I don't give a shit what people do with their money, I still think it's completely stupid to buy shit like that when you also could just... play the video game you already payed for? Besides. This game isn't an RPG anymore. Nothing is of any significant meaning anymore. Imagine buying an AQ40 geared raid ready boost so you can go and do Naxx. Bro. What is this shit. For the $180 annual sub (assuming you stay monthly), a boost and a couple cosmetics, I instead picked up AW2, BG3 and about 2 dozen older titles.
      ActiBlizzard has lost their minds almost as much as *some of* their customers have 😂
      It doesn't "concern" me how others spend their money, no, but it does impact the game as a whole when spending becomes a truly viable and often more efficient ($$$/time wise) option.
      You can ignore the boosts, but the impact it has on the game has an impact on how people act and play.

    • @atmospheric17
      @atmospheric17 9 місяців тому

      If WoW is too expensive for you, or not fun enough to justify the purchase, don't buy or play it, it's that simple. If you want to buy BG3 instead of a character boost, that's your personal choice that you are free to make. Boosts have been here for a while and aren't going anywhere. It's blatantly obvious that the player base buys them frequently, so you are the minority here complaining about them.

    not a WoW player but a casual FFXIV player who just started Endwalker. What is the difference really here between this and a job level skip in XIV? Yeah the job level skips only go to the max level of the last expansion but they also give you the best tomestone gear of that level too. So for example if I buy the lvl80 job level for idk.. paladin, I'll receive the ilvl530 gear as well which is enough to clear most content except for maybe savage and ultimates (never done these so idk). Not here to say what Blizzard is doing is fine. I just want to understand if this is a new level of crap or if it's very much similar but people don't mind in XIV since it's not blizzard.

    • @neftaherrera5540
      @neftaherrera5540 9 місяців тому

      From playing both games, I would say that the ffxiv job skip is way more "catch up" , max level in ffxiv took me 2 entire weeks playing like a mad man , and 530ilv gear would take a little bit to get through grinding tombstones. But this " boost" in wow includes the next expansion + gives you max lvl , then the gear it gives its like equivalent to something like 450ilv in ffxiv. Also leveling in wow nowadays takes like maybe 5-10 hours depending on if you powerlevel or not.

    • @kaye507
      @kaye507 9 місяців тому +1

      It might be enough to do old savages and ultimates if you have a group to take you but you'll still have to get to 90, finish the 6.0 MSQ and gear up in order to do current Endwalker content. I guess the closest equivalent would be if FFXIV offered a skip that boosted you to 90 with 6.0 complete plus a set of normal quality green crafted gear or the previous tier's tomestone gear or something like that.
      It's difficult to compare because leveling to max and getting "raid ready" can be a hundreds-of-hours ordeal in FFXIV just because so much is tied to MSQ completion.

    • @hisdudeness1835
      @hisdudeness1835 9 місяців тому +1

      @@kaye507 but the gear in this WoW example seems to be barely enough for the easiest kind of raid as well. While the current job skip gives you 530 gear which nearly makes regular eden raids and the Yorha Alliance Raids obsolete difficultywise. Yeah it's not current content but the way XIV is designed it's still actively played "old" endgame content. I think you can could do a few ARR and HW Extremes solo unsynced with the job skip gear.

    • @trial_with_an_error9687
      @trial_with_an_error9687 9 місяців тому +1

      XIV boosts get raid ready for content that is no longer current. It's effectively max level and item level cap, for the previous expansion. You'll always land 10 levels below the required level for the current expac's endgame content. And unless you haven't completed the MSQ, those last 10 levels are gonna take some decent grinding to hit max level.
      For instance, in ShadowBringers, the max level you could buy a skip to was level 70, the max cap and Ilvl cap for Stormblood. Doing the first ShB dungeon in level 70 tome gear (Which is what you get for buying a skip) will at the very least, let you survive probably one big mob pull if your healer isn't absolutely cracked at their job. Trying to wall to wall pull with that gear will get you decimated pretty damn quick. By the time you hit the second dungeon and you're trying to rely on level 70 you're basically a walking punching bag.
      There's also the added bit of still needing to learn what your job is and how it's skills work.

    • @trial_with_an_error9687
      @trial_with_an_error9687 9 місяців тому +1

      @@hisdudeness1835The point of the skip isn't for normal raids or alliance raids. You're still not exactly up to snuff for current savage or current raid content in general. That's what makes the XIV skip more tolerable, that and the fact that the community largely disavows using it as well.

    I can never take the wow community seriously, their game is filled with pay to win in the worst way possible via the wow token. You can literally buy gold and then buy carries or gear with said gold, then they complain about boosts and the store and yada yada but all it took was for Chris Metson to come on stage for everyone to forget how horribly they are being treated. I completely agreed with your opinion on the downfall of Bungie with Destiny but if you play Wow after all of this then you and every other wow player deserve it.

    • @Jaquan018
      @Jaquan018 9 місяців тому

      The game was always Pay2Win. Since forever WoW allowed those with enough money to get ahead because the game had a trading system. Bots, Gold sellers, Blizzard it doesn't matter who gets the money in the end - if you pay you get ahead. Same rings true for other MMOs. While XIV never sells you gold directly the gold sellers are still there. And with how the crafting system is designed you can get a full set of Raid Ready gear without an issue (as crafters get the ability to make an equivalent of previous tier best gear in between patches). Hell they also sell story progression and level boosts.

Stop giving this company money or they'll keep pulling shit like this. Affecting their bottom line is the only way to see change in a company that only cares about their bottom line.

      Just because it sells doesn't mean it's good for the game or the experience. Pay to progress sells just as much as pay to win and that rakes in stupid amounts of money for the mobile game industry. Paying for WoW tokens to buy carries is a huge amount of income for Blizzard too. If you really want WoW to move fully towards the mobile P2W model, sure go ahead and make excuses for the practice. It was marketed by both someone who doesn't understand the game and someone who understand the game and has a bottom line to meet. That said; like you said, as a returning player with thousands of hours of end game raiding behind me; I'll likely do this for my alts... AFTER I get to 70 with at least one toon. I'm casual so not a big deal, but I understand how this is a huge slap in the face while also being a tweak in the eyes.
    Compare this to like Moon Rise or some of the mobile games, or even Hero Wars. It's a pretty easy pill to swallow to get access to content which could take weeks or months to otherwise get into.
    It is NO substitute for LEARNING the new trees through blood sweat and wipes in PUG dungeons.
    And yes, I just moved a WOTLK/CAT end game druid from the remapped up to 70 only in dungeons except for the needed quests to get dragonflight so I wouldn't be waltzing around on the ground and behind all the time on one specific dungeon... grrr. *WHY DID THEY DAKE OUR FLIGHT FORM AWAY*

The in-game catch-up makes the gear worthless. AND is crap you can already buy via crafters and WoWTokens.,...... Boosts in themselves is a war we lost YEARS ago............i think the Renown would be the biggest value of this 'raid ready boost' that makes it unique compared to other pre-order boosts(once the next expansion is available for pre-order the boost has always been updated to current patch content to dive right into the newest stuff.)

    That ship has long sailed. In Shadowlands you could drop $400~600 on WoW tokens, go to the auction house and get a heroic level BoE in almost every slot, which is a lot better than what that boost gives you. Retail WoW is pay to win and it has been for a while.
    That said I'm not sure that monetizing catch up gear (because that's essentially what it's selling) is as much of a win as Blizzard's bean counters might think because it fast forwards returning players to the end during a content draught that will last a year. The last thing they should do is kill the content they already have.

      Congratulations you realized the ultimate truth in MMOs that allow for players selling their wares to other players - if you have gold you can advance faster. Been true in WoW since forever, been true in XIV where a skilled crafter can sell you raid ready set of gear, is true effectively everywhere. And whether the token's there or not you'll always win through your wallet since none of those games is free from bots and Gold sellers that manage them. Shit's not unique to WoW. I'm going to repost the comment I leaved on the Asmon video
    I played wow last month for the first time since MoP, I didn't even pay for the expansion just the membership to mess around and do stuff, I looked up a guide for fast leveling and ended up 60 in a couple of days with a Undead Holy Priest and some days later a Tauren Windwalker monk. I really enjoy wow's group combat system, it's the best it can offer. While I had to nerd up and look up for guides, macros, addons and setup the UI correctly, when that was done I had a blast doing dungeons as both a Healer and DPS, trying to optimize my actions, sometimes save the wipe with some good healing timings.
    After that I keep mess around trying to collect toys and do professions for money making but after playing that month I said that's enough. My problem with wow is that aside the last expansion there is no real progression to the account aside cosmetics or achivements, and after the new expansion comes out it all gets deleted and it's time to start all over again. I'm aware it was always like this but with all these boosts and shit and also that expansions are going to come more frequently, wow feels like FOMO money scam "Try these awesome raids before you start to one shot them solo next month!". It's like people who play this game for years without stop have a stockholme syndrome with Blizzard eating al the shit they throw at them.
    I'm saying this from the perspective of a OSRS fan, where sure it's the most time sink shit you could imagine but I know if I comeback to my account by only paying for subscription, no bs microtransactions and boosts, my skills and equipment will still be a relevant floor to do the more recent quests, raids, events, etc, with the difference in wow that my time is completely wasted. You can argue that wow has other content that is not progress focus like Roleplay and I get it, it looks interesting but my main argument holds still for the Main game and I don't feel my money is well spent on a wow subscription, if I wanted to roleplay I would play DnD, VRChat or even GTA, if I really wanted to play wow I will just stick to pirate servers, or who knows, maybe the next expansion will invalidate my points.

    Bruh if you clear some +5s you get that IL. If you get the conquest gear without upgrades youre past that by like 30 ILs. Honestly I don't even understand how these things are marketable since the SL revamp on lvling. You can lvl up a character in a day, heirlooms are not even a thing there are no pre-requisites. Even if you're rich and couldn't care less about money you're buying about 6 hours of PvE progression, maybe 8, for $60. I even look at blizz in good eyes for this because they clearly didn't make the best marketing decisions to enforce the purchase of boosts ergo keep the absolutely insufferable lvling pace BFA had. Like if I had to go through that shit show I'd seriously consider buying boosts, but it couldn't be more of a breeze now honestly.

    You should really stop acting like WoW's raids are hard.
    Take away add ons and most players in the game would fail content they had on farm for months. People just have DBM and other add ons to do all the work and thinking for them. So yeah, the boost is raid ready. You get to 70, download the mods, have your hand held by the add ons all the way through the content that's supposed to be hard but ends up being trivialized by the add ons.
    Also, I'm an extremely casual player. I spend more time playing single player games these days than MMOs. The funny thing about this boost is that it would place me further along in the game than my highest geared character. But do note that I do not raid, I do not enjoy it. I've done it in past expansions and learned that it's not for me. I rarely do dungeons in WoW because of how toxic the community tends to be. I don't PvP either, for that same reason.

      You should try xiv, not because it's xiv but to see another game , to change things a little
      Don't rush just play at your rythme ,the 70 first level are free and you have shit tons of content to try

      I feel you. Iv played since vanilla about a month after launch and I stopped playing about a year ago. This pay to win crap ensures I don't look back.

      So, first off, I don't like that FF14 has mtx at all - that said the way they implement 90-95% of it is much better than how WoW does it. For comparison - all of WoW's MTX store items are exclusive to the store and can't be gained in game. In FF14, most of the store items are obtainable in game if you do the event quests during the time they are active. Once the event is over, they move to the shop a year later. Is it perfect? no, but at least you have a chance of not having to pay extra for those items. Secondly, there's no Token, so the in-game economy isn't affected by MTX to a large scale. As for the boosts, they suck and I don't agree with them in either game, but for FF14, if you buy a story skip, you are either missing the point of FF14 entirely or you're making a new character for whatever reason (most players don't as there is no need to) and want to skip content you already did. The reason this particular boost is so controversial is that it is advertising as being more than just a skip - it's advertising itself as raid ready with reputation gain included - FF14 boosts are much cheaper and the gear provided is not even Expert (heroic) level. Blizzard is positioning itself to start directly selling power to players - FF14 is only selling convenience that most players advise not using anyway. TLDR: both suck and in a perfect world both wouldn't exist but WoW has it much worse cause blizzard is greedy. @@tbone8644
