- WoW Dragonflight might actually be good? I don't trust them, but I also can't find anything terribly wrong with the expansion so far.

it took like 2-3 months for people to really start hating shadowlands just putting it out there
time gating thigs is bad enough, not getting drops and still getting time gated.. oof.
I have a potential candidate for anti-fun blizz coming back a bit. The new catalyst (a device that let´s you convert your gear into tier set pieces) is locked for 6 weeks.
Which means everybody that does NOT raid is shit out of luck.
Then again tier sets are rewards for raiding and are just a bonus for M+ and PvP players.
Blizz does not seem to understand that the casuals who get shunned for shit gear score but raid or M+ need this sooner rather than later. By the time you can get a few pieces, all pug groups will be wanting max iLevel for pugs.
And before you tell me "why not join a guild". Most casuals can not make a set time to raid, so even if in a guild they find themselves pugging a lot since they basically can only be considered a bench warmer.
@@Keldiur Joining a guild isn't a guarantee of success anyways. Plenty of guilds advertise that they push keys... just never with you.

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject, I'm glad you've been apprehensive and careful with all of it. I'm waiting on your "final thoughts" to see if I should try WoW for the first time, but I feel no rush based on what you've said is the history of this subject.
At first SL was fine as well, as soon as Nathria was a thing it was great then everything shit the bed MASSIVELY in 9.2

You missed one day and we're unrecoverable behind on progress. That's what was bad at the start of SL.
At 9.2 nearly everything was fixed like conduit energy, freely switching covenants, no mandatory grind in Torghast

I've been suprised by dragonflght so far and have enjoyed every zone in the campaign. I haven't finished it yet but crafting so far seems fun from what I can tell. I'm excited to get to 70 though i don't do dungeons and such.

Oh Ruri, I know how that feels SO much. As an Ele shaman of years and years, the sheer bullshit of Blizz's balance was one of the main reasons why I left wow. I was tired of being rejected from pugs for being an Ele shaman.
... and Ele not sucking ass and being Bootleg Mage is a reason why I am tempted to play the game again...
plot twist, it will be complete trash at the end of the expansion.
The biggest thing for me is that classes actually feel more or less complete at the start of the expansion for the first time since... MoP? WoD didn't have borrowed power but it did have a lot of pruning which ruined some classes. I still think MoP was better (in almost every way) but I've actually been having fun playing my classes in Dragonflight which is more than can be said for the last couple expansions. And my Afflock has an actual Drain Life *build* now which is *awesome*, I've been slurping down hp bars like a fat kid in a room full of milk shakes. Gimme all that sweet, delicious diabetes! 🤤
The profession update is pretty cool too, so far I've decided to spare myself the anxiety of racing for gear and pugging dungeons and have just been leveling alts to work on my professions. I don't have the time to get the best possible gear asap and compete with people so I'd just get declined from all the groups anyway, might as well chill and enjoy what I can.
I gotta say though running a few dungeons in WoW after playing FFXIV for a while is... extremely jarring. I knew WoW's community was awful but holy christ on a cracker some of these people are just... yikes. Almost makes me want to avoid group content entirely. Nothing new there.
The ease of obtaining dragon riding has been fantastic, especially for alts. Dragon riding itself has been good for the most part but extremely unwieldy when looking for something specific and sometimes when gathering, I'd rather pick flowers in my Druid's flight form but hey awkward flight is better than no flight.
The questing system still sucks, mechanically speaking it's been the same pattern repeated ad infinitum for I don't even know how many expansions and I have a really difficult time doing them anymore but leveling is fast so that's nice. Terrible community aside that's the biggest 🍆 in my salad. World quests are slightly better thanks to dragon riding and classes being more fun but they're still world quests and I've been thoroughly sick of them since BFA. But if the core content of the game is going to require me to kill 10 of whatever mob over and over at least it's now more enjoyable to do so. And if I get bored I can change specs without worrying about legendaries or azerite bs or artifact power, how novel!
Sucks to hear the gearing hasn't changed. A big part of why I quit in the beginning of Shadowlands was me healing several groups of my raid guild- including many of their alts- through every heroic+mythic we could leading up to Castle Nathria opening and getting nearly nothing usable. I watched people pull 20-30 ilvls ahead of me on ALTS because the drops were so terrible for me. If they're still going to be wasting my time like that, then I won't be coming back. It's not worth my time to put in several times the work for nothing yet again.
Considering Activision is all about the mobile games now, them treating WoW's gearing system like a degenerate gacha is not surprising.
Not being the right stats and noth getting anything is not the same tho

I am asking myself a what if.. what if 10.1 screws over the 10.0 experience? Catch up gear, the story twists, something that really makes me want to flip the table like shadowlands did.. Is it more important for me to buy the game and get a couple months of genuine fun then quit, or is it a sign I should just not buy in the first place and save my money? The base game plus 3 months is basically $100.

They really should expand dragonriding to the whole game and give ground mounts an overhaul so they're like palamutes in MHR or rollerbeetle in GW2 (i.e. actually interesting and fun to use).
I was really surprised to learn the new secret flying mount (slyvern) can't even be used to fly in the new zone since it's classic flying. Wtf. Why is everything so segmented.

I've never seen leveling being so fun, fast and easy to do... did everything, every single quest on my main, then started to play my alts just for fun, doing professions and I realized I am levelling up doing just professions as well.. and quite fast as well... I do not feel being forced to do anything, do not feel the urge to grind anything if I don't want to, dungeons are really nice and fast to complete. So far I am enjoying Dragonflight and it looks like it will be an expansion where Ill be able to play and enjoy multiple alts without grinding myself to death.
PS: totally agree with the mythic 0 lockout feeling... after Ive completed all of them on my druid with just 4 loot drops (8 dungeons, each 3 - 4 bosses), it didnt feel good and I couldnt do more of them until today due to the weekly lockout... so this aspect of the game could be something for Blizzard to be working on. At least if the bosses would drop some rare crafting reagents, or something if I run them on lockout...
Wait until you max out and season one grind starts. I only say that because the start is always good but so has every other expansion in the past but once hot fixes and patches start rolling in be it content or balance reasons we will see dragonflight what it will truly be beyond leveling
This seems like a good base. Yet not enough for me to come back.
Dragonriding looks fun, but it would become stale as there are no factors against it like weather or terrain other than height, and my biggest worry is that they will never add in other mounts. My expectation is to have Gryphons and Wyverns with their own trees and animations before the end of Dragonflight.
Crafting seems to be in the right direction. But previous raid drop requirements for old raids need another way to acquire them or remove them all together and convert them to BoE. This way it will actually be a way to quickly gear up new players and alts and keep the system afloat.
The story and world need to be expanded upon constantly. Please do not keep on slapping on new zones. Change the ones you have, it will increase the connection to those places.
And I have other things I expect. See if Blizz does any.
After Systemlands and Bfail the bar was set so low that there was no other way but up 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

i very much think this entire expansion and the start of the next especially is gonna be filled with people looking through the magnifying glass to catch any potential problems blizz may be throwing in with good reason
we really need to look at this and continue to do so with a sceptic look for a while
DF is looking good now but we know blizz and we def need to be on the defence until we get more proof that this may be what we can expect for the long run and not just for one expansion like what happened with legion
I have a feeling for people who really want to play WoW, and can't find any other game to scratch that itch, then Dragonflight will be fine. I doubt the game will actively screw players over in a serious way, because they tried to force it for 3 expansions and watched it get worse each time. I know it took a bit for BfA or SL to become terrible, but with those expansions we saw the problems ahead of time, and just spent a honeymoon period in denial thinking things would work out, and then having them ultimately not. I haven't seen anything like that in Dragonflight, and I doubt they'd add it at this point when this expansion clearly seems to be an apology to the playerbase over the anti-player systems that have plagued the last few expansions. For people who just want to do their thing in WoW and not have to fight with a bunch of bullshit, Dragonflight should be ok.
That said, I also don't think Dragonflight will be anything special for someone who isn't already a big fan of WoW. If you look at the leveling experience, the Dragonflight questing experience, and the main draws to the open world like Dragonriding and exploring, it's really nothing special. GW2 has been offering a better version of this experience for a while now. Maybe the raid experience will be something revolutionary, but based on what I've seen/heard from the beta, they dialed things back a bit to stop racing mod devs and world first raiders, and it'll likely just be a decent WoW style raid experience; not bad, but not something that'll set itself apart. Aside from dragonriding, most of the features seem like they were dialed up to "good enough" to not do any harm, and to not actively ruin the player experience. It'll be a good time for people who already enjoy the game, but it's not going to shake up the industry or do anything to separate itself from the pack.

I don't get why they don't lock someone out only once they receive a piece of loot that week. Keep the drop rates the same, just don't lock the runners out for just doing the dungeon. Do it after they roll and get a piece of loot that week.
Lock outs after having just run the dungeon without obtaining loot is just cruel.

I find it amazing that after all of the scandals and backlash Blizzard has gotten in the past years that people are still willing to play WoW and support that company. Y'all say vote with your money but always end up going back no matter what happened.
Well, they did what any company should do in a situation like that: take out the trash, appoint new leadership, equalize pay across the board to ensure no disparity for equal work, and start listening to their players. They also grew the team by 50% to help prevent long content droughts. Longtime fans mainly want two things: their favorite game to get better and good working conditions for the developers who make it. So far that’s exactly what has been happening.
@@tronam I suppose that's good reason enough. I just doubt that such a company can really "clean up house" so to speak. Enjoy what you like though, it's your choice.
I'm so disappointed in these content creators because they know DF is just okay. My other problem is they keep pushing Dragon Riding but know the actual game is not that good. Also I thought the new race and storyline was the main point and not Dragon racing.
I am happy that they cut out all the BS but that's all they have done. They made flying mounts and professions an expansion feature ffs lol. Loads of world quest and renown to farm but the cosmetics are recolours of starter gear -.-. Oh but you need to grind the rep for recipes if you are a crafter which sucks so I just chose to gather matts and sell. I am just glad that I can do dungeons and raids with my friends without blizzard making me do chores to be able to compete. But the rest of DF is just shit.......The bar was soooo low Blizz didn't even need to add something cool. All they had to do was remove the BS and let is play.
