I feel like Danielle sometimes over traumatizes things and worries too heavily about things that aren’t that big of a deal. They are all going to learn and grow at their own pace. If some of them are a little bit behind or aren’t quite at the level they should be then the school provides plenty of resources to help those specific children out. And they are only in 3rd grade where they still review a lot of things that are learned in 1st and 2nd grade. They will be fine!

When I was in third grade I met my teacher on the first day of school. She was new and an emergency hire for the school and we just got there without knowing a thing about her and adapted. She was an incredible person and 3rd grade was so much fun. This was back in 2007. I loved school and loved to read, but math was always harder for me until around 7th grade. Every child is different and though I was not a multiple, I did have a sister who was a grade below me who I was compared to mercilessly… and another sister who was in the “gifted” program since 2nd grade so it was hard to just be me and not worry about my grades. The overprotectiveness of meeting the teachers before school just isolates these girls from the other kids (I doubt they get that opportunity) and separating them is probably for the better- they won’t be able to be together forever and need to develop their individual skills and personalities without the influence of the others around 24/7!

I was diagnosed with Dyscalculia, Mild ADHD, and Mild OCD in the 1st grade and I got specialists right away thanks to my local child psychologist Dr. Bob Bell in Texarkana, Texas giving a direct order on documents to my stubborn head principal that took my previous principal’s place. Thank God I went to elementary school in the early to mid 2000’s and graduated in 2006 in 4th grade in elementary school and 2014 in high school

I was diagnosed in 1st grade with Dyscalculia too! When it comes to learning disabilities early intervention is key. Getting my IEP and documents set up was easy because I went to a private elementary school. And I too attended elementary school in the early to mid 2000s. If I didn't have my IEP in play that early on I really would had suffered.

Exactly. That is why she says school is boring. She is still bored. She needs extra curricular activities that help her grow. There are lots of things out there they could take her to. For example, my children went to the Conservatory of the Arts, music classes, dance, gymnastics, basketball clinics and summer camp; there are a lot of summer camps that teach different things as well, like how to ride horses, take care of your horse, things like that.

Education isn't a finish line. It's a process. And the goal is to create life long learners. Knowing that, teachers give students tools that they can use to be successful and teach them how to use them.. That includes reading. Some kids will become readers through phonics. When COVID came the parents couldn’t homeschool 2 different grades for the quints so she didn’t finish the class she was in. And then the quint’s school reopened before public schools did she they sent them there and Riley essentially repeated the same year so she was back to being in the same grade as the others

Exactly. Lots of drama about nothing. The schools have school buses to bring you back and forth to school. Once you are in the older grades, the school bus takes you to your games, whatever sport you play. Lots of things in these posts that are real.
