It’s cool to bring the mower back to life!! Something to mention is Never blow the grass on the road!! I used to ride motorcycles and you would not believe how Dangerous it is when you all of a sudden come up on cut grass on the road!! It’s like hitting an Ice Patch! Very very Dangerous!! Also if something God for bid happens like that….. the bike rider can Sew you or their bike insurance will and it won’t be cheap! Just thought I would mention that so you don’t have any problems!

I remember on a driving test, the only thing that is allowed to be dropped on public roads as feathers.
That was in California and that may be legal because poultry trucks haul birds and feathers may fly all over the road.

Even if you get a couple grand tied up in it for parts, it will still be well worth it, considering the price of lawn and garden equipment these days. Plus you don't have all the electronic complexity associated with the new stuff either. That mower will run for years with a minimal amount of maintenance, since it's built like a tank! During the mid 90's I had a Steiner dealership. I went to all of their schools, had all of the manuals, special tools... and we sold a lot of these machines. For you to have found such a low hour machine with the Kubota engine is a rare find! That era of machine from the factory used a very high grade of hydraulic oil, that was dyed blue. They would void the warranty if it did not have that oil in it, because of air cavitation in the system cause by inferior oils. Air bubbles in the oil, under pressure will damage the pump, and the drive motors under extreme conditions. The whining that you are hearing from the pump, is probably due to this. The whine may go away if you were to use this oil.... but if you keep fresh filters on it, you might be okay. Congrats on your find, congrats on your hard work... your determination on getting your Steiner back in shape is truly inspiring my friend! God Bless!

Thank you! Check out the end of my previous video on this machine it’s more of like a clicking spring sound and it sounds like it’s coming from the steering valve I took everything apart and it looks perfect inside the pump and steering valve it doesn’t seem to be hurting anything but I’m kinda baffled what’s causing the sound the wind sound is normal and it really doesn’t make a loud whine sound. It makes one just like a regular lawnmower or anything would make but anyway thanks for watching the video

This is amazing, why would anyone junk a Steiner tractor? They are not cheap to begin with, and they are incredibly capable. You certainly got lucky, enjoy it.

You can add load balancing springs to the front between the grill and the deck for extra front axle weight. Or take off the suitcase weights to help balance it out. AT101 tires help too, and 3" spacers for side hill stability. Duals make it not so maneuverable.
I use a BX39 belt, the notches prevent belt cracking due to running over the belt tensioner.

That is an amazing piece of machinery that you got. I was thinking expanded metal for a belt guard on the mower deck so you can monitor the belts and know when to clean it out.

Really awesome follow up video. Your ability to make the parts that you cannot find or has you were taking the unit apart to repair and didn't want to wait on ordering them is astounding. Very much self reliance. Looking forward to the next video on the complete restore.
