I like this channel because Jody reviews watches that I could realistically obtain and he has a wrist close in size to mine. However, whenever one of these microbrands pops up over $800, I always think that if I had that kind of disposable cash, I'd get a CWC quartz Navy Diver. $1300 and I'd look at Longines, Ball, maybe that Willard prospex. So yeah, the name matters to me. I can't help but think for those that it dosn't are probably buying this brand as I would buy a Steeldive 1970. It's all relative I suppose, but those people are probably watching other channels. Keep it up Jody.
For such a nice movement it's a shame not to have a display caseback. I guess a bit trickier to maintain the 300M water resistance albeit very few would dive wearing it and certainly not to 300M!
Beads of rice is my favorite bracelet style. Also, I really love the orange on that dial. Orange is quickly creeping up on my favorite dial color, olive green
I appreciate the original design, and it seems like they are moving in the right direction. I have no issue at all with the branding. However, with such large indices, it seems as if a bit less text on the dial would create a cleaner look (e.g., maybe just the logo without the name).

Nice looking watch, and well done for being a bit unique looking. But I really would much rather the bezel be matte. Am I weird? Why does almost every new dive watch have glossy bezels these days?? I do believe they can do ceramic in matte too, no?
Hi, thanks for your question. Matte is not a problem, we have in our collection both solutions. In AQUAS we opted for SAPPHIRE bezel insert, and not ceramic. The reason is to have high quality with no standard colors like purple, yellow acid, deep green.
I like brands leaning into their regionality. I'm a bit over Anglophonizing everything, to be honest. The watches look great, but a bit rich for my wallet. Imagine you live in China where it cost you (just as an example) $50 to feed your family for an entire month, and in the US it will cost you $2K+ per month. That in my opinion is a vast difference, the same goes for the sale of watches, you’re comparing apples vs oranges in terms of economy. There is no way a Western brand can come anywhere close to matching the pricing of a Chinese factory brand. However, consumers only look at the dollar amount when they shop online and they don’t factor this in….its a shame because that’s how Western brands lose their value, due to perception they are overpricing, it’s really not true. In the end, if everyone thought the way you do, Chinese brands will grow and Western brands and businesses will collapse because they can’t compete against the Chinese (or India or wherever produces certain products cheaper)
@@GodIsInHisHeavena bit off topic, I m talking abt price difference. U r dealing with a global economic phenomenon and this topic is a never-ending debate. That is why all big firms includg Apple is contractg China manufacturers, even Jodi's Erebus too. But let's pull the brake, just enjoy watches reviews. Cheers.
Discount Doxa! Woo hoo!
I’m italian speaking. I’d have a problem with the price tag, sure, but you review chinese brands. Are you really getting challenged by Officine Tecniche? cmon
It’s a great looking watch and it really is but it’s climbing up the pole in price. I think they’d be better putting a Seiko movement in it and drastically dropping the cost. Let’s face it no one knows or asks “what movement you got in that watch mate?” I think it really would sell then. It’s got a fifty fathoms style especially the darker dial one and for me that’s great look. Thanks for he review Jodi.
This isn't a review, mate. He made it clear at the start it's paid content, not a review.
Sorry but I went straight to the link and I'm not buying it.
At least it's not named after the Greek god of darkness and shadows.
😆
6:30 I wish more watch manufacturers would go to the screw 🪛 in end links; especially when it comes to Dive ⌚⌚.
Im getting over the top Zelos design language vibes...kind of over thought out and more complicated visually, than it needs to be....
