayancarrillo9450 Either you have a very high deductible or you have marketplace insurance, nothing wrong with either, just be glad you have insurance lots of people don't .
Health insurance is like $500 per month. If you have it cheaper, it's likely being subsidized by your employer.
We put money away every month for our car repairs. We learned that many so-called warranty is basically crap. They are scams wanting to scam people of money.
THEY pick your coverage based on the year/make/model of vehicle...They covered a lot of smaller issues, but I was upset they didn't cover my catalytic converter...😔😔
Your better off saving the money you would pay for the warranty and put it aside for repairs
This is the land of opportunity where companies can operate unethically. Have you ever had a home insurance claim?
Pay attention to who and what you vote for, follow the money
If you just exercised a little critical thinking, you would realize third party extended warranty couldn't possibly make a profit if they covered what they claim. The market plan is to pay heavily for advertising and deny claims, otherwise they would go broke almost immediately because almost all used car will require expensive repairs eventually and this is exacerbated by most people not maintaining their cars; even if you do, there is usually no method to prove the previous owner did, which the extended warranty companies know, so they require you to prove proper maintenance from day one.
Exactly! To think a warranty company would actually pay for all repairs on your run-down 15+ year old car is silly.
I had car shield and they did the same exact thing I had to pay over $2000 out of my pocket
Car shield..more like Car Scammer and damn I was about to sign up with the company too..Thank god I came across this video..
Car Shield should supply every customer with a free bus pass…
$100 x 24 months = $2400 you could have had in savings. Morale of the story. Open a savings account. That's how they make their money. Multiply that by a million. The biggest scam of a capitalist system.
Idk about Car Shield but I love my Endurance Advantage preferred car warranty. They’ve paid out more than I’ve paid in and I still have a year of coverage or 50,000 miles remaining. Read the inclusions/exclusions, maintain your car, and keep good records. Too much for most people I know but I haven’t had a bad experience personally .
Wolf guarding the chicken coup.
I had them also.... THEY REFUSED TO PAY THE REPAIR COMPANY!!!
And you fools thought this wasn't a scam 😂😂😂❤
The fact that they refunded the premiums just means that Car Shield determined that it was cheaper than repairing the vehicle. This is standard procedure for them.
i never even buy an extended warranty on a new car.
People think they trying to get something for nothing. Majority of time you get what you pay for
Back in the late 70s when these aftermarket policies started the 1st main one UU paid claims at 1st then making lots $ they got stengy ,you need to have maintaince done by a quality shop and documents, but tgen UU sold the company the new owners fail to cover all that UU had 2yrs after was sold again and the company covered less ..if you wamted to sue you had to do it in boca raton fla. het your lawyer there and another to sue for legal costs
It was found out later the 2nd owner was a relative and the 3rd , a RICO scam
Only buy an extended warranty from a reputable dealer for a reasonable price at the maximum coverage level. Toyota/Lexus PLATINUM is legit. Ford ESP is legit. Most others are not. My local dealer doesn't even offer genuine GM warranties.
If anyone believes ICE Pee saying to use car shield you are crazy
I have an extended warranty I bought through Mopar for my Dodge. Haven't had a speck of trouble getting them to pay for anything. Well, it probably helps that it I follow the maintenance schedule to the T and have all my maintenance records just in case. I would never ever by anything like that from a TV ad.
My dad had this years ago and they did the same thing
The only plan I bought was my Mopar extended life time on my wife's van. Outside of that, I'm not buying any crap like this.
thanks for posting about this scam of a warranty
Just a little FYI: A business can "buy" an A rating on the BBB website. I watched a segment years ago on 20/20...🙄🙄
This is why I maintain my car.
I had car shield 3-4 years & they replaced a fuel pump of my old 1999 Mustang but trying to replace worn wheel bearings & gaskets for the engine & transmission they said they would not cover & replace these parts!! I quit paying & for 1-2 months they were calling me "several times a day" to try to get me to pay!! I WILL NEVER AGAIN PAY INTO ANY TYPE OF CAR SHIELD LIKE POLICY!! I GOT RIPPED OFF BY CAR SHIELD, THEY ARE CROOKED TO THE TEE!! THEY SAY "WE COVER OVER 5000 AUTO PARTS??? "LIARS"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They act like for $100 per month, they shouldn’t have to prove that they actually care for their vehicle.
I do extended warranty work, begrudgingly, and they are the WORST customers.
Really 😂😂😂😂i can't help but 😂😂😂at all you fools😂😂😂😂
The only people that have problems with Car Shield are the people who buy their cheaper plans. The cheaper plans do not give the same amount of coverage as the more expensive plans that Car shield offers. All of Car Shields warranty plans are not the same.
You are stupid if you are trying to justify this. If $150 a month is “cheaper” and you are paying more, you are even more of an idiot! Clown behavior.
I bought Warranty Solutions when I bought my Ford Taurus, I must say that they honored everything covered. I went through a car dealer who also had a service center.
I had car shield years ago. I took my car to vw dealership multiple times, no help. When i called car shield the agent didn't sound surprised like its normal business smdh
These aftermarket warranty companies bank on ignorant buyers. Always read contract thoroughly before signing...
Hey as I told many people find out how much they're going to charge you a month, take that same amount of money and put it in the savings account so when something goes wrong with your car you'll have the money in the bank. And you're building interest.
Your better off to put your premium in a savings account each month and leave it until you have a breakdown
Warranty companies are often scum and look for every Avenue to pay as little as possible any chance they get. These stories mentioned here are no exception to that.
