- Jack and Patty Wilcox believe that family is a team -- and theirs is a team of winners. Their Florida household is filled with overachievers who must live up to high standards and expectations, both in school and at home. Team Wilcox believes unity is strength. But when the Wilcoxes draft Matt and Stephanie into their squad, sparks fly. The two unmotivated and audacious teens have no desire to be team players. Hi everyone! This is Rebekah Wilcox (Crump now) from the show. I’m 22 and married and both my siblings are married as well. My dad Jack recently passed away the day before my wedding unfortunately. But it’s really cool to see him in this! Even though the show was super dramatized, I’m still grateful to have it :)

I lived in NJ, Matt is the stereotypical Jersey boy. Just straight up obnoxious. I don’t think he stopped being obnoxious.

I feel like these parents stretch the definition of the show's title even more than usual. 😅 Admittedly these were two of the nicer kids too, but the parents' 'strictness' here is basically 'we ask for basic civility and reasonable family contributions'. Those kids were phenomenally lucky to be sent to this family.

Matt can't follow rules. He has no work ethic and doesn't even try to improve his attitude. He walks away and quits everything. He needs to grow up and take responsibility for his own actions.
College is not for everyone, high school people get jobs or people with disabilities do vocational training for jobs and programs too. Everyone is special.
Yeah sure university isnt for everyone but that doesn't mean they can slack off from school work.
I disagree very strongly. High school students can maximize their education by participating in apprenticeships, extracurriculars, and the International Baccalaureate program. Disabled persons are just as capable as anyone else, and I know many disabled workers, including disabled professionals like doctors and lawyers. People are special, but they shouldn't hold themselves back simply because of their status in life. They are more than their label!

@@RealCarringtonInstitute I think the real point here is that the Wilcox's didn't offer any other options other than just college... Yeah, they should bear down on the studies, and improve their grades, but there are other goals to work towards than just college.

This doesn't happen overnight, this starts when children are toddlers!! Or younger!! These kid's have never been held accountable, lazy parenting leads to entitled behavior!!
Kids like this were created and trained to be out of control by their parents. Parents should be held accountable for what their kids get into.
Hold an infant accountable for what exactly? Toddlers sure. If you hold an infant accountable for anything you are not mentally okay.

I graduated high school with a 1.9 GPA... went to college and graduated with a 3.98 GPA. I hated high school and didn't do the work. I paid for college on my own, so I did ALL the work. 😂😂 GPAs dont tell you if someone is smart or not, it just tells you if they turned in the work or not.

Actually, I think they did. The teens just wanted to give up and take the easy way out, but, the Wilcox's taught them to keep trying and to stick with it.

These parents care enough about these kids to help them get back on the right track to make positive changes in their lives. Once those kids entered into that family's home it became those parents' business to help them to think about their future and all the potential they have to succeed in life.

I do love my parents but when my brother and I were at the critical age that is called puberty; both our parents were in the throughs of middle life crises.

The host families have temporary custody/guardianship of the teens staying in their homes for that week. That’s why they’re able to do that. I knew that because I read it on another episode indicating this holds true.

The teenage boy’s dad in this show looked exactly like my grandfather. Same grey hair, same mustache, even same glasses. It’s Crazy how family members that aren’t with you anymore have doppelgängers. It’s definitely happening here, only difference is that my grandpa had curly hair.
