Ah, Joe...our generation may be old but we can still rock!!!! 🎶🎸
If they only new🥰‼️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Love how Joe Walsh is always on Colbert. Let’s a little of the younger folk find his music. One of the greats.
I'm 18 and recently discovered Joe Walsh. He's genuinely fantastic. 🙂 May he live forever. Love "Rocky Mountain Way"; one of the best classic rock songs ever made.
Awkward phrasing Repo after Dark, it took me a second glance to make sense of your post, but them I'm kind of inebriated.... why else would I be posting on YT.
_"Let’s a little of the younger folk find his music.'_
No, poor choose of words... Let's *HOPE some of the* younger folk find his music *inspiring/relatable.*
Was that so hard... so few extra words.
AITA, yeah... sorry
He's definitely in the top 10 Chill & Groovy, Super Cool, Always Fun, Happy Nice Guy ROCKER of ALL TIME!! His MUSIC also has ALL those same qualities - & he's 1 of the best guitarists in R'n'R history. I'm glad he stopped the booze. I don't know if he would still be around if he hadn't. He WAS a party guy back when it was the cool thing to be, & in a way, that's partly why he is famous. I think he realized that he had become cool enough that he could STILL be just as cool WITHOUT the booze, & had seen many other Rockers die from party drinking constantly, & was smart enough to get out in time. He is a BIG PART of R'n'R history, & I thank the universe that he IS still HERE, & HEALTHY (& Seeminly very HAPPY too)!! Peace!!
It's gotta be such a blast for the band members to play a classic with the original artist who made it a classic.
It must be insane to jam with Joe period, especially because of The Eagles. I wish Henley wasn't such a jerk about royalties, he could have played Life in the Fast Lane.
All you gotta do is look at their faces.....they are very happily jacked up.
They we’re having a blast 👍
Joe Walsh has survived being Keith Moon's favorite American Bloke next to Alice Cooper , touring with The Eagles at the pinnacle of their career , has consumed more of everything that any mere mortal , and has lived to sing the song. Now that's Legendary . Top marks to the band , and the production crew (sound , lights , camera , and action).
Who would have thought he'd still be here in 2022 better than ever

This band is so amazing. Jon did a brilliant job at putting this band together and now under Louis, they're showing amazing range. Probably the single most talented group of musicians I've ever seen regularly on any TV show.
This performance is an excellent example of how they serve the song and feature artists, while still showing style and ability.
Louis, that was so freaking dirty man 🤘🧙♂️🤘!
You can tell every member of the band is sincerely psyched to be there! Their combined energy is amazing!
I miss Jon.... his clothes alone were worth the watch... so much charisma and showmanship on display every single nite. I think the band under Louis is great too. As time goes on they continue to evolve and develop a different personality than under Jon.
@@danusdragonfly6640 And you can see it in the guest artists as well, who relish the chance to perform with one amazing band. The chops, the feel, the energy.
@@xebio6 Yes absolutely! I really do love this band - they're excellent musicians and music seems to flow effortlessly from them. Their joy is authentic!
How do you take a song so well-known and breathe new life into it... not just a rendition but something unique yet true to the original?
It's complicated, yet Joe Walsh and the band sorted it all out together.
LOVED THIS PERFORMANCE!
I knew there was more Joe Walsh here! ROCK THE HOUSE, JOE!
Walsh must have performed this song 80,000 times at this stage. A genuine hard rock classic. Timeless.
This performance is probably different enough to stand out even for Joe himself
Heard the song on the radio 80,000 times😃
And EVERY SINGLE TIME he finds new and original ways to put his stamp on it. It's like, his style is not having a style that he's locked into. He always seems to perform for the pure joy of it. (I don't know how a guy like him survived the Eagles and their drama :P )
I was actually recently thinking/wondering about how many bands he's played this song with. It seems like he's always popping up playing a few hits with random bands.
not really as it often plays it different.
Loved the Eagles in concert a few years ago (R.I.P., Glenn Frey). Anything any one of those guys does -- together or alone -- is absolute magic!
This was THE MOST EPIC JAM YOU'VE HAD ON YOUR SHOW STEPHEN!!! The House band and Joe was on time!!! Loved it!!!
jumped on here to say that was best thing I've seen in long long time. Those two women are so fierce! Combination of soul, strings & rock n roll = HOT! I danced my tail off ;)
yes! More house band w special guest - its so friggin good! Late Show band is so talented and sexy AF. More music pls! thank u
I concur! 🤘
WHY U MAD
This was kind of unplanned. Ben Stiller was scheduled to appear but was late, So Joe filled in.. The actual show showed Ben Stiller so he must have been edited in later. We in the audience definitely got the better part of the deal, lol. This was freaking awesome live!
Guitar switches mid-song were flawless. Gotta love Joe.
Yes - perfect - love the man as well for about 50 years
Let me tell you -- just an old rocker here, recovering from insane dental surgery -- I heard you come on and I cast all the stress and bs off -- and was with you again -- alive and YOUNG -- thank you all!!!

@@joewalsh6633You really do inspire me! Seeing you on stage was the best thing for this old soul. Stay well and happy. ❤❤❤
Dental surgery, eh? I'm facing that, also. Any advice?
@@joewalsh6633 is this actually Joe? The real Joe walsh 👀🏴❤
That old tune never gets old.

Wow!!! Rock and roll never dies. It ages like fine wine.
Well said!!!!
He’s a classic. The music industry is going to really go down quickly when great artists like Joe are gone.
Back when I was tending bar this song was popular on the jukebox ,he made it and I made it we are survivors. lol. Love you joe. You’re looking good and your doing good .I watch this three times now. Lol lol lol
Louis Cato and The Late Show Band have really blossomed since Louis took the helm. No disrespect to Jon Batiste, but this new musical director has shot them past my previous late night band favourite - The Roots.
I'm a Roots fan too, but they are both distinctive in their reflection of the group's talents.
Agree, totally. Best late show band on tv imo.
wicked band , great stage and lighting, cool af man 🤙🎶
Joe Walsh was the first rock concert I ever went to, WASH D. C ca 1975
That's okay. To be honest, I prefer Joe on his own.
I just did a bong hit and I'm holding my lit bic lighter up high!
Louis Cato and the Late Show Band sounded great backing the great Joe Walsh. Might there be a tour in the works? I miss Jon Batiste and hope he and his better half are doing well.
Way to go Joe -Rocky Mountain Way !James Gang! Will be a great concert for Vets 👏💕

If you ever have the chance to ask Joe the story of when he came up with the lyrics to this song. It actually ended up costing him money before it became a hit! But, I’m so glad to see him still so enthusiastic about his music. Timeless. Brilliant. Pure Rock and Roll!
A lot of the goood hits do, across genres
Way out of the park performance by Joe Walsh and the Late Show band. Just marvelous!!!
Seen Joe a million times in concert. Still an underrated guitarist to this day in my opinion.
Me too... he was the 1 that brought the slide guitar into rock music with the James Gang ... Funk 49 is all I can say...
Well, he's not underrated among other guitarists. We know how good Joe is. Bit of trivia: Jimmy Page obtained his favorite Les Paul guitar from none other than Joe Walsh.
@@dandemaio5994 Ahem.......
Duane Allman ring a bell?
@@Tessmage_Tessera agreed. 👍🏼 I’m referring to music “fans” in general.
He's far from under rated, just a different generation.
I'm 63, and I've been playing guitar for about 6 years. This performance rocked so hard, not to mention the flawless Rick/Paul guitar switch, was ridiculously inspiring. They haven't come for my license to Rock yet!
Hey, thanks for explaining that. I'm not a musician and wondered what was up.
@@mandcbruce The Les Paul was running through the talk box. Which is that tube he sticks in his mouth while playing. He had to do that for the Solo, because (I'm guessing) the Rickenbacker was tuned to Open Tuning for playing Slide.
best version ever! I've been playing this song as loud as I can for decades. It truly deserved the comprehensive and talented late show band. pure joy. thank you!
Some of my earliest musical memories were trying to sing along with Mom and Dad's James Gang records. (Hey, ooh, what did I do...) Joe has always been a part of my musical soundscape, and he's never once allowed me to be bored with anything he's done. I know a lot of this arrangement must have come from Louis Cato, but still, there are so many simple nuances that are fresh to this performance. I have so much love for this guy as a musician. I am so glad his life overlapped with mine. 🙂
Louis must b on cloud nine....great song 💖🇺🇸🌹🦋
Extremely good production values for a talk show performance. Everyone truly looked like they were loving it. Impressed that Joe Walsh can still perform it flawlessly IMHO, at that age.
One of the best things about Joe is that no matter how old he gets, it won't matter to his voice... because his voice sounded like shit when he was young, too. No disrespect intended, mind you... I've been a big fan for 50 years. But he's like Ozzy Osbourne, in the sense that his voice has always been kind of harsh and grating. So it ages just fine.
One of my favourites songs for the last 50 years. What a great performance, he’s still got it 1000% what a great guitarist, and as others have said sadly underrated but he’s brilliant.
My grandfather...dead some 20 odd years...woke up for this one! 🥰🖤🎶 one of his favorite songs 🎵 ❤️ 😍

Joe Walsh IS the ultimate Rock man. He's been through the fire, and made it out. 💕💕💕💕
Thanks 'big time' Colbert. It doesn't get any better than this
Shocked the sh** out of my adult kids when they heard ol Granny-Jenny singing this, knowing all the words. LOL They had no idea I was an Original Rocker!
I understand that lol
Thank God for Joe Walsh ❤❤❤🎸🎸🎸Mr.Kato & the band are Epic !!!
Thank you Stephen thank you Joe Walsh what a wonderful thing to wake up to. Man, did I chair dance!!

I described you as , " a smartly wild and intelligent person " , back in the late 70's as I was pursuing a degree in BS Psychology. Your music, as well as that from the band Eagles, was and still is a part of me. Thank you very, very much, Joe Walsh.
Would have loved to see a "Funk 49" encore. this was great, and the band seemed to be super into it, fitting the horns in was a nice touch, Don't think i didn't notice the double shot glass as a slide either Mr. Walsh, also a nice touch.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

THAT IS A ROCK STAR.
The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get! 😎 Awesome to see JW's old amigo on keyboard Joe Vitale! 😎 And Louis Cato and the Late Show Band killed it! 👏👏
Props to Joe Vitale, who was on the original (The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get).
Great Album
Is that who the keyboard guy was?
EDIT: Indeed, it seems to be. Joe mostly gets hired to play drums, but is no slouch on piano or even flute.
".....Vitale was invited by his former Kent State classmate Joe Walsh to join Barnstorm, a new band being formed by Walsh in Colorado. The band recorded two albums together and Vitale and Walsh began a longtime partnership (incl. co-writing "Rocky Mountain Way")......."
Fantastic!!
Joes a badass!
I hope Louis Cato and The Late Show Band fully appreciate what an honor it was to play THAT song, with THAT guy!
That was awesome!

Don’t need no java this morning…all wired up on this!!!
To think this song is almost 50 yrs old! I remember it from my senior yr on HS!
No wonder why The Late Show is one of best shows in America!
Like most jazzer/sessionman types, Louis and the band can rock like crazy - even if they play it a bit closer to funk/R&B than a flat-out rock band would.
…and I’m here for it!!!
*This made me smile thank you.*
Vote for Joe
Joe Walsh is still a stud, still the gunslinger he was 50 years ago! The man is an immortal. 🎉
The luckiest audience in town.
The Godfather of Rock ! Nuff said !

Joe is still rocking and sounding great!!
Louis and the Band are the best in Late Night, also the audio quality of the Late Show music production is also the best in the business.
They blew the roof off the place! Thank you, keep on rockin'!!!
Damn, damn, damn…Joe Walsh and the late show band…damn, damn, damn!!!! 💥 🏔 🎶 🎸
Thank you Joe!
Taking nothing away from Jon Batiste but it really seems like the Late Show band has really upped their game. What a treat for the audience to hear concert quality music on the Late Show. The band has really come into their own.
Watching the band rock out to that classic was epic! Especially Louis Cato, who obviously loves to move! 🔥

Extraordinary. It’s like Joe is the chef and creates the perfect recipe of a song. Colbert’s band did a wonderful job of accompaniment. There’s only one Joe ❤️
I remember when this came out in '73 and it is STILL the GOAT! what ever that means.... ;-)

Thank you so much, Mr. Walsh!!!!
Great to see you still rocking.
P.S. all you Rickenbacher haters: just watch and learn, kids.
I had the chance, over a number of years, to be a Rick driver a couple of times...guess what? they are weird, iconoclastic, tough to figure out...yea, I hear you. But:
There's no equivalent in modern stuff.
Joe Walsh for President!!!
🇺🇲 2024 🇺🇲
Been a while since I failed to blow past a Late Show band performance, but Joe Walsh kept me until the end.
Not like Rocky Mountain Way was my era, it just reverberated for decades and clearly isn't finished.
Rock 'n Roll Gawd at 4074 years old, still crushing it _ok, subtract 4k - it's a little weird when someone you never met was always a part of your world_
Treasured every moment.
Joe is a National Treasure
At 70, this brings back some very fond memories of my Rocky Mountain highs!
They were so much FUN! From Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
One word;
Goosebumps ✌️
I got 'em , too .
Joes energy and this version, I came back to see it again, legendary
Just amazing...
The James Gang. Is...rock n roll..forever 🎸
The old coot still has it. Rock on, Joe!!
The band was having a lot of fun there
Sorry I missed this. Glad it was posted here. Talent from N. E. Ohio! Canton Ohio talent on keyboard!
