R.I.P. Jeff Beck
Okay. Just realized that this was just posted. So all you people sitting on gems like this need to get them out here. I'm 67. I'm not going to live forever
Yes! Time is waiting in the wings.
Jeff Beck arrived at the Pearly Gates he was greeted by Mick Ronson who said "Jeff there are no effects pedals in heaven"... Jeff replied "it's okay mate we never DID need them-
Where do we plug in"
Its insane that its been 30 YEARS Ronno gone too soon.
Michael Picasso ❤
Sounds like you’re not a pedals fan but Beck used them a *lot* 🤷🏽♂️
The best version of the Jean Genie ever
Beck, Ronson, Bowie. Rest in peace. Fantastic musicians. Forever. ❤️💖♥️
Two of those three people died on January 11th!
And don’t forget, Trevor Bolder no longer with us either.
TITANS OF ROCK
They're all dead. Not so long ago, they were all alive.
@@alukuhito In his songs. Forever. ♥️❤️💗💓
That's nice, Mick Ronson and Jeff Back dancing around together behind Bowie. Amazing energy. What a time it was!
Beck had the talent to walk out and make a great song even better!
Wow, I've never seen Jeff Beck and David Bowie together. Too cool, and with the great Mick Ronson on guitar as well.
As good as Ronson was he had nothing on beck
One of the few joys of being older now is having the pleasure of growing up and seeing and listening to all these greats over the years. Great concerts, great memories and music that never dies! RIP boys and see you in rock heaven one day!
Yes,yes,yea, absolutely Bowie.
Well said...It was Tom Petty (who speaks for people like us) who said, "Every generation thinks the music of their era is the best...in my case it happens to be true."
Tom Petty was absolutely right!
I know it sounds hack but the 70a was truly the most creative era of music because it brought so many elements together in that era. By that I mean, these artists were the products of people that lived through war and then it all exploded from Elvis onward and by the time the 70s were nearing their end...the artists were so experienced in both life and talent, that music reached an incredible crescendo. Punk signalled the next era and things changed but it was a fantastic point in time.
Amen❤️🔥
Jeff and Ronson playing together must have been amazing. Thanks!
Ronson sure held his own with Beck .I saw them both in the 60s and early 70s and what can I say ? All my hero's are going to heaven.
@@stephenhensley5631 2 greats on one stage with DB

Bowie, Ronson, Beck Trio Infernale!!!!
I love how Bowie instantly picks up on the Howlin’ Wolf vibe Beck brought to this.
Yes indeed, an interesting and astute observation, although I also hear Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker ('I'm a man') undertones. Certainly a memorable performance for many, many reasons...
Seriously? The Howlin' Wolf vibe was in this song right from when Bowie wrote it. He said he'd ripped off Howlin' for the riff and Lou Reed for the vocal style.
The riff was also used in a song by The Sweet called Blockbuster which was released around the same time as The Jean Genie.
Great call on Wolf.
@@CB-xr1eg Yes indeed, have to agree about the 'vibe'. There's an interview with Mick Ronson somewhere on UA-cam from the Hammersmith Odeon before he passed (late 90's, maybe) where he referenced Muddy Waters' 'I'm a man' as the influence, at least for the guitar riff. With due respect to any of the Blues' legends, it can get hard to make the distinction, sometimes, with that sound phrasing, unless you're a real knowledgeable fan of the genre (I, myself, am not), and there are a lot of variations and versions (Bo Diddley), and different titles (Willie Dixon's ' Hoochie Coochie Man comes to mind) recorded. Have to think both Bowie and Ronson were keenly aware of, and influenced by the Yardbirds, who recorded 'I'm a man', and especially Beck, before they themselves 'hit it big', a few years later. Maybe the Jean Genie riff was just them attempting to channel an old song through the filter of Ziggy Stardust, and Ronson's Custom and Marshall Major. Maybe just another example of "everything old is new again". Or 'ripped off', depending on how you look at it. I suppose Bowie and Ronson's appeal struck a different audience, as maybe with The Sweet, yet I think it's still evidence of how much American Blues and R&B may have affected the next generation in the U.K., consciously or otherwise. Certainly an iconic groove, and not one soon forgotten, whether by Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, The Beatles, Yardbirds or Bowie, methinks. The ongoing 'argument' in this house is who's take on it is 'the best'. Depends which generation you ask, I suppose, although there's no argument about whose make up and costumes get the highest marks, for better or worse... Hope the next generations don't lose sight of the relative historical and musical value of any or all of it...Thanks for the interesting comments.
Oh yeah, hadn't realized Howlin' Wolf was dead and rotting until you mentioned it 👍
Bowie cheeky adlib of Love Me Do. Wrote Fame with Lennon a few years later. RIP to all of these guys.
I was at this concert - it was the one where Bowie famously retired Ziggy and the Spiders - it was amazing - I was third row back in the circle with my girlfriend - Lulu sat just behind and Tony Curtis just a few seats away - Angie Bowie did a dance routine for some of the numbers right at the front of the circle - I never went to another Bowie concert because I always wanted to remember him at this one - still bought all of his records though - Beck was stunning - better than he sounds on this recording
Wow
Génial ! 1973 une année charnière pour le rock .
You're so lucky. I would have absolutely lost my mind at a concert like this, it's just so insanely good
@@HappyKat-wc4ld it was an added concert at the end of his tour - also saw him at Earls Court which was where the original show was in the same year - the tickets for Hammersmith were all sold at the venue and we queued from five in the morning on the day they went on sale to get good tickets but even then there were hundreds of people in front of us but I think everyone must have bought stalls tickets because our tickets were just amazing in the circle - fantastic night - great memories
SO MANY LEGENDS On This Stage! R.I.P. David, Jeff & Mick! Jammin' in HEAVEN Tonight!
I've seen clips from this show but had no idea Jeff Beck made an appearance. He seemed to be having a great time.
Jeff rarely sang....... but his guitar did all the talkin'.... RIP to you both....... THANKFULLY..... we can still listen to your music..... RESPECT!
Jeff Beck is not dead...
FAB :) Everything & more........Beck/Ronson/Bowie....Love Me Do................................
That era of Bowie was lightning in the bottle. Good lord⚡⚡⚡
And that ripple is throw up in a bottle 🤣
Bowie was never this muscular on stage again, but that was the genius of the man - he left the eras on a high - Scary Monsters to wrap up the '70s, and BlackStar to wrap up everything.
Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder, David Bowie and Jeff Beck are jammin' now.
What a hoot, the prince of glam rock with two of the greatest guitar slingers that ever lived.......God bless these treasured pieces in time. Cheers Milan.
This is a super jam, my god they are great 😎🙏
Man I dig the Ronson era Bowie. Jeff adding even more magic to this great band. Too cool
What a monster jam!!! Mr. Beck you could do anything you wanted to us through your hands and your guitar! Rest In Peace, I miss you 😪
💔
Love how towards the end of the tune (starts at 6:45) Mick Ronson honors his friend (Jeff Beck) by throwing in the Yardbirds "Over Under Sideways Down" riff to blend with Jeff's wild tuner dives... nice.
Simply amazing. Bowie with his best persona for me. And givng us a bonus including a bit of Love me Do by The Beatles. The duel between Beck and Ronson is sheer perfection.
Love the way Ronson pushes Beck up to the front to get him to jam 😁
Awesome !
Beck was Mick's idol. Mick would never try and steal the spotlight when a special guest was playing with the band.
I have watched this over and over again. This is truly a vicious guitar showdown. RIP Jeff Beck.
i have to agree... for a guest appearance, Jeff certainly laid down some sweet slide playing too
ME TOO !!
Yes! Mick & Jeff are having a Guitar duel. Love how Mick moves across stage. Rapid fire!
@@KittyGrizGriz Mick was like, I love ya bro, but you're killing me over here.😅
@@KittyGrizGrizdude Jeff would eat him alive any day
ABSOLUTE pure talent from everyone on that stage that night. The cream rises to the top and this is a perfect example of that. So sad that Jeff Beck was lost so quickly to a quirky ailment. I never had any of the basic childhood sicknesses like mumps or measles or chickenpox but I got bacterial meningitis at five years old and lost significant hearing but survived. To lose Jeff to that just sucks. RIP Jeff you are and always will be one the the best. You will be remembered 100 years from now right up there with all the rest of the best.
Nothing today could touch this line up of ACE musicians
Try Band Maid...
I wish I'd been at this gig! Three of my favourite musicians together!
Wow why hasn’t this been published until now??? Great stuff from 1973 !
Never before heard this rendition. JB does it justice.
Beck n Ronson sounded in phase with eachother at the end, that was absolutely incredible! What a performance all round. I was around minus 5 at the time. What a time not to be born.
For us who have been around for awhile we saw the finest music EVER made during the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, at the height of music, much of it influenced greatly by the masters of the blues scene. No one can match it today, even though I try to stay current and I continue to search for high quality performers in todays world.
The only thing they can do is erase our memory with their own sounds. More power to them if it makes the world a better place to live! It's like a bunch of music gods came down all at once, changed the world back then through their art and are now leaving to go fight other battles in other worlds to make beauty in life's condition. Bowie, Beck and the many others are those spirits and now David Crosby who just left a few days ago.
It's been an absolute pleasure to be alive at the same time with these folks, to actually have seen some of them perform, to have met some of them has been my greatest joy in this life. A life well lived is my poetry. I hope the new generations can find the same joy and purpose. Keep on fk'n rock'n people and carry it well, carry on! Never forget!
Omg! What a performance 😎🔥🎶
RIP everyone on stage but woody and Mike Garrison. Great find!
Priceless! Legendary Jeff Beck Probably accomplished More Music on Guitar the last 55 years than any other Artist! He helped pioneer or amplify important technical innovations on his instrument. He elaborated the use of distortion and feedback effects, He went from Blues to Rock to Jazz to Electronic Swing & back too Rock
He didn’t reinvent himself the way Beck did but Van Halen was the last guitar player to change the game.
Gave us the “Brown Sound” plus popularized tapping and hot rodding guitars. Before he came along, the idea of things like putting a humbucker in a Strat didn’t exist.
Influenced generations of players and owned the rock scene from late 70’s till mid/late 80’s
@@cirenosnor5768 Jeff definitely made his mark in History , Jimi redefined took everything a bit further, He even used a razor blade & sliced his Marshall speakers for more distortion, EVH Revolutionized The Guitar took it outta stratosphere
Bowie....with...Ronson and Beck.....Totally Awesome
Its easy to forget that David Bowie could write and perform a timeless , raw, and explosive rock song like he was chewing gum. And also mastermind the greatest studio productions ever recorded.
Also a very good guitar player, but not featured here..
Fantastic Ronson, Beck and Bowie playing harmonica!
And Glamour Rock as Lennon have said: “it’s just Rock n’ roll with lipstick!”
Never knew Bowie and Beck ever performed together. And I call myself a fan
I bet lulu likes this.

Oh God they are gone but I will watch this till I die !
They all understand each other, Bowie, Beck, Ronson, Page, Lennon, Berry, Taylor, Richards, Bolan, Blackmore and the list goes on and on from that era, that is raw cosmic and sonic energy that flowed just like water and it needs to flow like that again with upcoming artists! We are in dire need of another musical revolution! RIP DAVID BOWIE, MICK RONSON and JEFF BECK! THANK YOU!!!
I agree but sadly doubt we’ll ever see such kind of musical revolution again
The reasons why we won't see it's like again are many. Enough for several books, at least.
Put briefly, it was a _transistorized_ culture - free from the constraints of vacuum tubes, and before all the computers got in the way. It was also immediately following *the psychedelic era* - which (thanks to perpetual nostalgia) can't possibly be A NEW THING ever again. No chance whatsoever, thanks to The Internet being (in some aspects) even weirder than the 1960s ever were, but also utterly mundane.
Digital killed the Analog star💀

Today's music is absolutely awful. No melodies no thought no nothing. It hurts my ears, and it's not because I'm getting older, if it deserved praise I would give it.😥😢😖😱
Jeff Beck could do anything he wanted with the guitar
About 50 years only. Much Thanks for this vid. Seems to lighten what was so a big jolt not long ago. We miss you Jeff, David, Mick and everyone who brought light to many by the Magic of Music. We've been blessed folks. Rock On 🎸.
Just a few days before the passing of Jeff, I was talking to my brother about how fortunate we are to STILL have the Clapton, Page, Beck trifecta going and after all of these years too!! These three giants have held the INFLUENCE title for decades.. Pretty much, you can check out any rock guitarists interview going as far back as 1971 and you will definitely find the “Clapton, Page, Beck” trifecta as major influences!! Rest easy Mr Beck, Mr Bowie, Ronson too. ❤️🙏. ( Sorry for my grammar and wording, I’m sure it’s all over the place on here. )
You said it very well.
Don’t be sorry for your kind words. Your point was made just fine.
And then there were two…
Jeff lived a pretty clean lifestyle compared to the other ‘birds. In fact by rock god standards, he was a Boy Scout. Wouldn’t have figured him the first to go.
Saw him at the Jazzfest 2010,incredible
1:05 Ooh ooh ooh yeah. Listen to Bowie’s voice switch registers and technique. Such a great baritone. One of the best rock baritones, IMO.

@@vangroover1903 do you mean David is mediocre, bad? I dont know much of that two bands you said,
@@thestrangepasenger Not Bowie, no. He changed his stage name to Bowie because one of The Monkees was named David Jones, and they got big before he did. It was mostly just a dumb joke.
@@vangroover1903the Monkees could sing and play instruments also, not just actors.

Fucking amazing! Beck, Bowie and Ronson. How this never made it into the final edit of the official film is beyond me. The only thing I can think of is possible copyright issues when Bowie performs a segment of 'Love Me Do' by the Beatles.
