Putting in all of that hard work, and just before the best part of the adventure begins, she drives into the sunrise. IS SHE CRAZY? Actually, I think it is such a testament to your family that even though she didn't want to sail away, she came and did all of that work so that the people she loves can live their dauntless dreams. Loved that very much.
I am not ashamed to admit that I am 57 and have 2 daughters, one of which is going travelling soon. This video actually brought tears to my eye. You are such a tight family like mine, saying goodbye is hard. On a cheary note, you have done a wonderful job on the 50’ I do hope you keep her, getting a $1.2M cat for a lot less, I know the blood sweat and tears you have invested is incalculable but she’s a world class blue water sailing boat. These opportunities don’t happen very often.
Goodbyes are always a pain especially when you have a close family but that boat when you pushed her out looked absolutely beautiful. It’s got to be your new home, bring on next week. What an achievement.
Had a good cry with you. Best wishes to Maddie on her journey. As a parent it’s so hard to let them fly. You have raised two beautiful young women who clearly love you and have great foundations. Much love!
I'm 60 and my kids never ring or visit unless they want money, watching your beautiful daughter say goodbye so she could live her dreams had tears in my eyes, good luck with your journey
Damn the ending made me cry. I lost my dad at 11 years old in 1994 and my mom in 2020. Family is all you got. Just found yall channel and have benge watched all the old videos. Love all the hard work. Can't wait till splash video. So close
Wow! 1. Maddie was able to identify that her path was different and had the strength and drive to pursue that! 2. Kim and Ty had the strength to support her independence even though they would miss her terribly. 3. Maddie stayed to support her family though all of the grueling work! 4. You can see the depth of this family's love coming through the camera lens. and...who the heck is cutting onions???
She is on her way to making memories happen and live her dreams in her own adventures, to keep the sailing dauntless adventures going. One day matty will return for awhile. Sail on matty sail on ❤❤❤ ❤❤ Sailing dauntless ❤❤❤
It's hard to let the little ones go. You have to trust you've raised them well. My kids are both on college now, with my Daughter a 9 hour drive away. I thought leaving her there for the first time was the hardest thing I'd ever done. I was wrong. The hardest thing was watching her drive away to make that same drive all on her own for the first time. My Son is only 2 hours away, and seems like he will come back to live with us when he graduates and looks for a job. I LOVE seeing the hulls fully intact! She's looking like she's ready to drop into the water and maneuver under her own power!
The only part of the channel I do not understand is why this channel does not have 1/2 million subscribers. It is the best build restore sailboat series.
What a great video , the last part tugged at my heart but it was so wonderful seeing the love and bond your family has with each other. Having 6 daughters between my wife and I this brought back the times of both pain and joy when we hugged and watched each of our daughters head off to college and when I hugged them just before they left on thier honeymoon to start thier lives with our new sons. Even though raising girls was a challenge with the drama of girl life ,boy friends and butting heads with a very protective dad I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. I think the worse day in my life that concerned my daughter's was when the last one our baby headed off to college and the day after she'd left to head off to college I came home and as I entered the house I did my customary hey I'm home yell as I came through the door and was met with complete silence. I then remembered she was gone and I sat on my deck and cried for a good hour until the wife got home and joined me. Thankyou for reminding me about this special time in my life ,over the years I'd forgot how special that time in my life was. When I get thru writing this I'm going to call each one of my girls and tell them how much I love them and how proud I am of them . Thankyou!!!!!
What a hard thing to do letting your child go into the world it's always better when you have them around, but when its time they want to fly on their own and you want them too, but it is still hard to let go lots of prays for family. It brought tears to my eyes I was never blessed with children, but I can tell you I would have been a baling mess. You both are fantastic parents, and your kids are great.
Hope Maddie finds happiness and many blessings in her next adventures. All the hard work is definitely starting to pay of can't wait to see it being splashed
GAH!!! Im all teary! 😭 I know one day in the next 18 months I will be hugging my son off to college. We want our kids to spread their wings..NEXT DOOR. HAHA nah just kidding but I know it was hard for all of you. Hugs to best wishes to Maddie. Fly high young lady!
You ALL represent what family is about, through thick or thin. Not sure where you are headed in Florida, but Jacksonville is boat city with many yards that are a lot less expensive than as you head South. I was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale where all the North brought their yachts to be serviced; not so much anymore as it is cost crazy. Wherever you choose to tie up, Florida can give you much-needed sunshine. By the way, the project is beautiful and an amazing accomplishment. Cheers, Doc
I had the same brought a lump to my throat as I haven’t seen my daughter , 4 grandkids and son in law for three years due to Covid restrictions and catching Covid . They are a seven hour flight away. Your a strong knitted family and your team work is the greatest I am sure she’ll be back once you splash 💦😍
The epic hugs near the end, almost no words, but these! To hold tightly so much so that those beats synchronize as only love can do, totally reafirmed for me that you guys rock! Adore you devotion to family and all you do, so very epic!!! Massive love and total respect! Thank you so much for your uplifting channel!
Just binge watched this whole thing from episode 1 over the last few days, love the way you all interact as friends first, that is valuable in a family, had dust in my eyes in the last few minutes of this episode! Have you had the bulkheads checked in the Lagoon? Sure Colin spoke of his issues and the problems Lagoon has been having with the 450.
As a Dad who has to let go and send my kids on their way, 2 girls, 1 son, there were seals around my eyes that were leaking at the end. Great day to view this and reflect what the good Lord has given me. Felt like -30C this morning shovelling snow, pull that “toque” (Canadian term for your beanie” around those ears. Enjoy your videos very much every Sunday.
Personally knowing y'all and how close you are, I know it wasn't easy to say goodbye to Madi! My momma heart hurt for you, but I know y'all are so happy to see her spread her wings and live her life dauntless! All my best Madi, I have no doubt you'll make a huge mark in life! 💞 I'm excited to watch the final stages of the repairs on the 50, then see y'all splash and tag along on your dreams to sail the world. Cheers my friends, 🍷 ⛵🌎⛵
I thank you for sharing even the most tender moments. My daughter will head out on her own again, soon. Sitting in the front seat of my semi at a truck stop, difficult to maintain composure, thanks for that. 😊
You’d never believe the shape of this boat from day one a sunken tramp to now a queen nearly crowned. Incredible videos of a strong family effort putting her back together….geez, I can’t get my family to mow the lawn! Lol. Cheers from White Rock BC, Canada 🇨🇦
Ty has superhuman abilities. Just saying... I feel bad when he gets picked on. Got your back Ty. Maddie you're going to rock any path you take. You have what it takes. !00% Thank you for the amazing videos of your experience. I enjoy every moment from WI #frozentundra
Wow, the thing looks awesome rolling out of the shed - what a difference from her tattered and battered first appearance on this channel. Bravo to the entire team! Bittersweet to see Madi drive away in her "little spool of thread" car (it seemed so little driving out into the big world). She can leave knowing how important her contribution was to the whole project and coming back to the family on the boat when the project is done will be a nice vacation destination for her!! Everything happens for a reason, so her foray out into the world is yet another step in her journey to a successful adulthood! So Brave!
Recently subscribed, absolutley great vdeos! As a past Leopard owner, a tip, fit a pnuematic inner tube from a yardcart/wheelbarrow/small farm tractor wheel, between the saildrive twin rubber bellows, and the outer hull skin, inflate to a few pounds, this gives you added "insurance" in case the bellows rubbers at top of saildrive fail, and, also, if the bottom rubber sheet, that "seals" the outer hull hole around saildrive leg, falls off ( they do that!)
I know I've made silly comments because I'm binge watching not in time. So. I voted after the fact new engines and gen-Set. I'm so glad. You won't regret on resale and warranty. Especially the selling of the old Yanmars and gen- set for your over ,unders.
It was hard enough saying goodbye to both my girls, thanks for reminding me, a good cry never hurts anyone. I wish you well Mattie, make your parents proud girl, because i know you will. Don't forget to call and write them often.
All I have to say is that you guys are one awesome family!! Brings tears to your eyes when your daughter was leaving. That had to be rough. Cheers from Austin, TX
What a hugfest farewell. The look in your Mom's eyes as the hug ended brought tears to my eyes. Too bad Madi couldn't stay a little longer and see splash day.
You folks are just the best, such a tight unit (we love the worts & all content!). So sad but happy that your daughter is fulfilling her dream & we hope it works for her. Your white board project game is golden! Thank you so much for everything you bring us! All the best from Noosa, Queensland, Australia ⛵❤✌💪
It is so exciting to see the progress you have made and see the engines being installed. Yes, my tear ducts do still function and wish Maddie all the best in her adventures in Texas. Your whole family is amazing in how they came together once again and did things that I know would have been impossible for myself to do. (I am too big in the waist. ) To think that your channel came my way while researching fiberglass techniques on a small tear drop I plan to build and then see what you all and many other have done to repair their boats. Amazing Chanel, Amazing Family. Best wishes to you all.....Thanks a million for all the smiles and knowledge you have infused into my old brain.
All the best to Maddie I know exactly the feeling when 1 but 2 girls leave the nest to make their own lives and live their dreams, isn’t it wonderful when they do and still share it with you, we are so lucky 💓💓
You guys are amazing and have such an amazing family and have shared such special moments. Can’t wait to see this Leopard 50 floating again! You guys rock and should be very proud!!
Love all the videos because you alway exemplify true family togetherness. I have no idea what you’re doing most of the time, but you guys are still fun to watch.
My thoughts on new engines in a boat that has been sunk is that your engines are the number 1 safety on a sailboat. You depend on them in rough seas and they alway always need to start.. if anyone plans to reuse a salt water flooded engine it should be rebuilt right back to brand new.. I think a generator should be thought of in the same way... the only thing I would consider keeping from a flood boat would be some of the wiring but only that which showed no corrosion or damage.. By the way this boat is going to be amazing when its finished the hull colors are great together and I can't wait to see what you all do with the rest of the boat.. Oh and you have to keep this one..
Although I'm sad that part of the Dauntless crew had to leave, I'm sooo super-D-duper impressed with the volume & quality of work performed so far. Did I mention at the speed of you success? Wow- awe inspiring. To say the least. I'm at a loss for words. Pretty rare for me.
What can you say about the Dauntless family and the refit of their second cat other than SMART. This family is hard working, forward thinking and intuitive . They don’t see problems, they find solutions. Your next mission should you choose to except it: Middle East Peace ☮️ Your a pleasure to watch.
You guys are my new favorite youtubers. I am only a patron to one other cruising family. I have sent money to 2 other youtubers. But omg I love you guys, awesome family, so smart and funny. So yes I decided to become a patron. It's a privilege. I currently live in alaska, from Massachusetts. I will be in boston this summer. If you guys are in the Area let me know. I should be able to get you a morning ball at my marina. Orient heights yacht club.
WOW, I used to tell my wife "the reason we bought a 50 is because the mechanical spaces are so big and that makes it easy to work on stuff". ..... Maybe I won't say that so much anymore!
Brought back every memory of every goodbye with my Dad right down to the final one. Had me crying like a baby.

This father can only agree.
Always heart-wrenching when they go! But you can't teach a bird to fly, and then clip its wings!
So true! No matter how old you are they are your children 🥰😭

Stay healthy.
Funny, one of the girls from Zamora also left last year the family boat heading for Austin Texas too !
Uhhh, I couldn,t find what sunk that boat in the first place!! You guys should do a history vid!!
You're just like SV Seeker. He does everything right because he does it twice. Congratulations on your progress and sad to see your daughter leave.
Great episode! Awesome progress! Keep rolling along!! 👍👍💪💪🛠🛠👊👊⛵⛵
8:00 that's some WEIGHT in that truck!
Tesla battery pack for this boat?
Beautiful family! Brought me to tears 🥲
Kim gets engines in her boat!!!! YAY!!!!
Did’ t you know when your board you poke yourself in the eye 😉😝
new engines come with a warranty. warranties on the engines make the boat a lot more attractive to a buyer. im still hoping that you keep dauntless.
Goodbye Madi 👋
Congrats on superb progress. Can’t believe it’s nearly ready so quickly to splash. Will kinda of miss the boatyard, but not the $ your paying.
That was sad. ❤️
as paul would say, "do it twice, do it nice :
I am so happy with all the progress you continue to make Armstrong Fam!
WOW, I used to tell my wife "the reason we bought a 50 is because the mechanical spaces are so big and that makes it easy to work on stuff". ..... Maybe I won't say that so much anymore!
HI guys from Victoria Australia 💖💖💖💖💖 catch up later Maddie 💖💖💖💖
Wow , what progress , looking forward for the splash. Next week ? 😃🍻🥂
On situations like the engine install I always remember: If it is worth doing, it is worth doing it twice.
😢fear well
Fair winds Madi
Ummm, tear jerker at the end.
