If grunge didn't kill the popularity of this kind of music I think they could have achieved success in America with this singer. Keiko is a fantastic singer and frontwoman but she has a Japanese accent and couldn't speak English. Back then 30 years ago the language barrier was a lot bigger than it is now. That's why Japanese bands like Loudness and Cats in Boots hired American singers to handle the vocals and the interviews. X Japan were even offered a record deal with Atlantic records and it was cancelled after a disastrous press conference where they couldn't answer any questions.
