Really nice motor build. I actually like the original type bolts from Honda more, even use them in KTM's 😂 What template engine is this in the first few seconds of the video ?
Kincade you are an absolute legend! Your build/revival series gave me the motivation to start reviving my 1993 yz250. My dad got it for me when I was a kid and it was absolutely ragged out, like rear fender zip tied on ragged out. A few years ago my grandfather rebuilt the engine for me and one day while riding it, it bogged out and never started back. I determined that it wasn't getting spark and all of the 30 year old electronics had been shot. I've replaced the ignition coil, stator, and spark plug and still no spark, I'm putting on a new CDI box today and hoping for the best. Once I get it running I'm hoping to get a few hours on it before I start the build. I found a forum linking a 1993 Damon Bradshaw replica graphics kit as well as the old factory frame color code and I also have a full UFO plastics kit lined up. The guy who had it before me already threw on a full Pro Circuit exhaust and forks as well as Pro Taper bars but it's probably going to need the forks rebuilt and the linkages/bearings serviced as well as the silencer repacked before I take it to the track. Thanks for docuumenting all of your work, I've been learning everything I need to get this bike revived!
Good looking engine. Looking forward to dyno mine once it’s finished, hopefully break into the 55hp+ club. That’s all I can expect while retaining a mx fitted expansion chamber.
I used a phathead cylinder head on my 2007 CR134 many years ago and could not get it to seal properly and destroyed a couple pistons from coolant getting into the cylinder. Went back to a standard head and no more issues. Ahh, I miss that bike.
Good job making it pretty. Now those studs and sleeves need Greece or anti seize to keep them from sticking next time. The paper case gaskets need to be coated with grease to keep them from sticking. Vertex pistions are much less likely to stick than the wisco. Squish , thats pistion to head clearance should always be checked especially when using aftermarket parts. Last the smart carb. Well set it rich out of the box and work your self leaner as you go . They are still a carburetor and no Matter who tells you they are completely self-adjusting for altitude and temperature they are not
Definitely agree on the last part big time. Too bad they don't make simple closed loop EFI systems with a screw that can adjust in increments of 250 feet of elevation per click with an arrow pointing to a dial between 0K and 8K. There you go, unless you're riding in the depths of hell or hill climbing Everest you're covered. No more guess work and testing required. People whine about EFI being complicated and impossible to work on. Those same people are working on their carb AT LEAST once every season to keep it running right.
I would love to know how much is the price of that build, I have a 2004 sitting in my storage room inside the house still looks brand new. It’s amazing how well bikes can be preserved when you keep them out of the elements. The clutch still feels brand new 20yrs later😱

I don't think so... I put one behind the reeds, and then 2 between the reed cage and intake manifold. Those ones came with the VForce reeds and the instructions said they were to be used as spacers since the VForce sits up a little bit. What do you think is incorrect?
awesome Build Really but u gotta use some kind of lubricant anythings better than nothin the chances of it tankin are slim to none but it will prolong the life of the motor
All is a great master piece except the black color on the engine.. Black attack more Sunlight heat this keeps the engine hotter. Silver is the way to go. Have you ever touch a black color car and a silver one under the Sun? Mayor difference of heat retention. Try it!

The new STIC Super X2 carb I installed is about as potent as you can make that 250. It's nearly impossible to imagine until you experience it. It's more like you had the best tuner both port for low end and top end. Which they can't do, BTW. There doesn't need to be any engine mods, nor race gas. Tho. you can run 93 pump on a 125 98 octane spec head...no detonation issues. I previously ran the STIC metering block. As potent as it is, it was only part of the total design of the new cast carb. On my 200SX I run a Keihin 200 main and an 80 pilot jet. These are huge compared to stock 175/45 jets. The pilot circuit actually reverses flow above the idle range and introduces air/fuel vapor just above the main. Vapor is sourced from the carb bell and venturi via passages. I use a G2 throttle cam #400(mud conditions) just so I can control the mayhem.
@@KincadePavich the one that you used will get flimsy after a couple of hours of use the original one will last years and years, when I knew that they had new shifters I went running and I bought one for myself and threw the tusk one that I had to the trash.
I thought long and hard about the basket with the caliber of this build; I know the wear is visible, but it's practically nonexistent in reality. You can certainly see where the plates have rubbed, but the wear is so minimal it can barely catch a fingernail. I don't see this basket negatively affecting clutch performance. If I decide otherwise once we ride it, I'll get a new basket for it.
@@KincadePavich oh man I am just teasing I’ve definitely seen much worse. The bike will be a power house and I’m sure that basket will be un noticed by most riders. I checked all the comments to see if anyone else caught it and they didn’t and honestly I would not have either if i didn’t JUST put a full Hinson in my 450.
There is a gasket behind the reed cage to cylinder as well. Just hard to see in the vid! And double gasket was supplied by VForce for clearance. Thanks man!

Not so much for order anymore, I've done enough engines. For torque specs, yes.
