Wise people go for reliability. Toyota/Lexus = Reliability. That's an almost brand new car !!! Toyota/Lexus and Honda these are like solid, bullet proof cars. Congratulations for making such wise decision. 👏 If your son takes care of this car properly I bet your grandkids gonna ride it too.
Yeah Honda repaired their oil dilution problems. Idk how the fuck they made such a great ass engine with so much power and reliability whole turboed. My guy got a 2018 accord with the 2.0t motor at 140k miles. HE'S PUSHED IT damn near since he's got it. Traveled everywhere, raced random people alot in super hot areas, to doing dumb shit around in the cold. The power literally is insane aswell, he raced a legit OG nsx on the highway and won. 😂😂
Mostly agree, but be aware nothing is ever set in stone. Honda's reliability has dropped to the point where they are no longer in the top 10 according to consumer reports. Their use of CVT transmissions and turbocharged engines are really hurting them. Meanwhile, as of this year, Mazda is now the second most reliable manufacturer immediately behind Lexus and pushing Toyota into third place. Toyota Mazda and Lexus are the way to go at this point.
@@bioheart09 power? Most of their engines could reach that power turbo charged lol since the engines were already reliable why would this be different? Lol

This one time when I asked Scotty Kilmer his opinion on a c 400 Mercedes and a Lexus IS350 and he steered us completely away from the Mercedes as they have huge unreliability reports and low-quality. Needless to say, my Dad's cousin bought a Mercedes around the same time we got the Lexus instead and his had a few problems with starting, computer systems and transmission and so far the Lexus has had absolutely no problems.
I hear a lot of people taking down on Benz's, but these are always people that never owned one. I've owned both , a lexus doesn't even compare to a Benz in any way absolutely nothing is as good.
@Jess Sprinkel thank you for the comment. Just curious, when you change to a different vehicle, like sell or trade it, what is the usual mileage that you do so? Thanks! 🙂
I'd like to see Scotty feature it on his channel as well. I hope you took his advice and also had a trusted mechanic inspect it before you bought it. It would be worth taking a road trip to Clarksville TN for a family holiday and see your quality purchase featured on his channel, plus you'd also get him to take a look at it to point out anything that may need to be done. I doubt anything major will be needed as the previous owner(s) probably did take care of it.
Well you have certainly learned one thing from Scotty Kilmer: How to come up w. a click bait title. With that said, you guys are adorable and I wish you the best luck with your Lexus. I've been a Toyota fanatic for about 30 years.
@@TinyIowa Disappointment was because of the clickbait, aka "dishonesty", not because your car didnt blow... There's thousands of videos jerking of Lexus. You didnt make any great discovery in them being reliable.
I'm 17 and picked up a 1995 SC400 for 3k with only 137k miles five months ago, it gets me to school and back with errands in between every day. You guys made a great choice old Lexus's/Toyota's are really the best first cars
Not just the best first car. I’ve been driving a first gen IS for 10 years now, (albeit this is my 4th one) and I TRULY love this car. I’ll still be driving one for years to come. I have no desire for anything else unless you get into a MUCH higher price bracket. Scotty didn’t steer you wrong. Edit: to clarify, never had a major problem with my first 3. I just drive quite a bit and I’m always looking for a cleaner one lol. I’m super anal about my car.
I listened to him 2 years ago. I had a piece of crap 2013 BMW X5 for a long 8 months and it nearly bankrupted me. I sent Scotty a message and he said “ get the Lexus you already know what a piece of crap the BMW is”. In April 2019 I bought my 2013 Lexus ES350 with only 30,009 miles. Best car I’ve ever owned and I’m on #20 ! This month it’ll be 2 years since I bought it and haven’t sunk a dime into it except one TPM sensor. Now with 42,500 miles I’ll be keeping it until the wheels fall off !! Which will be never ! With such low mileage this car will last many many years!!! Scotty is a legend
That's the Toyota quality, when i first moved to the US more than a decade and half ago, i used to hear americans in my area making fun of latinos only using Japanese vehicles, mainly Hondas & Toyota, and that's bc overseas Toyota is been Huge for decades, their vehicles are bullet proof, they can travel through the harshest roads even in bad weather or terrain. Right now I'm trying to get a another car bc i want something much newer. Right now I drive a 98 Camry. i bought it used (dealership) 8 yrs ago and it had been trouble free ever since just regular maintenance, my wife used 2 have a Chevy Cavalier from the same year🤦🤦🤦🤦 what a nightmare.. part of the reason you almost never see that many american made cars overseas.....
Stephen DiBari Bet you were annoyed with many people saying "Get a Toyota" till you got the ES350,I've got a 2002 Yaris in 2008,still have it,best car i've ever purchased, still drives smooth as a nut today. Cheap as chips for parts and easy to work on,i see BMW's all the time....i laugh at them all the time, sorry, but not sorry (No offence to you). Service it as Scotty says,i did and my 100,000 miles/100k Yaris drives better than most 10yrs old cars, mine is19yrs old....still drives better than 10yrs olds with 100k.
Bought my mother a 2010 Lexus ES 350 with 36,000 miles back in 2018. Other than normal routine servicing has not cost a dime. Absolutely incredible vehicle.
Scotty certainly doesn't know everything. But in this case he's absolutely correct. However, remember, Scotty also says to have any car you're considering thoroughly checked out before making the deal.
@@Johnslist Ive owned Toyotas in the past and they are not perfect. They have their own problems and quality control issues. Scotty rather just bash on GM instead.
I'm a professional tech and those of us in my trade cringe at some of the bullshit he spews. Thats all it is, just bullshit to get clicks. About one in maybe 20 vids he accidently gets something right. Don't believe me? Feel free to ask a mechanic you trust what he thinks of Kilmer
When you speak the truth, it hurts. Scotty has helped the community, rather the world with cars. Love how some who don't know what a torque wrench is comment how he's bad etc.
@LifeRx Kilmer discussed the problems with garaging your car on his channel on June 18, 2019. He has also discussed the proper and improper ways to use a jack stand several times , as early as April 13, 2011. Its all on UA-cam (this took about 5 minutes ) .
@Scotty secretly loves Chryslers he says use what your car calls for, most modern cars that require mid grade or premium can still run on 87 octane they just don't have full engine power. He just said there's no point in using 91 or 93 octane if your car calls for 87.
@Scotty secretly loves Chryslers Why ive seen toyota camrys call for regular fuel and the lexus ES call for premium, when in fact they use the same engine
Wow what a great story! I love how it's a real life example of how Scotty Kilmer's videos help people. I just recently start watching them and have learned so much. This Lexus is incredible! Thanks for sharing

I've watched Scotty for a while now, I bought 2007 Lexus Rx 350 with 151,000 for $6800, I purchased because of Scotty as well, I'm in love with this vehicle so far, love your car.
The Lexus versions of the Camry are solid choices for used cars. Your son should look into headlight restore polish kits. My daughter used one on her car (Maguires I think) and it made a huge difference without having to take the headlights off the car.
Lexus make great vehicle's, and its good to see you happy with this car. I also listened to scotty's advice and bought a lexus , i was always aware how good lexus vehicles are and thought i would never be able to afford one, but the opportunity came along and we bought a lexus and we love it.
"Scotty Kilmer told us to buy this vehicle, and this happened." makes it sound like Scotty Kilmer gave you bad advice or you bought a lemon. I was expecting to hear a tale of woe.
Scotty is top-notch. On the existing headlight lenses, try Mothers Aluminum Mag Polish ($7 or $8 Walmart/Amazon). It's paste in a can. Use like a wax to make those lenses crystal clear. That stuff works its magic with 1 minute of effort.
Yes Scotty is. I told my son to try to polish his headlights, but he wanted new ones so he bought them. He has an appointment coming up at the body shop to get them installed. We'll be posting a video once it's done. Thanks for watching.
@@TinyIowa : keep the old headlights as 'spares' in case one of the new headlights gets cracked from flying rocks on the freeway. Or polish them up using that 'Mothers Mag Polish', then sell them on eBay.
@@TinyIowa Pick up some Meguiars Headlight Coating, couple dollars for the bottle. Spray it on the new headlights once a year to keep them from eventually looking like old Tupperware. Think I picked that tip up from Scotty.
Another pro tip: Use polishing compound/wax on a wool buffer and take down the tint adhesive/residue where the window tint used to be. Using very little goes a long way with very light passes across your window. You can also use it on the exterior windows and they will repel moisture for upto 3-4 months per polish and you will hardly use your windshield wipers!! I do the same thing every 6 months on my Genesis, and it saves me countless hours during the week washing bugs off.
Scotty told me a camry would probably out last me...so I went out and bought a new one. 15,000 miles, driven through snow and I love it! I hope that Lexus lasts many more miles for your family. Stay Safe and awesome!
Congrats Mom and Dad, What a wonderful well built car. It will last a longgggg time if it has good timely maintenance done, and driven with respect by a very trusty auto repair shop with all the "proper fluids and parts". One happy 16 year old❤🙏🌟😁
Have a 2006 is250 awd in crystal pearl white with 161k miles in nearly mint shape, it’s fully stock and still almost looks brand new with the chrome grilles that were put on it, I absolutely love this car even thought it’s the 204 hp 250. I’m not kidding when I say that very often I get people who think my car is a 2014-2015 model and they can’t believe it’s 15 years old because of the timeless design and the shape it’s in
That’s funny. I bought the same exact model in Nebraska on Scotty’s recommendation a few years ago, and I have about 180k miles on it now. Runs like new, I drove it all the way to Virginia and only had to change the oil.
ISwitched from buying a 2018 428i bmw, a 2002 Camaro and 2018 and ats Cadillac to a 2007 Lexus 350 is because of Scotty and I couldn’t be happier. Now I don’t have to buy turbo chargers or money pits. Scotty laugh *

@The car enthusiast - Vincent 😂 that's funny you think he'd think through that. Children especially teens only see the surface of material and not the intent or meaning behind it. Unless he's very mature. That's an awesome car nonetheless and a great gift to give as a parent. Perhaps to good. Hopefully he eared that shit.
@Keila Nuila ... this was our son's second car. The first one he bought with his own money (at 14 years old) that he saved from working for neighbors and from gift money (birthday's & Christmas etc). Kids in Iowa can legally drive at 14. He is a 4.0 student from k-10th grade (going to be a junior this year), he also works full time, of course he doesn't work full time when he's in school... but he still puts in 30-35 hrs a week. Since he's been around 4 years old, we've taught both of our children economics. Since he cannot invest into the market, he's been investing in silver since 4 years old too. He has Many ounces of silver. I'm not bragging about our children, I'm just letting you know how we've raised our children. Their grandparents always used to tell us... "they don't need to learn all this stuff when they are this young", but I told them, "bull crap! They need to know this stuff now because they way this world is getting. There is no silver spoon here, as we have to give them the biggest advantage we can and that's real education." Also my son was reading full books at 4 years old too. ..we have video proof on that... with ZERO Daycare. Again, it's all in the way you raise your children. When they're a baby, it's like having a bran new computer with nothing on it. What you do with it, how you decide to 'program it' (if you would consider that) is what you'll get out of it. Yes maybe they'll be like, 'well screw you... I'm going to do it my way,' but if you start them out doing and teaching them valuable knowledge, when they do decide to "grow up", they can always revert back to the foundation we set for them. The way we look at it... each year is a block to their foundation. If you have a piss poor foundation made for a house, it'll crumble. But if you build a strong foundation... like every year equals a new set of blocks laid... by the time they're a legal adult (18 years old), they'll have one hell of an 18 block foundation laid out... so if their house does crumble... they can Always Rebuild on that well built foundation. Good day, God bless and God speed.
@@colton8552 we took his advice and bought the car. The car is just as good as he said it was. Sorry to disappoint by it not blowing up within the 6k miles (now 7k) that we've had it!

I own the 2008 model and it has 122k miles on it. Not AWD just RWD. Lots of cars of this year have like 160k plus miles on it! 122k miles not bad and also I don’t drive it as my daily anymore. Now it’s more like my second hand little luxury sports sedan. I love it!
Love your humble comment. 👍 Good luck with your Lex! It was just too expensive when I was looking at the time. The IS model is very complete. A little tight, but reliability fixes that. Enjoy!

I didn't buy a lexus to say i own a lexus. i bought it for the quality and reliability. i'll probably keep mine till it reaches at least 250000 miles.
That was good advice to follow - very reliable vehicle. It's ridiculous how expensive trucks have gotten - especially that you can break the 6-figure mark for a new one too!
No we don't. Scotty was promoting electric cars in one of his videos so he can stay in America. We have enough shit heads over ere trying to get us to drive electric wind up toy cars. That actually cause more damage to the earth then petrol cars ever did.
They said their son wanted to replace them with new ones. He already replaced the back. Most young guys want new headlights that are modern LED’s which is what the parents said he wanted. Guys that are into cars are willing to spend the money on them and the new lights do make the car look much newer. Many of my friends, like most of them change out their headlights from halogen to LED: it’s just the trend these days. Especially when you score an inexpensive car like that. You can afford to spruce it up.
“Hi I’m Scotty Kilmer, and Today I am Going to tell you why you should NOT buy the Lexus iS 250!” 😂 Jk that is an Amazing Car! I have the ES 350 and man I love it!

You can go wrong with any brand product not bashing on Toyotas they are generally good cars but I have also seen a fair share of Toyota lemons too and not because of poor maintenance
You two are excellent parents for putting your son in a reliable car. My dad scoffed at me for buying one. Said something like a GM would be more practical/reliable.
As Scotty has pointed out people in the coldest places don't like LED headlights because they don't generate the heat that gets rid of the moisture in the headlight assembly.
Moisture in the headlight assembly? There shouldn't be any Moisture in the assembly at all no matter where you live. If it is the rubber seal on the back of the light want put back on when he bulb was replaced
Lexus drivers don't brag about our cars. Nothing to brag about. The car does all the talking. No matter the year these cars keep pushing. Plus they look really good. I'm to tall for a IS. I've owned a ES and I currently have a GS and I intend to upgrade to a LS 1 day. Mercedes and BMW will never get my money. Maybe on a Lease or Rent. But when it comes to ownership. Lexus here I come. I throw my money at these people. There cars are great.
...I had a few AUDIS yrs ago, but swithced to LEXUS bcs not only did the AUDI s stay in the shop for minor stupid stuff, the repair bills were a joke. I used to laugh when I saw the bill. I had an 09 GS350 but traded it for a 2011 LS460. If you get an LS, get rear wheel dr and don't get the air suspension. $1,000 a peice for each air shock when they go bad and you have to replace all 4. I only have 59K miles on mine, so the air suspension has no problems. Only other problem to look for on the LS is front control arm replacement. Pretty expensive.
Facts! I see a ton of Lexus vehicles on the East Coast People seem to cherish these rides where I am at. I personally think Lexus makes the best vehicles. Lexus also was the best selling luxury vehicles in the 90's.
@@350zlover2 ..yes , you absolutely can! But if you can find a rear wheel drive with standard suspension , you'll save quite a bit of money when buying one and much lower repair bills. If I was 16 and my parents got me this car I’d probably pass out of excitement the first day, I still love this car so much but I just traded it in for the newer 2015 is350.

It's better to buy new one's than go though the frustration of trying to make them look new again.

That’s a beautiful car, your son must be grateful for having parents like you.
Probably not😂 kids are ungrateful.
No he is... it's all in the way you raise your children.

They said their son wanted to replace them with new ones. He already replaced the back. Most young guys want new headlights that are modern LED’s which is what the parents said he wanted. Guys that are into cars are willing to spend the money on them and the new lights do make the car look much newer. ...I had a few AUDIS yrs ago, but swithced to LEXUS bcs not only did the AUDI s stay in the shop for minor stupid stuff, the repair bills were a joke.

All you gotta do is buff those headlights with rubbing compound to bring them back
Yeah, I told my son about that option, but my son wanted new ones like Scotty recommends. He now has an appointment set up at a body shop to get the new ones put in. Thanks again!
@@TinyIowa new ones are not good option. If you go OEM which i recommend they cost like $1000 for headlights only. Dont buy cheap headlights off eBay they are crap, no light output and beam all over the place.
@@TinyIowa better option to sand and buff them plus cover with some protective coating. Will cost under 100$ plus you get to have fun.
@@apesintanks162 he has already bought them... just under $600. We will do a full review on them once the car is out of the body shop. Thanks for watching!
@@TinyIowa I'm assuming he bought the VLAND headlights to match the VLAND taillights. I have them on my IS250. Those with all of my other mods and my car looks like a 2020 when its a 2006. Literally the best car you can own for $6K or so.
You know they love each other. They both talk over eachover ..LOL
Annoying to me somewhat.....but I can watch or move on.
Great choice. I have a 2010 that I’ve owned since 2014, got it with 85k and used to drive all around NJ for work and have 300k on it now. No complaints at all. I thought about getting a new one but honestly I love it.
Nice! When we picked this one up it had 216k on it, now it's at 242k. Still runs and drives beautifully! Thanks for watching 🙂
Those windows fit so well and tight, that too thick a tint will not stay on.
Thanks for watching. 🙂
