I think its the process of making them obey as much as anything. It breaks down them and then they're walls. Forcing them to be respectful. Bur I agree they do find good families in general

That mother was way more sincere and caring than sierras real mom. Just my opinion.

There was just something cold in both of those letters. For the first time, I think that while they mean well they don't know how to reach their kids or raise them. I can't blame the teens for being pissed. Anthony's reaction to the letter was very sad.
The strict mom in this episode is not like many of the others I have seen on this show. She is nice.

I thought that - there are ways of achieving these things. Some people can’t deal with things without being aggressive- and their kids are supposed to forgive and accept them. Wouldn’t fly with me.
I'm a mother of 3 and I have only given birth once and I would never go back in time to change my decision or be fearful of having another child. Raising children to become people is hard and unpredictable
I have to say I thought these parents would be harder on them but at the same time they are not so bad after all.
Put in clear plastic place holders for the piercings. They’re barely noticeable. If the folks object, wear the holders at night.
I would love- to clean the barn. Working with and for animals would be fulfilling to me.
These parents actually dont seem too bad.
Im fine with teaching teenagers about behaviour and stuff.. but come on, dont force them to wear what YOU want…

@@fayedavis8569 you can have piercing and be presentable. Its just style, like yours. Some people doesnt like your way of dressing but what you tell them? Its the way you want to dress. And its 21 century, its pretty common to have some piercings or tattoo. It does not hurt anybody else. They are individuals with own personality. They are not here to please you with their look. They want to look for themselves their own way. Only thing I understand is religious things, like respecting proper dressing, but thats all you should respect.
No, when you’re as disrespectful as they are, you don’t get rights until you learn your lesson and start acting correctly. Then you get told what to do and how to do everything.

I doubt it, at least to that degree. They would, however, expect their guests to have good manners, etc. Keep in mind this show was filmed in 2009-10 and times have changed since then.

The teens are moving into the family's home, so, they have to abide by the family's rules. If they say no piercings, then, no piercings.

With Sierra's attitude at the start it kinda makes me wonder how many if any episodes that were struck because the parents didnt end up being able to break the kids

I was in hospital for five weeks and my tongue piercings had to be removed as I was rushed in as an emergency. I went to get them repierced after my recovery and the girl started and then said “they’re still open, just need to put the bars back in” so piercings don’t shut that quickly.
Those mouth jewelry are dangerous. I can mess up your gums or teeth, easier to cause infections because your mouth is the most dirtiest
You don’t know much about it really…every body part is very different, and really depends how fresh piercing is ….so keep it for your self next time

There are so many parenting styles but they all work because they follow through with the consequences. Please don't let your kid control you. If you let them control you, they will despise you and be verbal about it.

The teens I see on these shows need to be out on their own at 18 if they think they are so smart. My Mom raised me with the knowledge that I would move out at 18 after I graduated from high school. I moved out when I graduated from high school and never went back to live with her. I was taught responsibility. Many of the parents enable their kids to be disrespectful.

HAHA western people. It does matter what you have on ur face and skin and body because people judge you based on that and most importantly ITS THEIR HOUSE THEIR RULES.
In my opinion, I think the parents were trying to prepare Sierra for the real world by banning her piercings, as many heavy piercings are forbidden in many settings like work etc in life.

My daughter had the most elite childhood and teen years. Then she got married who saw the money she was coming from. They both turned their lives on me never thanking her father or I for the fabulous wedding we gave them. Complete disregard.
Making someone remove piercings isn't cool if they're going to close up. They can learn something while looking different.
The father allowed her to put them back in every while to make sure they don’t close back up. It’s their family’s rule, the parents having to bend their rules for the children would defeat the purpose of the experience.

Yes finally an episode in my backyard, I live in Spokane, WA only an hour away! Although I didn't live there at the time. That is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL area of the country, but unfortunately it's gotten exponentially more expensive in the last few years as all those rich morons from California keep moving up there and trying to ruin it.
