Same here. My favorite player. He just needs to get at peace with himself and he'll go on a van Gerwen streak.

Hmm not sure about that, but he could definitely win more tournaments if he backs up his big scoring more regularly

Can anyone explain me why so many times the players go the 20/19/18 route? And are ending with 57 points. Thank you for answers.

It's all to do with the lay of the dart, some dart players throwing actions make the dart either lay horizontal with the board, at a slight incline, or a slight decline. Depending on the situation, the lie of the dart makes the treble unlikely, so the player switches to the next highest segment that would avail a treble without any obstacles, and obviously they go for the higher scored segments such at 20/19/18 and corresponding trebles, which will get them down to a finish quicker and hence provide greater chances to win legs/sets and ultimately matches.

Darts Fab But why not chosing again tripple 20 instead of 18? I would chose this.

I'm not sure of the exact situation you are trying to describe, but the only reason a player normally switches from a higher scored segment to a lower scoring one, is because either the higher scoring segment/treble is blocked thanks to the lie of an existing dart, or because they want to leave a specific finish

Darts Fab Okay, they chose tripple 20, not hitting tripple 20. Then they go to tripple 19, not hitting this. And third on tripple 18, not hitting this. But so far I have never seen neither the 20 blocked nor the 19. This is simply strange to me. Only 57 points then! Perhaps I have now explained it better.

I understand what you are saying now, Thanks. Basically it's down to the player I think, for example, James wade, he will almost always stay on the 20 target, no matter what the lay of the dart, he just has no interest in switching unless absolutely necessary, but other players, one in particular comes to mind, Mervyn King, he will switch targets to 20/19/18 just as its part of his playing style (irrespective of the lay of the dart), I just think its particular players that either like switching as they favour hitting a treble more if they attempt to switch targets, instead of trying to attempt the same treble target multiple times. Its the first dart that acts as the lead for the next 2.
