Dave Chisnall had never been more nervous in his life. He was facing Gerwyn Price, the world number one and defending champion of the Baltic sea dart open 2023, in the final. The Welshman had been unstoppable throughout the tournament, averaging over 100 in every match and hitting 180s for fun. Chisnall knew he had to play his best darts ever to have a chance.
The match started with a bang as both players broke each other's throw in the first two legs. Price then held his nerve to take out 76 for a 2-1 lead. Chisnall responded with a brilliant 11-darter to level at 2-2. The crowd was on their feet as they witnessed a high-quality contest between two of the best players in the world.
The next four legs went with throw as neither player could find a break opportunity. Price was averaging 108 while Chisnall was not far behind with 107. The score was tied at 4-4 and both players knew that one mistake could cost them the title.
The ninth leg proved to be crucial as Chisnall found his first break of throw with a stunning 121 checkout on the bullseye. He roared with delight as he moved within one leg of victory. Price looked stunned but he was not ready to give up yet.
The tenth leg saw Price apply some pressure on Chisnall's throw with two consecutive 140s. Chisnall needed a big score to keep his advantage but he faltered with only 60 points. Price seized his chance and hit another 140 to leave himself on tops after nine darts. Chisnall had no choice but to go for another bullseye finish, this time from 161.
He took aim and threw his first dart which landed just inside the outer bull ring for a single 25. He needed another bullseye and then double eighteen to win the match and the title. He threw his second dart which flew towards the center of the board and hit its target perfectly - another bullseye! The crowd gasped as they witnessed an incredible shot from Chisnall who now had one dart left for glory.
He composed himself and threw his final dart which landed just inside double eighteen for an unbelievable checkout and an amazing victory over Price who could only applaud his opponent's brilliance.
Chisnall jumped into the air and punched it with joy as he celebrated his first major title since winning the World Grand Prix in 2020. He hugged Price who congratulated him sincerely on his performance. They both walked off stage together as friends and rivals who had put on a show for everyone watching.
Chisnall lifted the trophy aloft as confetti rained down on him while Price looked on with admiration and respect. They both smiled at each other knowing that they had played one of the best matches of their careers.

Remember though folks, your 3 dart average will always be inflated when you play against someone who is scoring heavily.
Chizzy is always out of his skin against Gezzy. Gezzy rarely gets the better of him. Crazy since Gezzy is the better player just looking at his career wins.
I can't believe that Gezzy lost with a 108 average... That's both mad and brutal...
