Hi Chris Redfield, you mean like someone telling me to say this or that and how high to jump? I was going to say something negative but as I wrote this I'm thinking , man, I'm good with that. Sort of reminds me of the old joke, where a man ask a lady, "would you sleep with me for a million bucks?" she says, "O.K", he then asks, "would you sleep with me for 20 bucks?", she looks at him and says, what kind of a girl do you think I am? he responds, "we already established that, now were negotiating price." I think I've worker harder for less. best wishes, kirk giordano plastering

Kirk, I have had the opposite problem, that is, the shear panels overlapped the mud sill and the foundation by about 1/4 inch. The inspector didn't like that and asked for Z flashing. I used the 1/2 size Z flashing to protect the edge of the panel. On top i used the weep screed. The work passed inspection. What I didn't like was that the weep screed hangs out in space with no support. My gut feeling is that this is not good. So my only other choice was to nail the Z flashing lower down to catch the edge which leaves a void just under the edge of the panel. Which do you think is worse? Leave the drip screed hanging? Or leave a void under the Z flashing below the panel? Obviously a specially designed weep screed would take care of it but I checked and the supplier wanted 18 bucks per length of screed since it was "custom."
Howdy Mate, if it were me I'd pay the cost of the special cut flashing, or you risk the mud sills swelling with moisture, this wet wood attracts bugs such as termites, the result could be a few years then having to rip all the old work out and redo again, certainly this will cost more than the 20 bucks for each stick of metal. I have learned the hard way, don't compromise when it comes to proper flashings. Cheers and have a happy new year my friend, Kirk giordano’s rendering any and all stucco repairs
Hi and thanks for your videos! You lapped one length of z flashing over top of the adjacent piece. Do you also seal or fasten that joint, or is the overlap enough to keep water out?
Howdy Pam depends on the length of over lap if your unsure apply some caulking on the bottom piece and attach the top piece over that. Peace, love, and harmony to all Sound Plastering tips for the DIY beginner’s and Plastering experts
I am not a Stucco installer and I know absolutely nothing about your trade. Sir, my question is about the backing paper that is in intimate contact with the sheeting of the wall. When ever I work on a house that has that type of paper we see a great deal of rot and the paper is always rippled and falling apart. I will say your material looks to be much thicker and of heavyweight. What is that material? In regard to your installation of the two flashings, I have never seen that either. Probably because most house's here are of raised wooden construction. Thank you in advance Sir.

should the z flashing be angled a little so water runs off rather than sitting on the flat of the z?
