    I know this is an older video but I just picked up an SB3000. I have the klipsch sevens and the SB3000 hooked up to my 77 inch C2 in my smaller bedroom. I played Aquaman and I was amazed at the bass it put out! Still playing with the settings, definitely impressed so far!!

    I just recently purchased dual SVS SB3000 subs, mainly to eliminate the nulls, etc. that you get with only one sub. I couldn't be happier. I love these subs! My main interest is music and they just excel. Unlike your experience, my home theatre experience with the dual SB3000s leaves me wanting nothing more. They just rock! Maybe it's because I'm using dual and they have been calibrated for my room.

      Very possibly so. I think I just prefer Dual Ported for my home theater. It’s an entirely new experience.

      Youthman Makes sense to me. Everything I've heard about PB is that they really excel for home theatre (of course, not to imply that they are a slouch for music! 🤣). Plus, your home theatre is bigger than my living room and the extra oomph of the PB is most likely very warranted! 🤗
      Thanks again!

    I upgraded from the SB-2000 to the SB-3000 and man, the additional output hits hard. For a $999 sealed sub it performs very well. I would have loved to have gotten the PB-3000, but my wife vetoed it as it was too big for our living room. Even so, I can def crank it up and it shakes my living room. I didn’t hear any distortion during movies that I would have gotten with the SB2000. Great review and video!

      @Sly foxxx For me it was a pretty big difference. The 2000 is a great sub, but I definitely felt the additional output immediately with the 3000. My sub is also located in a fairly open living room, so if you have the 2000 in a smaller room you may be just fine with the 2000.

    I'm a diehard sealed sub guy, nothing like the punch of a sealed sub and not just for music. I have a medium size theater room but I don't want subs as big as furniture and these SB3000's are the perfect size to put two of them anywhere in the room. I agree than ported subs go lower but movies are more than just rumbles and explosions. IMO.

    • @HomeCinemaJunkie
      @HomeCinemaJunkie 4 роки тому +1

      +1. I also have small room, and I mostly listen to music and response is the most important factor for me. A ported sub would destroy my room and not be as good for music imo.

      Same here. Sb 3000, maybe even sb4000, are wife friendly in the living room, and they are much better for music and still awesome for movies. I got a 4x5m soundzone room, and big subs will just make annoying rumble, not good solid punches.

    I’m confused by you setting the low pass filter in the sub to 80hz. I was under the impression that you should always let your av or processor handle that. It even says in the SVS app to keep the low pass filter in the off position when using a av receiver.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  3 роки тому +1

      You are correct. This is an older video. Typically you do not want to use the crossover in your AVR and also in your sub. Now I set the crossovers in my processor and either turn the sub crossover all the way up or use the LFE setting or input on the sub to bypass the sub’s crossover.

    Nice review bro. Please I'm in trouble and I need your advice.
    Should I place my subwoofer on an air pillow or air seating similar to air seats use during summer on beaches?
    Neighbour below girlfriend's floor banged on flat door recently screaming that everything in hers was vibrating terrifying her child. The svs soundpath isolation feet on the sb3k obviously failed to stop sound penetrating foor. I was surprised because subwoofer itself wasn't even trembling. I do not doubt neighbour because the entire medium size livingroo was extremely pressurised from the music.
    Unlike previous year Christmas I forgot this time to add a piece of antivibration mat underneath as an addition to the svs isolation feet. This neighbour didn't complain that time then.
    Air seat or not? Any suggestion? Thanks in advance

    However there is a problem, but more of a catch, with the SR8012. Regions or countries that uses 110-120V AC current will have the SR8012 named as AV Surround *RECEIVER*. However in 230-240V AC regions, it WILL be named AV Surround *AMPLIFIER*. The receiver has an AM+FM antenna input, but for the amplifier, it does not contain. I hope you see this soon as this may escalate to a big issue

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  5 років тому

      I’m not sure how this is a big issue as I didn’t even mention the AM/FM capabilities of the unit as most people in home theater likely are not listening to the radio on their receiver, rather high quality CD’s, SACD, Blu-ray concerts etc.

    • @hammer627

      Speaker placement is everything. Your sound equipment is everything. Sound calibration is everything. Room size is everything. It's your house!!! try everything!!!!! Don't know what size sub you have but, the crawl test is ur best bet. If you can place the sub in the spot where u usually sit then put it there. From that point crawl around the room until you find a spot where the bass sounds the best. After that place ur sub in that spot. And as for ur main speakers try playing some movies with a lot of dialog ( people talking and such). Move the speakers toed in and spread them or bring them closer together until it sounds like the sound is coming from the center channel. OOOPs MY bad....Make sure you are in stereo when you try this with your main speaker though! I hope this helps!!!

Having had both if you owned the pb13's would you think spending the money to go to the 16's is worth it or is the cost more than the sound upgrade provided. Would you be happier putting that money elsewhere in the system and keep the 13's in this hypothetical or do you just have to go to the 16,s cus the sound is just so much more happy

      It's ok to mix brands/speakers. However by mixing different brands and such you may experience phase/timing issues amongst them. All speakers do not always produce sound waves at thee exact same time . In other words you may experience sound lag between the different brand name groups. The best thing in my opinion is to try the speakers out for ur self and see if ur receiver can help calibrate the timing of all of ur speakers for maximum performance. What do you mean your set the volume on your AVR at 0? Reference level?

    • @kevinweithers1223
      @kevinweithers1223 5 років тому

      He is referring to the subwoofer trim level which you set in your AVR.

    • @kevinweithers1223
      @kevinweithers1223 5 років тому +1

      Also, a trim setting of 0 is ideal because your AVR is not applying any boost or cut to the subwoofer signal level. Closer to zero is better but a negative number is also fine. Try not to do a positive number since applying a boost to the signal is not ideal and can lead to clipping.

    Please tell me how much difference is between one SB3000 and one SB16-Ultra ? SB3000 is much worse or a just little worse than SB16-Ultra ? How about going to super low frequencies (20Hz or lower) ? It is capable of doing that ?

      @@shaapoopiee Iam curious about quality of the basse of SB3000 comparing to SB16-Ultra but not max loudness... I living in rather small apartment with many neighbors and I cant play on high vol levels so i wont use even half of the power that SB16-Ultra can provide. But i still love good quality and low drop of base and i dont know if SB3000 can provide that... If i will lose much quality of the base buying SB3000 than SB16-Ultra then i will wait a little longer and buy SB16-Ultra (even if it 2x price of SB3000)

    Hi bro. Please if you don't mind, what input have you got about my situation?
    My onkyo receiver volume only reaches 89 as its maximum. So why can't volume reach 100 max? Is this normal across receivers? With that said, I usually make up for the volume difference by using my phone volume when playing music via bluetooth though.
    To be honest, at home for music and movie, I do not need the volume at 100 max because it would overwhelm myself plus neighbours too. I'm taking my basic home theatre to a small birthday get together so I was just wondering why.
    Btw, I'm using q acoustics 3090ci centre speak, 3030i bookshelf and sb3000.
    Thanks in advance

      Most AVR’s default volume is an absolute scale (usually 0-100). This is different with every manufacture so I recommend changing the volume to relative (-60dB to +20dB). With the latter scale, it is relative to Reference level.
      So if you run your auto calibration, your 0dB volume would be the same exact volume as my 0dB on my Marantz because both are calibrated with 0dB as being Reference volume.

      @@Youthman I've tried everything you've advised me and even read AVR manual it still didn't work out.
      I then decided to restore AVR to its original factory settings and though I had to go through a lot again it finally paid off!! I've discovered where volume settings are and can now pre-set to reach 99% max as well as minimum. I've tested it via bluetooth, decreasing phone media volume and cranking up receiver volume to the 99%... which didn't happen previously after several attempts. I couldn't earlier locate some settings. In fact sound quality has improved.
      There were obviously some technical glitches. Anyone reading this shouldn't forget to reset theirs. I'm extremely grateful for your help because I really needed this volume sorted for the mini party just in case. Thank you bro.

    Comparing a sealed sub compared to a ported sub just isn't a fair comparison. Of course you're going to get more SPL and low frequency extension from the PB3000. I love SVS's sealed subs, but to get true home theater heart pounding spine rattling bass and LFE, you'll have to step it up to the SB16-Ultra (dual's at that) for at least my size room which is 1800 Cubic Feet. But yes, for music I would think the SB3000 would be impressive to most!
