Thanks for sharing your experience using the CASTILE soap. I've been using only CASTILE soap for over three years now on face, body, hair and I also have it at every sink for hand washing. I've always clarified my rinse with ACV and water in a spray bottle that's kept in the shower. I must tell everyone that the Almond and the Citrus are great for anytime of the day, but for me, I USED THE LAVENDAR one morning and I remained crawled up in my recliner ALL DAY, and I got absolutely nothing done that day. It's so relaxing🛏, so I recommend the LAVENDER to be used at night if you may have sleep issues and need some help relaxing. I'm The PEPPERMINT is very invigorating and is great for hair washing but be careful around the eyes, and that's for all of the fragrances. It's the one I keep at my kitchen sink for handwashing and knocks out all the cooking scents on my hands. Again, thanks for sharing and for letting the world see your beautiful hair.
I have been using Dr.Bronner's soap for the past one and a half months but it left my hair clumped and unmanageable but your video was like a blessing. After watching it, I bought the ACV and rinsed my hair like you said and the result was amazingly soft hair without any tangles. Thank you so much for doing this video.
I’ve got the Cove, unscented Castile soap and it comes with instructions on how to use it for different things. For shampoo it says to mix 2 tbsp of the soap with 1 cup distilled water and follow it with an acidic rinse such as 1 part lemon or apple cider vinegar to 8 parts water for best results.
Your video is the only video I could find that got straight to the point or really even mentioned about the need to possibly rinse with vinegar. A lot of other videos came off as more marketing the soap or just about a personal opinion and not about an actual advice video and what to do. They didn't tell you what to do with it and what to expect. That's ok but I really needed to know details like what went wrong and not just what went right. So thank you. I think people worry with the public and feel they have to always stay positive but if we don't mention what went wrong then we can't learn from it and help others not make the same mistakes or avoid the same negative experiences whatever they may be. I may have to rinse with vinegar and use more than just the soap. I just got Dr. Bronner's Lavender Castile Soap and some hair oil yesterday but thank goodness I already have some apple cider vinegar in my home so I'll put it in a spray bottle or something to rinse with it afterwards. Again thank you for sharing your experiences. Oh and your hair does look very healthy and normal as if you don't use something different from commercial products. I truly mean this compliment sincerely.
I have seen or read dozens of testimonials about Dr. Bronner and ACV with people saying "it's awful for a bit but just stick with it." I stuck with it for about 8 weeks and my hair was still disgusting. The top half of my hair was packed with grease and the bottom half was as crunchy as straw. (Yes, I did it correctly and yes I played around with the ratios so it wasn't too harsh.) I'm shocked that no one seems to be writing or videoing about a bad experience with this regimen so I'm putting this story here. That way, people who maybe aren't having a good experience won't feel so alone and will know that "sticking with it" might not be the answer for everyone. I ended up switching to a sulfate-free/paraben-free drug store shampoo and conditioner and my hair is 1000x better.
Yes I had the same experience. It was pretty difficult. Hard to comb or brush when wet. I did use white vinegar and that did help it. I diluted the soap too because full strength made it oily. The vinegar cut the oil but not completely. So I went back to regular shampoo but I dilute it a lot and it lasts longer and works well. I love Castile liquid soap. I feel I just didn’t find the right combination so that it would work well.
I recommend washing the scalp with just Castile soap and rinsing only the ends of the hair with apple cider vinegar. ACV activates as a moisturizer so you don’t want to put it directly onto your scalp just through the ends of your hair where you need moisture, sort of like a hair conditioner.
Apple cider vinegar burns the hair follicles and dries out the hair. See Fr. Eric Berg video son hair. It happened to me. Castille soap and marseille soap is good alone for the hair. It will not smell any wax any more even if you leave it unwashed one time for some time.
@user-bp4qv4bz1d, I'm always so curious to know about the type of water everyone has, but it often seems to go unmentioned. If you have soft water that doesn't get all the strange stuff hard water contains, you're likely to have a much easier time with a transition like this. Because of the particles in hard water - it can have a reaction with these basic (rather than acidic, which is why the ACV rinse makes your hair feel so much better usually) kinds of soap. I have not tried diluting some Castile soap to try as a much cheaper alternative to shampoo, but I have hard water so it may go as badly as you're describing. There is a lot of hair speculation and science behind all these theories and ideas on what should and shouldn't be used for cleaning your hair. My current thoughts about using Castile soap as shampoo are: Always dilute. Yes, the shower can help with that, but it's highly concentrated stuff otherwise (and absolutely NASTY to get in your eyes without any form of dilution, fair warning). Maybe invest in a water filter either for your shower if you have hard water. Try using the new method every other time with a typical shampoo to see if there are many differences between the washes. All in all, do what helps you live life well. If you hate the thought of how much plastic is being thrown away every year, much less every day, then trying a solution like this is great because it has so many other ways to be used! Just use it as hand soap for half a year, diluting it as necessary. Hope this helps, but no worries if you find that it doesn't. Thanks for sharing your experience!
In my experience I tried it and whenever I didn't use acv my hair was pretty bad (looked pretty bad for like 1 1/2 months unless I washed it every 2nd day) oily and clumpy and it would still look dirty but with acv it helped but wasn't enough so what I did is instead of doing more parts water to vinegar ratio I just did half vinegar half water, sometimes 3 parts vinegar to 1 part water helped me a ton especially when it was super greasy at the roots- I didn't put it straight on the ends. The acv makes it feel like legit conditioner it makes your hair feel super smooth, I put it on the parts most oily like my crown and mid back of my head but I use about your entire "ketchup" bottle though and I've also tried white distilled vinegar and it works as well for me. However I think it depends on how much hair you have and thickness... Also brushing it before I went in the shower and not letting it dry while tucked in a ponytail or braid helped me out a lot.
Due to the process of liquifying soap, the Baby bar soap is less alkaline and lathers better in the hands b4 applying to hair….I find the lather of the bar soap better …and takes less soap. If people are using the liquid heavy enough to create a regular lather, that’s way too much and will not rinse out well
you're not really supposed to wash your hair every day, that build up in your hair is the strong castile soap reacting with hard water deposits if you dilute the soap more and wash your hair once or twice a week you won't need the vinegar
I only washed my hair once or twice a week and used the vinegar to rinse and it was still really difficult to comb or brush and was oily. I could not figure out how to keep it from making my hair oily (and I have dry hair). I diluted it quite a bit and that helped some. I use the soap for a body wash and for hand washing too.
@@Elizabeth-tb5oh Hmmm. . .this could be for a number of reasons. You could be transitioning or it could also be your water's ph. If you don't already have a shower filter please get one! It will help so much! Also, make sure to use a clarifying shampoo with sulfates before using the Dr. Bronners. If you're using a vinegar rinse you may need to experiment with the ph that is best for your hair and scalp. I dilute my acv until I get a PH of 4 so I use 2 oz. Of organic ACV to 14 oz. Of filtered water. Also, the Dr. Bronners website has some trouble shooting tips for using their soap as shampoo. If you've got more questions let me know. 🥰
She might still need the vinigar, what I think it's doing for her is dropping that scalp ph back down after the castile soap raised it. But I'm just theorizing. But yeah totally agree washing everyday is not good and hard water and castile soap equals build up.
I love apple cider vinegar rinses. What I usually do is dilute the apple cider vinegar because I only use vinegar with the "mother" in the bottle so it's necessary I add water. Happy hair journey's to all💕
@@mongamonga1477 honestly I've been using clarifying clay mixes as a cleanser. I mix shikakai, brahmi, and aztec secert with a couple of drops of tea tree and peppermint oil I add (extra virgin olive oil and organic coconut oil my hair tense to be on the dryer side) but powders are naturally a little more drying I think it's important to add as little or as much oil as you need depending on your hair type. I mix it with organic apple cider vinegar and water. It is a little messy but it's kind of like a home made shampoo/cleaner. If I'm pressed for time I use Trader Joe's tea tree shampoo it's relatively inexpensive and it smells great. As try the apple cider vinegar rinse mix acv with half water and half acv get a bottle with a nostle in which you can penetrate the scalp and massage it in your hair for a few minutes before rinsing. If you are having problems with your scalp the dermotologist may be able to prescribe medication. A few years ago I went to the demo because I had issues the dandruff and hair was coming out they prescribed a topical(I don't remember the name of it) I took it for 1 or 2 months and it went away...in reflection i was under a lot of stress and I honestly think that was the root cause during that time... But I mainly use the powder mix or trader Joes shampoo now. I hope this helps Happy hair journey💕
It also helps to work up a lather in your palms b4 shampoo applying to wet hair. Actually I have used the Baby bar by making the lather ( works best with distilled water) in my palms…..that has probably been my best result with Bronners for makes a nice lather . I am using that more…it also seems to rinse out easier
Im sorry you had trouble my wife and I both use this and we've been lucky to have No Problems we just use it and go about our normal hair grooming routines.
Caution with the lavender and other scents …I had eye allergies with the lavender Maybe the almond is the most mild scent.I also had some difficulty with using the Bronners for shampooing. I had the best results with diluting it a bit and giving my hair a pre rinse of distilled water b4 applying the soap…..and an end rinse with ACV ( about 2 tbsp to a quart of lukewarm water bottles and following that with a quick cool water rinse. I love Bronner Baby and Bronners Baby Sugar soap…for everything else. A stumbled onto warming up just a bit of the Baby Magic Balm in my palms…just rubbing it into my palms…and then giving my hair a little run through …it’s important to warm it up in your hands and go scant….it adds a nice shine and tames any fly aways
This is day 2 of me trying Castile Soap and I ended up in tears. I couldn't even run my hand through my hair because it would pull and stick and hurt so bad. I broke down and rewashed my hair with my old shampoo hoping it would smooth out. I'm glad I found your video. It is encouraging. I will try again tomorrow with diluted castile soap with acv rinse. I am allergic to 95% of soaps so I need to find something I can use regularly without breaking out after every shower.
Update. It's been 1 month since I've been using old castile and it's working so far. I found its best to dilute the soap and rinse it quickly. Do not let it sit in your hair. I then rinse my hair with acv very quickly after. The acv is also diluted as that saves me money and cuts down on how strong the smell is. So far, so good. It doesn't hurt after it's dry. About a day after the wash is when it feels best
Update: Its been 4 months. The soap still sucks honestly. If I don't dilute the soap and rinse it out immediately, it stays in my hair and makes it look all greasy for a few days. The ACV rinse does help but not as well as I wish it did.
Thank you! For me it wasn't that my hair was getting out, but that it felt greasy. I also wasn't rinsing it with anything just rinsing it out of my hair after wash with water and I also didn't dilute it. Just used barely a cap full... I ended up buying shampoo, but don't want to give up on castile soap. Thanks for this video. 😊
Your hair is very pretty! I have very thin, fine, post menopausal hair and am looking to get away from sulfites which points me toward castile soap. I have recently begun reverse shampooing, using conditioner first followed by shampoo and I also made my own dry shampoo to use in between washing days. It contains cocoa powder and smells yummy! I know apple cider vinegar is great for hair and I also use it some to cut any build up from shampoos out of my hair. Thank you for the video!! Great ideas!
How many drop to what amount of shampoo per use? I have very short hair and its very thin due to hair loss from allergic reaction to regular shampoos/conditioners.
Do you have directions on how to do this? I read in a few places of people mixing it with coconut oil for shampoo use. I have not been successful at this though. Do you still rinse with an acidic rinse like vinegar?
I use the bars and stay away from the liquid soaps. I’m having lots of success. I’ve even tried Kirk’s bar which I think I like even better than bronner’s. I do a splash of acv/ 16oz of cold water rinse. My water at home is hard. I’ve had zero issues. My hair is a little longer than yours. I don’t wash everyday. Once to twice a week is good. If my ends get dry, I use a little argon oil on them. Sometimes if I get sweaty, I’ll just rinse my hair out with water.
@@zz-.- i travel for a living. Liquid is messy. When going into high altitudes, liquids can seep out of the container. I also like bars because I’m cutting down on plastic usage. Just a preference.
Thank you so much for explaining the transition, my hair was dry and breaking off insanely I was seeing clumps of hair everywhere now using acv it’s way better.
I'm looking to use Dr. Bronner's Castile liquid soap in a DIY shampoo concoction. I bought all the necessary ingredients, then upon further research learned that it's really not good to use a Castile soap shampoo, which as a pH of 9+ and then use an ACV rinse with a pH about 3. I've read that this drastic change in pH can have negative effects on your hair in the long run. Even using a high pH shampoo without the subsequent ACV rinse is bad. So my question for you is do you know of any shampoo recipes using your soap that have a pH of at least around 8 or lower so we're not damaging our hair?
cartergirl3of3, thanks for the comment. I don't know of any shampoo recipes that include Dr. Bronner's Castile soap that have a pH level of 8 or lower. I did find a few pH balanced shampoo recipes online at the following sites: helloglow.co/hair-ph-balanced-shampoo/ www.thankyourbody.com/ph-balanced-shampoo-recipe/ I have not tried either of these recipes, so I cannot speak to how well they work, but they may be a little more along the lines of what you are looking for. The good news is if you don't end up using the Dr. Bronner's or ACV to wash your hair, you can still use both of them for a number of other things : ) I hope you find something that works for you! Thanks for watching.
Joseph, thanks for that information! I don't color my hair so I guess I never considered how using Castile soap for shampoo would react to color treated hair. Thanks for your comment : )
Joseph that's exactly what I was wondering. Do you know where to find out more? I colour my hair but have a troublesome scalp so would like to give it a go!
Does your hair get greasy after one day? Just curious, I can go on average 5 days without washing my hair using my current shampoo. Really interested in switching but I don’t want to have to wash my hair everyday! Thanks!
@Chris Williams no you shouldn't, if you need to wash your hair every day because it's too oily you need a medicated shampoo. The hair has oils that protect your hair and washing it every day strips it of nutrients and makes it brittle and dry
I made a batch last night! 1:1/2 ratio water: Castile soap. I steeped the water in green tea. Added some honey and olive oil. Fingers crossed. Someone recommended using the ACV solution if using baking soda paste.
Appreciate your video, but all that is perfectly explained in the Dr.Bronner’s web page how to make the transition and that is highly recommendable to use the vinegar.
This won’t work for everyone because coconut oil in the castile oil might effect it depending on your hair type / genetics. Coconut oil has a history of having an opposite moisture effect. Although I have to say I tried this with the ACV and my hair is extremely greasy and dry.. but also seemingly thicker if that makes sense? I’m going to try it tomorrow with just the castile soap maybe it will be better. I do think other shampoo methods are healthier than the traditional oil stripping shampoos though. Also if you put it on your skin DILUTE IT. It will burn / irritate you
I tried using Dr. Bonners with extra things added to it. I unfortunately did not stick to it as I was still transitioning over a month. Not sure what to do now... have gone back to regular store bought shampoo....
Thank you for the video this is so helpful. I been switching to more organic and natural products. Do you dilute the apple cider vinegar or just use it straight when rinsing your hair? Also you have gorgeous shiny hair as well I can’t wait for my results!
I've been using Dr Bronner's castile soap and ACV rinse for several months now but still my hair feels oily after 4-5 hours of washing. Is it normal?? I feel like I need dry shampoo to control the oilyness of my hair.
I know this is an older comment but it sounds like your ratios are off or perhaps you need to use the Dr. Bronner's conditioning rinse. Some people's hair is very greasy when they use the regular liquid Dr. Bronner's undiluted.
I'm looking into using castile soap to wash my hair and this video is very helpful! I'm curious to know if the shampoo feels more runny compare to store bought shampoo that you feel the need to use more product to wash your hair? And with the apple cider vinegar, do you just rinse your hair with it after you rinse it with water? Do you use conditioner afterwards or that's considered it?
Stephanie Chan, the Castile soap definitly feels more runny than store bought shampoo, so I like to keep it in an old pump soap bottle that way I can easily control how much I use (usually about 2 pumps worth… which is not very much). I then rinse it out with water, then I squirt a little of the apple cider vinegar in my hair/all over my head (about 1 tablespoon total) and rinse that out with water too. After that, I'm done : ) Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you for your video! Im transitioning myself and my 11 year old daughter and she has greasy dandruffy hair and Im really hoping this and getting away from toxic products will help! You have beautiful hair that is similar to ours!
Thank you so much for sharing this...I tried ur method and my hair feels superb...if i only wash with the castile shampoo it felt really dry and sticky almost...i was ready to give up and found ur video! 😘
I ruined some of my hair follicles with apple cider vinegar and got dry air om it. Some don't grow in the neck, became thin and frizzy and I unerstood it was the A C V after seing the hair videos by Dr. Eric Berg. I wanted to avoid all chemicals in shampoos and I have now washed my hair with Syrian aleppo soap wich is just like castille or marseiile soap. As my hair has become so dry, I waited now two weeks to wash it, so I can combe it and it don't smell any wax. My brushes get something to clean off them but it don't smell anything. I guess it is soap, or comes from my hair and dust. I feel this is so much better and I will not go back to schampoos and balsam. The hair gets a bit strange feel to it, but it is also not like before as it is so dry after the appla vinegar, so I will just continue, and I think it don't matter that it feels a bit different. What matters, is it looks good and it smells good, never any strange or bad odor. I think my hair will become better now.
stephanie ross, I do not dilute the vinegar with water, but I probably should. Also, I usually squirt the vinegar close to my scalp. Hope that helps!! Thanks for watching : )
Im a week or so in, i use 1:1 ratio of vinegar and water after which leaves my hair super soft and tangle free. BUT my hair is greasy, my scalp and the hair on the crown seems pretty decent but mid to ends is oily and stringy. I dont understand...not sure how much longer I can keep this up for.
You have a lovely channel! I hope you continue uploading once in a while. Your voice is so pleasant and the calming music in the background makes it extra relaxing. I tried this in the past without having luck, but I don't think I gave it enough of a chance. Your hair looks so healthy and shiny, which gives me the motivation to attempt this again and stick to it for a while. Thanks for the nice video! I'm thinking I'll make that potato soup of yours in a few days when it gets extra chilly!
PineappleSkewer, thanks for the nice comment : ) I am hoping to upload some new videos soon…. but time just keeps getting away from me! I hope your experience with using Castile soap for shampoo is better this time around. If you did not use the apple cider vinegar the first time, definitely give it a try this time. It made a huge difference for me. I also hope you like the potato soup. Thanks for watching : )
At first I did have a slight problem with oily hair right around my ears, but now that I've been using Castile soap for shampoo for quite some time that concern has gone away. Hope that helps : )
Do you apply the vinegar before you rinse it off with water, with the water, or do you just use vinegar to rinse without water? And thank you for the helpful video
You rinse out the soap with water and then you do the acv rinse. It acts as a conditioner, your hairs ph goes up when you wash it so you bring it back down with the acv. It leaves the hair soft and detangled when it dries.
It can at first I think but if you dilute the vinegar and then rinse it out you should be good for the most part! If you don't want to mess with it though you can also use a diluted lemon juice rinse or purchase the citrus rinse off of Dr. Bronner's website. 😊
Did you use the lavender Castile soap with the vinegar rinse? I’m wondering because I want to buy the lavender soap... but I wouldn’t want the vinegar rinse to ruin the lavender smell
Victoria Golden, I've used both the Dr. Bronner's Lavender and the Dr. Bronner's Baby Unscented with the vinegar rinse. I still notice a lavender smell even when I use the vinegar to rinse my hair. I also use the 4-in-1 Lavender Organic Sugar Soap on occasion, and I rinse my hair with the vinegar then too -- I still notice the lavender smell : ) I don't use a lot of the vinegar either. Hope that helps!
Do you rinse with vinegar after you rinse the soap out with water or are you saying you don't rinse the excess soap out with water at all...only the vinegar? Thank you for this video. I have dry curly hair (normally) and the castile makes it very hard to brush / comb through after using! But I know back in the day this is what most people used before shampoo. Do you use conditioner? I know some people use vinegar instead of conditioner!
hipretty, I wash my hair with the Castile soap and rinse it out with water, then I use some vinegar and I rinse that out as well. I do not use any conditioner, just the vinegar. It seems to work well for me : ) Thanks for watching!
There r many different kinds of C. Soap, which one is best to use on thick course hair? ( I hv the lavender bottle). There's purple bottles, blue bottles etc.
Jamie Lee, that’s a bummer that the vinegar dried your hair out! I guess different things work for different people. Good luck with whatever technique you use next!
Does your hair smell strongly of vinegar? I use apple cider vinegar diluted as a toner and I can still smell it the following morning on my face! I really love Dr. Bonner’s and the vinegar...but I don’t want to smell like vinegar.
Mel Hanlon, sometimes there is a slight vinegar smell that fades away. I don't seem to notice it too much and neither does my husband. I also do not use a lot of vinegar when rinsing my hair -- a quick squirt seems to be enough to do the trick. Hope that helps! Also, I may have to try using vinegar as a toner too…. we'll see : ) Thanks for watching!
Aleeloves one word of caution, be sure to dilute it. Use 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 sterile water (I do use tap water so that isn’t a big deal). I washed my hair tonight with Dr. Bonner’s Tea Tree oil and rinsed with vinegar. I could not believe how soft my hair was! I was skeptical but you are so right! I do not smell the vinegar either....good bye $150 shampoo & conditioner!!!!!
Mel Hanlon, thanks for the information on using vinegar as a toner : ) Also, I am glad using Dr. Bronner's and vinegar in your hair worked well for you!
I did the dr bronners as a shampoo and the vinegar rinse and my hair feels really weird like it has oil in it. Did I do something wrong? I made sure I rinsed really good to get the soap out.
Hi Amy! No, it does not sound like you did anything wrong. It took my hair quite a while to adjust to using Dr. Bronner's for shampoo… like several months. But now, I use it daily and it works perfectly. (So I think your experience it normal for someone who is just starting out.) When I first started using Dr. Bronner's I almost gave up because I did not have a great experience, but the reasons why I decided to stick with it were 1) I wanted to know what was being used on my hair, 2) I wanted a shampoo that could also be used to wash my face and body, 3) I really liked that Dr. Bronner's can be used for other things too (hand soap, as a cleaning solution, to wash fruit, etc.), 4) I wanted to simplify the amount of products I have in my home, and 5) I was determined for some reason (plus, I had a giant bottle of the stuff and I did not want to waste it) : ) In the end, I am glad I stuck with it and made the change from "regular" shampoo to Dr. Bronner's and vinegar. If you do stick with it for a while, let me know what you think/if it gets better. Good luck!!
Aleeloves thanks for answering me, ok so I am doing it right then. I’m going to stick with it because regular shampoo makes my scalp break out. Do you rinse the vinegar out or leave it in?
thanks so much - - i washed for the first time this morning - - did not want the vinegar aroma so i conditioned with another health food store conditioner as they did not have the dr. bronner's rinse - tricky - but like you - - i persist - - my hair feels nice - - free of build up - i will use vinegar if i cannot find dr. bronners - thanks again - - your hair is beautiful shiny!
I have not found the Dr. Bronner's rise in stores where I live either which is why I went with the vinegar. The smell is really not too bad : ) Good luck and thanks for watching!
I've been using this for 2 weeks now (maybe 3-4 times washing my hair) and my hair just kind of stinks or has a musty smell like scalp, no one else notices it so it might just be me
Hello, thank you for your testimony. I bought the bar soap and the liquid Castile Soap. Can you please share the Ratios? how much water to diluted the Castile Soap and the same with the Vinegar. your information is useless if you don't share how to do it. That is more important that the links you left for the music. Thanks
Does your hair have a vinegar smell after rinsing? I’m very interested in trying this but I despise the smell of vinegar & wouldn’t want the smell to stick.
Mary Crumley, sometimes there is a slight vinegar smell that fades away. I don't seem to notice it too much and neither does my husband. I also do not use a lot of vinegar when rinsing my hair -- a quick squirt seems to be enough to do the trick. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
@holistichabits has a video on infusing herbs like lavender, sage, and rosemary in acv for a rinse with added fragrance and nutrients. I always wash my dog with dr bronners but now I want to try it for myself.
So far I’ve seen countless videos but nobody speaks about ratio in detail. Is so frustrating 🤦♀️. How much Dr B and water, how much vinegar and water, do you leave in the vinegar, for how long, do you rinse it out.
Naykxist Light, I've never just used the apple cider vinegar (without using the Dr. Bronner's first) but I think that some people do. If you give it a try, let me know how it works for you. Thanks for watching!
Hi! Interesting video, i wash my hair with dr bronner also, and use acv as a conditioner like you do. I do want to state that i use this method when i have too much build up from hairwax/clay. My question is: does this damage your hair in the long run? Because i only use this like once a month, (the other times i wash my hair with wheat flour (ph5), wich works fine too, but less effective for build up.
A Rijkse, I am not sure if using this method can damage hair in the long run. I know that I've been using this method for over a year now and it seems to be working fine for me. I used to wash my hair daily, but now I only wash my hair about once every two to three days which seems to work well during this time of year (I will probably increase how often I wash my hair over the summer when it is hotter outside). I am curious about using wheat flour for shampoo... I may give that a try : ) But, I personally have not had any problems using this method yet. Thanks for watching!
Aleeloves Thanks for the fast response! Wheat flower works fine and is very gentle on the hair. I am a male with short hair, so i don’t know how it works on longer hair that most females have. All the best!
Maria Volkhonskaya, I used to wash my hair like this daily; however, within the past month or two I reduced how often I wash my hair to 2-3 times per week. This has been working out really well for me, so I think I'll stick with it for now. I'm sure once it is hot again I will go back to washing my hair daily though. I've never gone an entire week between washing my hair before, but I'd say give it a try and see if it works for you. It may take some time to adjust to using this method for washing your hair, or to washing your hair once a week or once every 5 days (unless you are doing that now with your current shampoo method). I hope it works out for you and good luck! Thanks for watching : )
Aakanksha Dharmale, sometimes there is a slight vinegar smell that fades away… I don't seem to notice it too much and neither does my husband. I also do not use a lot of vinegar when rinsing my hair -- a quick squirt seems to be enough to do the trick. Hope that helps!

I have dry hair so I mix mine with coconut milk and rinse my hair before washing with Apple cider vinegar
I truly mean this compliment sincerely.
sumrsolo, thanks for the comment and thanks for watching : )
You actually do have beautiful hair.
Thanks My HashTagged Life : )
That’s what I was thinking
I was JUST about to give up until I saw this video! I just used the ACV rinse and it worked!! Thank you SO much!
Preppie Prepper, so glad it worked for you! Thanks for watching : )
The music really gives this video a different sort of tone. I appreciate you looking out for us!
G The Entity thanks for watching : )
Did you do a lemon or vinegar rinse?
My current thoughts about using Castile soap as shampoo are:
Always dilute.
If people are using the liquid heavy enough to create a regular lather, that’s way too much and will not rinse out well
Tats wat I tot. Which one should I get btw? Almond or lavender bar soap btw I do have dry(not very very dry) and coloured hair
you're not really supposed to wash your hair every day, that build up in your hair is the strong castile soap reacting with hard water deposits if you dilute the soap more and wash your hair once or twice a week you won't need the vinegar
@@Elizabeth-tb5oh use a hair mask after
@@Elizabeth-tb5oh Hmmm. . .this could be for a number of reasons.
Happy hair journey's to all💕
sending love, thanks for the comment and for watching : )
Same :). Can u recommend a good shampoo for dendruff scalp but oily hair
I hope this helps
Happy hair journey💕
It also helps to work up a lather in your palms b4 shampoo applying to wet hair.
Actually I have used the Baby bar by making the lather ( works best with distilled water) in my palms…..that has probably been my best result with Bronners for makes a nice lather . I am using that more…it also seems to rinse out easier
Im sorry you had trouble my wife and I both use this and we've been lucky to have No Problems we just use it and go about our normal hair grooming routines.
Caution with the lavender and other scents …I had eye allergies with the lavender
Maybe the almond is the most mild scent.I also had some difficulty with using the Bronners for shampooing. I had the best results with diluting it a bit and giving my hair a pre rinse of distilled water b4 applying the soap…..and an end rinse with ACV
( about 2 tbsp to a quart of lukewarm water bottles and following that with a quick cool water rinse.
Hello! Do you dilute the apple cider vinegar with water? If so, what is the measurement for the apple cider vinegar mixture??
Thank you for the concise and quick explanation. And you have beautiful hair!
How’s it been going?
This has been my experience too.
@@LilacRabbitGamingdo you rinse out the ACV after you apply it to your hair?
Update: Its been 4 months. The soap still sucks honestly. If I don't dilute the soap and rinse it out immediately, it stays in my hair and makes it look all greasy for a few days. The ACV rinse does help but not as well as I wish it did.
Thank you! For me it wasn't that my hair was getting out, but that it felt greasy. I also wasn't rinsing it with anything just rinsing it out of my hair after wash with water and I also didn't dilute it. Just used barely a cap full... I ended up buying shampoo, but don't want to give up on castile soap. Thanks for this video. 😊
I keep telling myself that my hair is still adjusting but I am gonna try the ACV. Thank you for the insight!! ♥️
Great ideas!
i know its late ..but start with natural shampoo...amla shikakai and reetha equal quantities...soak overnight ..boil .u will love it
I actually mix it with an oil and it works really well for me :)
Ciara x, that's great. What kind of oil do use and how much?
Me too. I use jojoba oil
Why bars vs liquid?
@@zz-.- i travel for a living. Liquid is messy. When going into high altitudes, liquids can seep out of the container. I also like bars because I’m cutting down on plastic usage. Just a preference.

@kace9103 Thanx 😊 for yr response
Vinegar makes the water softer that may explain why. This may depend on the water hardness in your area. But thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
It also balances the pH to more acid as soaps are too alkaline.
Thanks for this. I am in the process of switching.
Acv rinse first then castile. Thanks!
Just bought a local castile soap for face but I want to try it for my body and hair too ❤️
I loveeee dr bonners lavender soap.. fabulous on my skin.
I just used the Rose scent… loving it.
I did find a few pH balanced shampoo recipes online at the following sites: helloglow.co/hair-ph-balanced-shampoo/ www.thankyourbody.com/ph-balanced-shampoo-recipe/
I have not tried either of these recipes, so I cannot speak to how well they work, but they may be a little more along the lines of what you are looking for. The good news is if you don't end up using the Dr. Bronner's or ACV to wash your hair, you can still use both of them for a number of other things : ) I hope you find something that works for you! Thanks for watching.
These look great! Thanks for the response.
cartergirl3of3 the instruction in the bottle says to rise with ACV
If you have color treated hair, you have to add oils and teas, and dilute to keep your color from fading!
Joseph Valenti Why is anyone still putting that cancer causing toxic poison on the skin closest to the brain? Yikes!

Thank you for the review of the Dr. Bronners. I just tried it for the first time today and was disappointed, but your video helps! :) Thanks!
Alesia, don't give up - it gets better over time : ) Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I'll keep trying. :)
Also, make sure you dilute it!
Thank you for helpful video :) Could you write how much vinegar you give and how much soap, please
The hair has oils that protect your hair and washing it every day strips it of nutrients and makes it brittle and dry
soap hair..... rinse with water first before you use the AC Vinegar? After Vinegar do you rinse that out with water? What's the protocol?
I made a batch last night! 1:1/2 ratio water: Castile soap. I steeped the water in green tea. Added some honey and olive oil. Fingers crossed. Someone recommended using the ACV solution if using baking soda paste.
are you still doing this routine 6yrs later? I’m hesitant bc of longevity - how is your hair now vs where it was before you transitioned?
Appreciate your video, but all that is perfectly explained in the Dr.Bronner’s web page how to make the transition and that is highly recommendable to use the vinegar.
Victoria Stefanova, thanks for watching : )
Doing research for switching shampoos. Thanks for the tip
Try using just a little amount of Castille soap, diluted on water with a teaspoon of baking soda ❤
Yes! Thank You!!!❤
This won’t work for everyone because coconut oil in the castile oil might effect it depending on your hair type / genetics.
It will burn / irritate you
Have heard something about high ph levels for hair. Is this true
I tried using Dr. Bonners with extra things added to it. I unfortunately did not stick to it as I was still transitioning over a month. Not sure what to do now... have gone back to regular store bought shampoo....
Elizabeth Moorhead, everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another. Good luck figuring out what works best for you!
You have beautiful hair. I love the texture. Very helpful video.
Do you think the 4-in-1 lavender soap is better for hair wash than any other natural/organic shampoo?
Piano music is louder then what she is saying, WHY do people put music in the background while speaking??????
Ahhh got it. Thank you for your reply! :)
Diluate a little drop in more water before apply it on hair....is very strong
Do you dilute the ACV or do you just use it straight up?
Thank you for your video! Im transitioning myself and my 11 year old daughter and she has greasy dandruffy hair and Im really hoping this and getting away from toxic products will help! You have beautiful hair that is similar to ours!
Your hair looks absolutely beautiful...
I think my hair will become better now.
thank you beautiful. do you put mix apple cider vinegar with water and also do you put it in your scalp too? thank you for sharing
stephanie ross, I do not dilute the vinegar with water, but I probably should. Also, I usually squirt the vinegar close to my scalp. Hope that helps!! Thanks for watching : )

Did you have problems with oily hair after using Castile soap?
At first I did have a slight problem with oily hair right around my ears, but now that I've been using Castile soap for shampoo for quite some time that concern has gone away. Hope that helps : )
Aleeloves that's good to know, thanks ! :)
Could u please tell me if this makes your hair smell like vinegar? Also, how long do u leave the vinegar on before u rinse it out? Thank u ☺️
It can at first I think but if you dilute the vinegar and then rinse it out you should be good for the most part! If you don't want to mess with it though you can also use a diluted lemon juice rinse or purchase the citrus rinse off of Dr. Bronner's website. 😊
@@hellokittydoll2794 Thank you 🤗
Did you use the lavender Castile soap with the vinegar rinse?
Aleeloves thank you, that helps a lot! :)
Do you rinse with vinegar after you rinse the soap out with water or are you saying you don't rinse the excess soap out with water at all...only the vinegar? Thank you for this video.

Amy, I rinse the vinegar out : )
Aleeloves ok thanks!
How do you deal with the smell of vinegar after the rince, it's a problem for me (am I using too much vinegar or is there more to it ?)
The smell dissipates after the hair dries.
thanks so much - - i washed for the first time this morning - - did not want the vinegar aroma so i conditioned with another health food store conditioner as they did not have the dr. bronner's rinse - tricky - but like you - - i persist - - my hair feels nice - - free of build up - i will use vinegar if i cannot find dr. bronners - thanks again - - your hair is beautiful shiny!
I have not found the Dr. Bronner's rise in stores where I live either which is why I went with the vinegar. The smell is really not too bad : ) Good luck and thanks for watching!
how nice your reply - - i decided to order on amazon
Thank you taking time to do this video!
Chenxing Liu, thanks for watching!
I've been using this for 2 weeks now (maybe 3-4 times washing my hair) and my hair just kind of stinks or has a musty smell like scalp, no one else notices it so it might just be me
Sorry to be a pest, but do you wash with Castile soap, then rinse with vinegar, then water??
Green Giraffe, you're not a pest. Yes, I wash with Castile soap, rinse with vinegar, then rinse with water : )
Aleeloves Thank you. Sending hugs from bonny Scotland. Xxx
When you rinse with vinegar do you dilute it???
Violeta Rios I was wondering the same
I do the powder I want to try the liquid
Is hair breaking part of the transition
Hello, thank you for your testimony. I bought the bar soap and the liquid Castile Soap. Can you please share the Ratios? how much water to diluted the Castile Soap and the same with the Vinegar. your information is useless if you don't share how to do it. That is more important that the links you left for the music. Thanks
Exactly, every video I see is s frustrating blah blah blah, but no one tells you the ratio.
Curious as to how often you use this to wash your hair?
Idk what you're talking about! Your hair is beautiful.
I have naturally oily hair. I did mine today and my hair is oily. It looks like I didn't even wash it. I react to vintager.
I don't how to do by step by step Wht to mix pls explain how to use the castle so as
Thanks for the video... pretty sure you're support to dilute with water but the vinegar advice is good to know :)
Can I use just vinegar?
Naykxist Light, I've never just used the apple cider vinegar (without using the Dr. Bronner's first) but I think that some people do. If you give it a try, let me know how it works for you. Thanks for watching!
Great information, thanks for sharing 🙏
Do you wash your hair every day? Will this method work if I want to wash my hair just once a week or at least five days?
Thanks for watching : )
hi thanks for info. does vinegar smell after rinse???
