    Considering doing this during the winter. Blew up my 2003 CR250r a couple months ago when I got tossed off it when the throttle stuck wide open. I tore down an old '85 cr250 somewhat to part out years ago, but didn't split the cases. I have also rebuilt a few car and truck engines, but have no experience rebuilding a dirt bike engine. Guess I could try to rebuild mine for under a grand, or shell out a lot more and buy something like a CRF450RX.

    Love these CR 250 videos! Good luck with the hot rods crank. My buddy had a wrench rabbit kit put in his 03 cr and it had a terrible vibration afterwards. I tore it down and found the crank to be true and everything else installed properly. Honda crank took care of the vibration. I have the weight specs on both cranks if you're interested.

    Hi mate
    The super finishing doesnt increase power as such, it simply decreases friction in mating faces of the gears which results fewer transmission losses (hp, tq) You will find that they become stronger too so able to take more abuse
    Keep the vids coming bud 👍👍

  • @Crazyhero-zi6yt
    @Crazyhero-zi6yt 6 років тому

    I´d recomend using Wössner pistons, I´ve tested all of the popular ones, but Wössner forges ALL the pistons and they´re the lightest by far (about 20-30% lighter than Vertex). Trust my choice, I´ve tested a lot and rebuilt a lot of Engines!

    Salut Cameron ! Très bonne vidéo ! Excellent choix de piston, avant de le monter perce 2 petit trous devant pour bien huiler la barrette d échappement, c est un bon conseil pour la longévité de t on cylindre ! Bonne continuation est excellente journée à toi ! Verry Nice week-end for You bro !!! 👏👍👌😉😁💨💨💨💨💨💨💨

      vincent vini salut mec, je sais pas si il parle français, mais tu peux m'en dire plus sur ces trous dans le cylindre?

    • @Vini-rm2ss
      @Vini-rm2ss 6 років тому

      HadrienATF, salut, les deux petit trous qu il faut faire devant le piston serve à bien huiler la barrette d échappement du cylindre, idéal pour la longévité de ce dernier, ça évite les surchauffe et la casse de la barrette, ainsi qu un serrage, sur certaines machine comme mon tm 125 mx, le piston d origine et déjà percé ( c est un vertex réf: 13317) ce piston je le trouve uniquement sur le site pilote production... Si tu veut voir à quoi ça ressemble, je t invite à aller voir... Par contre les 2 petits trous devant le piston c est que pour les cylindre à barrettes, si tu as un cylindre à échappement booster ou échappement tonneau ça sert à rien.... J espère avoir éclairait t es lumière, si tu a un cylindre à barrettes et un piston qui n à pas les 2 petits trous, tu devrais les faires, tu verras ça marchera bcp mieux, ça chauffera bcp moins, t on haut moteur restera en meilleure santé bcp plus longtemps ! Excellente journée à toi... Si tu a d autre question... Je peut peut-être t aider.... 👍😉😁💨💨💨💨💨💨💨

  • @nigastylah
    @nigastylah 6 років тому

    Very nice build Cameron, good content!
    Are you refering to REM / isotropic finishing?
    I would "blue print" / tune the enginecases too to meet the transferports aswell, to improve flow and hp numbers if the cases are already apart. And give the cylinder a clean from factory flaws / casting marks.... :)
    In my advice I wouldn't use those main bearings for the crank, I've heard a lot of horror stories on them I would go OEM on that. Also I would recommend a different piston, I would go for Wiseco.
    But hey other than that, sweet build man!

    Hey man, you have any tips on why my spark plug keeps fouling almost instantly after i change it? Ive checked the following:
    - Its not running too rich / lean
    - Its not any oil / gas on it, its carbon and overall just black on the spark plug
    - I also just put a new airfilter like 30mins ride time ago
    - I checked spark hat/ coil
    I have no idea whats causing it to foul so often! Help would be apprecieated :) Also great video, keep it up!
    Btw the bike is a Husqvarna SM 125 (2007) 2 stroke

      New carb, it's not what you want to hear but get a carb that was off a running bike, put the stock jets into it and give it a go. Double check your mix ratios after that then ride your bike properly and on the pipe, do not just idle it up and down the driveway testing it.

    • @benny8992
      @benny8992 6 років тому

      well rn im happy i didnt do as you said and buy a new carburator.. i was just about to give up and buy one. But turns out i fixed it just by removing the carb, tophead, cylinder and piston and changing all the gaskets, cleaning the cylinder and top head and disassembling carb and cleaning it. Now ive ridden for about 2 hours and so far its working good again. But thanks for the help anyways all you :)!

    You have inspired me to build a dirt bike. There are only 3 problems. 1. Money, I am 14 and don’t have the money to build one and I am not asking my parents. 2. They are on the fence about letting me buy a dirt bike. 3. I don’t have any experience working on engines that shift or suspension or dirt bikes in general.
