From Russia with love. This buses from my childehood.. Thousands and thousands of kilometers were covered on Ikarus 259. I even found Ikarus 55 in my city and managed to ride it! I had a happy childhood! :) Thanks to the Hungarians for the good work and our good memories

@RoxRed Én azért megnézném, hogy abban az időben (rendszerben), hogy csináltuk vólna ezt meg. Úgy, hogy Afrikától, Ázsián át, Dél-Amerikáig értékesítve volt. Eszméletlen mennyíségű nyersanyag felhasználás. Ja és a mai napig üzemelnek. Muttas még egy ilyen teljesítményt.
Nem csak egy, hanem egy HÍRES cég ami buszokat gyárt, bár abban igazad van, hogy a legújjabb ikarusok már nem sikerültek olyan jól.

Spent the first 12 yrs of my life riding these beauties in Poland before we immigrated. Such awesome memories. The distinct sound of the engine and doors opening and closing. Manual transmissions also. So many memories.

From Tanzania, we used to have to operate Ikarus buses way back in the 1980's. They were articulated ones, nicknamed "Ikarus kumbakumba"

Fiatal koromban még sikerült az Ikarus -180-asra ülni, egészen a legnagyobb tömegben gyártott modellig - 280-ig. Az Ikarus busznak be kell kerülnie a Guinness Rekordok Könyvébe, mert naponta több millió embert szállított a szocialista országokban. tábort Kelet-Németországtól a Szovjetunió legtávolabbi keleti részéig. There were two typical Ikarus hubcap. When I was child I allways watched these kind of details. It is funny to see how long they survived the evolution of different bodyworks. The first typical appeared in 1950 on the Ikarus-Mávag TR50, and as I can see its last presence is in 1987 on the 280T GVM. The second one appeared in 1954 on no. 31 bus, and its last presence is in 1984 on the 543.70 prototype.

These were sold in so many countries: at 9:27 is the 286, which was even sold in Canada and the USA.

This is the bus of my childhood too in Tunisia we had these buses in the 70s and 80s. Just like we had the M41 locomotives from Ganz Mavag.

On late 50s, at least some Ikarus buses came with access door for the driver.Mainly, the 66 and 311. The following models, with double passsanger foldable doors
sure, these pics are not all there was. That company kept developing buses for 60 years. My parents spent their active life working there, my dad was a chief engineer and even he could not list up all models and combinations. This slideshow is a taste of the entire lineup, especially if prototypes are considered too.

Ikarus were the best public transport buses in Tanzania in 1980s in Dar es Salaam under the banner of UDA.
Wow ! Самый массовый автобус стран соцлагеря от запада ГДР, до Востока СССР. Я успел поездить от модели 180 Икаруса в начале 70-тых годов до 280-той, вплоть до конца 90-х годов. До сих пор помню ощущение "неудобства" от пересадки из белой 180-той "гармошки" в Икарус - 280, которые стали ездить в нашем городе с середины 70-х годов. "Неудобство" выражалось в том, что в новых жёлтых Икарусам мне, совсем маленькому было непросто тянуться к высокому окну, чтобы что то посмотреть там. В беленьком прежнем Икарусе -180 с этим было всё в порядке и окна там были сделаны ниже к полу автобуса ))

Хорошая марка. Довелось ездить практически на всех моделях автобусов. А 55 люкс в своё время был вообще как японская дальнеходная торпеда, даже, пожалуй, похлеще 250. "Гармошка" это вообще особая тема. Жаль, что завод закончил линейку. Очень.

Mein Favorit ist der Ikarus 66. Den fand ich schon als Kind immer kult.
Und der Ikarus 55. Die fand ich so toll.
Fun fact: even though the E92 was not listed as a prototype, it was one. There was only one made that was used in the little city where I live. But it had all the flaws of a prototype. The mechanics weren't given the knowledge to maintain it, but it needed it very much, since it broke down every two weeks, or less.
The PALT (Passenger and Luggage Together) system airport buses represented an interesting future, pity the project was shut down too soon. One of those 3 PALT prototype buses dwells now at the Ferihegy Airport Museum also known as Aeropark Budapest, unfortunately in bad condition, but not without hope of restoration.

22:37 The 263T is an older type used for Tanulójárat (learner-driver service) purposes
Sad there are less Ikarus buses running in the home country but it's not the end, they will keep on developing and operating them in the future, no matter what times are and will come.

The PALT concept was completely nonsense, and unfortunately it was pretty much clear to the officials by the time of building it...
With the railcar, there was the very slight issue that it had only one driver's cab...
On the other hand, the Ikarus-chassis DMUs that were actually succesful in Malaysia could have been shown in the video.

Ich bin seit meiner Kindheit in der DDR absoluter Ikarus - Fan. Vor allem natürlich der 55-er, der 66-er und der 630 haben es mir angetan. Wer weiß heute schon noch, dass Ikarus mit dem 55-er Wegbereiter für selbsttragende Bus- Karosserien, noch vor Setra, gewesen ist? 👍😊

A 19:08-nál levő Ikarus 246-os Voith automata váltóval rendelkezett, ha jól emlékszem 5 fokozatúval.
Az 1990-es években helyi használatra gyártott 260.xx, és 280.xx (és még néhány hasonló) buszokban Praga automata váltók voltak, 2 fokozattal, kipufogófékkel párosítva! Ez a váltótípus meg sincs említve a videóban!

Эх, потерял свою легендарную внешность. Круглые фары в решетке радиатора с хромированной окантовкой. Конструкторам нужно было как-то обыграть эту внешность на новых моделях. Но имеем теперь обычный безликий современный автобус. Пластиковая морда, маленькие хитрые глазки, не понятно какая марка автобуса.
Пупкин. Этот автобус к тому Икарусу никакого отношения не имеет завод Икарус давным давно прекратил свое существование и полностью разрушен( можешь найти на Ютубе видео о развалинах бывшего завода). А нынешний Икарус- это кустарная мастерская,производящяя эти автобусы буквально поштучно.

The video is very nice with a few inaccuracies. What i noticed: 7:51 is not an 1975 280T but a 280 GVM trolleybus from the early nineties. 280T were regular 280 chassis with electronics from scrapped ZIU5 trolleys instead of the diesel drivetrain, and had 4-part folding doors.
Also 13:00 and 13:03 are much later subtypes of the 415 (originally 410) and 435.
At 21:43 it was certainly not manufactured by Ikarus in the 2000s. It rather looks like Bulgarian-rebuilt (?) Ikarus-GVM trolleybus from the late eighties. Similarly, 22:33 the 412GT and 263T are rebuilt from old diesel chassis and GVM electronics by the operator BKV.
I feel that slightly less photos with more context would have been more interesting.
To my knowledge Ikarus is not manufactured anymore. The name usage is owned by a company that doesn't produce any buses. A few companies manufactured models based on Ikarus for a while. The last actual Ikarus buses evolved into ARC then they used the name Ikarus again then Modulo, and the E91 evolved to S91.
Also some companies were building buses based on licenced Ikarus 200 design, most notably Karosa in Czechoslovakia and Giron in in Cuba.

Madziarzy , nie ujmując chwały innym autobusom w/g mnie uważam Ikarusy za jedne z najpiękniejszych autobusów jako środków zbiorowego transportu . Po obejrzeniu zauważyłem podobieństwo naszego Polskiego Autosana do waszego Ikarusa co wynikło ze współpracy z Węgrami , szczególnie 657 i Mavaut z roku 1966 . Wrażenie robi 293 , dwa przeguby !!! ile zabierał pasażerów , chyba około 400 .
