Baltimore bridge collapse: Recovery efforts underway for missing construction workers

- Six people are now presumed dead following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge Tuesday. The recovery efforts are ongoing as dive teams search for the construction workers, who had been part of an eight-person crew filling potholes on the bridge in the early morning hours when it collapsed, officials say.

There was 2 min. from the mayday call until the bridge collapsed.
In 63 t0 65, I was a Marine guard on a Navy ship. Ships don't do anything fast, stop, start, turn, it's all slomo. After I was discharged, my first job was at General Dynamics shipyard in Quincy Mass. I welded on monster size Navy ships building for war in Nam. Unless you been on or in a big Navy ship, you simply have no clue how frigging big they really are. That container carrier was basically as big as an aircraft carrier, big, city block long big. My initial thoughts about this bridge bullshit is that they are lying to us. My second comment is to ask WTF were the attendant tugs? There should have been 4 tugs around that sucker and going a damn site slower than 10 Knots inside a harbor. Don't settle for this drivel, if enough people complain, the truth will be told. At best, this was done on purpose and heads need to roll.

Isn't this bridge a major transport line for commerce and trade. This was done on purpose, the ship was lined up to strike the bridge before the power went out. This was an attack by Malaysia, plain and simple and very evident!!!!!
I would say that I agree; this most def looks intentional; how do you just happen to lose control of a new super tanker and it be perfectly lined up to take out the entire bridge on both sides of the impact? Riiigght
Boat lost power, lights out. Then fired back up, lights back on and a large diesel plume of smoke rises from the stacks, ship was under power, I did not see any reverse prop wake nor did I see an anchor drop. This could have been avoided…

4,700 shipping containers on a barge that is just under the length of an aircraft carrier. Maybe, like our 2 mile+ long trains that keep crashing, these are just too big with too few crew members to sustain themselves (or continue to wedge through the Suez Canal). How many of those containers were carrying critical cargo? We don’t have industry here anymore instead we have moving metal icebergs carrying cheaply made, near slave labor goods from halfway across the globe.
There likely is an argument to be made about cargo ships being overloaded and undermanned in general, however this incident appears to be a result of a power failure.
