I like his other manga, leader takeshi has a good heart and funny dialogue, also some good fights but not a Focus for the nos part.
I remember it because I was living in Japan at the time and DB Kai was being shown on Tv. After they finished the cell Saga I thought they were going to continue with the Buu Saga but instead DB Kai was replaced by Toriko and I was really pissed. I was like why is Toriko a part of this crossover instead of Naruto or Bleach? I believe the reason they did a crossover between DB OP and Toriko and Naruto was not involved is because all three aired on TV Tokyo but Naruto was on a different channel.
@@sonnywoods6846 Toei has rights to DB, OP and Toriko. Pierrot has Bleach and Naruto so unless they wanted to do a collab, Toei would just stick with the ones they own.

Let’s be honest, Some people in our fanbase are screwed, they just can’t stop saying ‘GOKU SOLOS’ it’s extremely annoying. I think the best anime fans are the people who watch One Piece and Dragon Ball in my opinion. Those animes are goated.
It’s kinda crazy how you can basically pinpoint exactly when the animators souls were crushed by the workload, if you play the special backwards.
That Toriko, DBZ , One piece crossover was WILD to see. It’s hard to get if you didn’t watch it then. Seeing the main/side characters interact was so sick.
It was badly written.
If you search for it, in the smallest darkest corners of youtube they have full episodes. They also have a fan dub that sounds almost convincing to be the english version.
i decided just to not watch it, because the definitive version of Luffy to me is his japanese va. but for Goku it’s his english va, so either way if i watched it something would feel weird n it’d piss me off the whole time. and i heard it wasn’t that good anyway so i didn’t wna force myself to watch it. was it any good tho? are there people who enjoyed it?

The animators that can produce great art great animation at the same time, but fortunately laugh speed and are unable to finish it quickly are the ones that need more time, and if they had more time, this anime crossover special would have come out booking amazing.

Hey Vegeta’s hair was partially blue in eyecatch, because he was beginning to turn into SSGSS.
Man, those 3 minute re-caps takes me back... God, was the One Piece anime floundering back then.
naruto took a path of filler to keep the manga ahead, one piece took the path of dragging out actual stuff to keep the manga ahead.
This is why I couldn't really get into the special when they finally aired the dub. Everything felt so stiff and plastic, and the characters didn't look how they usually should.
And while I know of Toriko (and thought it was an ok series), having it crossover with DB and One Piece kinda dates the special because it just didn't have the long-lasting popularity those two have. Not everyone is going to recognize it or it's characters.
The Toriko manga was a masterpiece tho. Toei was not the right studio for it

It was reaired in Japan as well, so I don't believe that has much to do with it.
Toriko is actually lit
Having watched this in 2015, this was out shortly after Battle of Z and Battle of Gods and so I recall it being a nostalgic watch at the time for me as I grouped it with EVEN more DBZ content after the drought in games and media. I dubbed it pretty good for what it was, especially finding the Goku bit with him leaving and coming back to be some sort of reference to something happening at the time (my first thought was Battle of Gods naturally), but I guess it was just a throwaway joke that Goku can just pop in and out of the tournament.

the art is 100% his 11:01, just heavily modified by Ide. the cuts after look like hisada's ka
impact frames at 10:52 are also identical to the ones at 13:25, so pre certain that cut was his as well, the actual kamehameha release tho doesn't look like him
@@forgottenrelics1197 I'm not sure that the impact frames both at 10:52 or 13:25 are Shida either way, they look very flat and simple compared to the way he does impact frames.
And at 11:01, the art doesn't look Shida to me either, just pure Ide, who had already done a lot of correction work on Shida's work later on the special, and didn't erase any of Shida's traits, just added his own for a weird artistic blend.

Ide's approach isn't consistent for Shida.
And you can see Shida using flat and simple impact frames at 0:43 in the same clip linked above. He did a massive amount of work on this special so it adds up that some of it would be rougher than usual.
@@forgottenrelics1197 It's not his whatsoever. Even through Ide's corrections later, you can see it's Shida. The timing and the effects is just not even remotely Shida whatsoever. I have no idea how you've come to the conclusion it's him. It's just not. The two impact frames you're comparing are both not Shida. His scene doesn't begin until the cut where Toriko swipes.

Toriko was seem to fit well to join the collaboration with One Piece and Dragon Ball considering of how broken and OP his verse was
One thing that I had a problem with the special when it was finally going to be dub was the fact that it was only the crossover special itself that was dubs and not the other episodes prior, especially since this was the first time seeing this crossover and in the beginning I was really disappointed that didn’t bother showing the episodes prior before because I was very confused about what was going on.
The only reason I can think of why now is because torikos 15 anniversary but wouldn't have thought they would do it after all that time

I think the reason this episode was finally dubbed for the first time was just cuz One Piece has been airing on Toonami and maybe since the broadcast just got to the 600s they were like "oh hey we skipped 590, can we dub that?" that's my only guess. Tho in the case of Toriko, does anybody know why they didn't dub episodes 1 and 51? Funimation had the license for up to episode 52 so I don't understand why those episodes at least weren't dubbed. Like the part 1 of this crossover I get cuz that was episode 99

I was pretty certain it was as the indented cheek shading and impact frame looked exactly like him. If you compare the impact frame from 10:52 to 13:25 there identical.
Also the character art (although corrected) with Goku charging the Kamehameha shortly after is definitely him. Although I agree the cuts at 11:03 look like Hisada with his classic wide heads, poses and timing.

The Hiragana for it is written as 「ニ―バ」. If you see that dash (ー）after a letter, you're supposed to hold the last sound The previous sound is "ニ" or "Ni". So the dash extends the i sound.

He often animates on 1's and 2's (so a new drawing every 1 or 2 frames) with really tight spacing between the drawings.
It's like the programs they use to make the anime just can't get any thinner line width or fit anymore detail lol

Actually I think it’s suddenly getting dubbed and released now because the dub of One Piece only just got to where the sub was in 2013 and the special aired around the point the dub is at now. It’s otherwise a massive coincidence in timing.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this, but Dragon Ball and One Piece having a crossover is something that really wasn't unfamiliar by the point of this special. There's Battle Stadium DON which came out back in 2006, along with Cross Epoch which was a manga crossover in which Dragon Ball characters were adapted into the world of One Piece."
So if anything, it's more like Toriko is the one being shoved in to try to bolster its lacking popularity.
Speaking of which, Cross Epoch should've just been animated instead.
I hope that one day it will adapt cross epoch with the modern chara desing of the characters
