Id love to see you add a 1-8 ffp or sfp to the pst gen 2 line. I love my pst gen 2 1-6 but it does leave you wanting just a little bit more on an spr style build.
Another fantastic scope from Vortex, i've had a chance to see it in person and it felt awesome definitely a major improvement over the 1-8 SFP strike eagle. Great content on your podcast just recently came across this channel and really liking it so far!
this might be cool for a modernized lever gun, good 1x reticle, but also the ability to get a little better sight picture than a red dot if you were to hunt with it.
Maybe the tendency of people to change from minimum zoom to maximum zoom without messing with the inbetween plays a factor, I know it does for me. I like 3-9s cuz 3 is the most I can deal with for close stuff and more than 9 means I can barely find the target at the maximum distance I shoot freehand. I prefer 2-7s for the same reason, plus scout scopes are so easy to use.
I’m bought this. Wanted the 10 power but, for me, the reticle is an important choice. I vote for more reticle options. I know…. More choices creates more inventory and stockage issues. Or offer as special order? A Vortex sight torque tool? Hadn’t seen before. Woo hoo. Please put fastener sizes in instructions. Why not a tool free battery cover? I wish Vortex would invent a better rifle ‘bench’ rack/tool.
Great video. What separates the Razor from the strike Eagle? Besides the price point of course. Just bought the ffp Strike Eagle but may want to upgrade later on. Thanks for the information
wow i really like that reticle. Very similar to a couple of my red dots. I have a bunch of vortex scopes and red dots and bino’s…and now I have to buy this one. You guys are going to get me served divorce papers.
What stood out to me was, how little talk of the viper PST gen 2 1-6 there was. As in this crew knows whats NOT out yet……. when the PST gen 3 droppin fellas?
I'm looking to replace the scope on my 7mm-08 bolt action rifle. When I got the original scope I was focused on light weight low power for east coast big game hunting. I chose the Leupold 2-7X32. Would this LPVO be a good replacement. I see you use a 40" reference for ranging. That's pretty close to the height of the back of a big buck's back. How's the eye relief on this scope? I think the scope height wouldn't change much from my low mounting because the tube diameter is close to the objective diameter of the Leupold. So that's good. I think this would an ideal scope for snap shooting in the brush with illumination on at 1X and the would still be adequate for my maximum range of 400 yards when hunting at 8X using the BDC. I suspect you'd have some way of setting my zero so the BDC would be accurate for my load?
The bdc is calibrated for 5.56 (best with 55gr at 3100-3150 fps, but gets close with 62/69/77gr as well. A 7mm isn’t going to line up with the bdc with just a simple zero change. I mean the subtensions will be some random yardages, but “5” for 500 yards on the reticle isn’t going to be on at all.
@@tidypog3272 That's why I was asking about the eye relief and should have also mentioned eye box. I realize the eye box might be tighter at high power. Their discussion about parallax is also a plus. I would gain the kind of red dot on low power for darker conditions and have a slightly easier time at shooting with both eyes open. Yes it will be a lot heavier but at my age, I don't move around as much when hunting and the added weight will reduce felt recoil a little.
A FFP 1-8 or 1-10 with a EBR 9.5 reticle, which would be a bolder EBR 9 with longer stadia and only the center dot, I don’t need that donut. Just make that center dot brighter than f&@k. With roughly the same quality glass as the razor.
It won't work - the BDC isn't calibrated for 300BO. Get a Primary Arms 1-6x ACSS 7.62x39/300 Blackout instead, which is designed for use with that cartridge. Vortex ought to make it a priority to get their own model out in that configuration, because right now they have no competitor.
Who on earth relies on BDC marks from any manufacturer for 300 blk when the ammo variation is massive? Stadia are just reference marks to utilize after confirming DOPE. I can't imagine folks out there hunting with a "300 blk BDC" and expecting it to actually work with their load and barrel length.
@@brenn330 - BDCs have their time and place, especially for people who take the trouble to know what they can do and what they cannot. Others, such as yourself, find traditional systems a better fit. There's no universal "right answer" that fits everyone, only what works for your needs at the time. And it is germane to note that Primary Arms does an exceptional job of writing their owner's manuals to inform the user which loads work with which barrel lengths and so on. Vortex, to name one competitor, would do well to follow their lead - because their owner's manuals are not up to snuff, in my view. They could be better done.
$599.00 “…a touch cheaper than the 1-10 Gen III Razor…” What am I missing?!?!? The best price I can find a Razor Gen III HD for is $2499.00. The MSRP on this scope is less than a 1/4 the price of the Razor. It’s about 40% of the price of a Razor 1-6 Gen II. I have a Razor 1-6 Gen II and a Strike Eagle 1-6x24, and I will never buy another Razor for an LPVO. What is the [purpose] of an LPVO? When you put that question into its true context the Razor does not provide such a significant difference to justify the cost over a Strike Eagle. If you have the money and just want a Razor LPVO, go for it. But I won’t be buying any more Razor LPVOs. The Strike Eagle line of LPVOs will be my go to line if I buy anymore.
He was just joking around when he said just a touch cheaper and both have their perks both are high quality products and worth the money, they have a video more in depth on LPVO’s if you want to know more about them.
So Crossfire and Diamondback are the lower end. Venom and Strike Eagle are the mid tier. Golden Eagle only has one optic so it doesn't count. That leaves Viper and Razor as the top tier optics. You're better off buying the Venom 1-6 than a strike eagle, better turrets and 1/4 inch adjustments. Glass is the same and better throw lever. Now the Strike Eagle 1-8 and Viper are about the same price but you get more with the Strike Eagle, extra 2X and FFP reticle. But you can find deals if you look.
Oh...look... ...another LPVO... ....with a reticle that looks *very* similar to the PA ACSS...and thus has all the issues that come with BDC's... ...I'm bored...
Good gentlemen at Vortex. If my team had to take back buildings, houses, and neiborhoods room by room..running, and gunning, constantly getting rocked at close CQB. And you put that optic or any LPVO in your military loadout at any capacity ...I'd jump across my desk and cut you in half with my NCO sword. This optic is NOT a warfighting tool, its an emergency home defense tool and emergency sub 300 yard poor mans hunting only. And in all good candor it's a horrible reticle at either task. Inferior hardware and it will get you killed even if youre well trained adjusted to it. Its simply not enough...of anything.
I got the SFP 1-8x strike eagle for my son and he loves it. I love it when I can get my sons to smile!
We love to hear that! Glad he is liking the Strike Eagle 1-8 SFP! Thanks for being a part of Vortex Nation!
Low key a little mad it’s not just part of the Viper line. I would pay $899-$999 for a 1-8 FFP Viper. Still seems awesome though.
Got it, love it. Little fuzzy at 8x but an affordable FFP is unobtainium so I'm happy
Id love to see you add a 1-8 ffp or sfp to the pst gen 2 line. I love my pst gen 2 1-6 but it does leave you wanting just a little bit more on an spr style build.

Would love to see a 1-10 FFP more designed towards the hunter with either caliber specific reticles or BDC for the common calibers
Hey Chris! We appreciate the feedback! We'll be sure to pass this along to our product development team.
BDC's need to die, they're useless for any ammunition/caliber that isn't what the reticle was designed for.
I have asked for this also.
You should have a product link to your sales page on the video description.
I love the reticle!!
this might be cool for a modernized lever gun, good 1x reticle, but also the ability to get a little better sight picture than a red dot if you were to hunt with it.
I use an older Vortex Viper PST 1-4 on my lever gun for precisely this reason.
just got one to put on my finnwolf in .308.
It will be wild when 1-10s are common as 1-6. Not sure why the 1-8’s don’t tickle my fancy like either of the aforementioned
Maybe the tendency of people to change from minimum zoom to maximum zoom without messing with the inbetween plays a factor, I know it does for me. I was looking at this optic for my AR.. might take another look
Let us know if you have any questions!
When will y’all make a MRAD version?
Can you guys do a dedicated video on the diamond back tactical 4-24x40 2nd focal plane and all its features.
FFP, you got my attention!
I’m bought this. Wanted the 10 power but, for me, the reticle is an important choice. I vote for more reticle options.

Can Vortex do a video showing using this scope on a 16" 308 AR10?
Great channel
That’s a pretty cool little optic
Great video. What separates the Razor from the strike Eagle? Besides the price point of course. Just bought the ffp Strike Eagle but may want to upgrade later on. Thanks for the information

Better than average algorithm buster
got this scope on a gunsite scout in 308, perfect union
What stood out to me was, how little talk of the viper PST gen 2 1-6 there was. As in this crew knows whats NOT out yet……. when the PST gen 3 droppin fellas?
Tactical scope with MOA?????
Please do this to the viper line!
Still waiting on a Viper PST GEN III in this configuration and magnification range.
This scope or the Viper PST GenII 1-6?
Will there be a second reticule that is not BDC?
The first one isn't BDC
If only this came in a Mil ret with a illuminated horse shoe for low magnification.
Bdc reticles just arnt versitle enough.
I would buy one if it had a mrad reticle and mil adjustments.
VORTEX !!!!! WE NEED A FFP VIPER PST 1-6 !!!!!!!!!

What you have now will gather more light, weigh less and be easier to look through

Can you please talk about 25-45 Sharps, Please !?
Now put the hsr 4/ hsr5i in a viper pst, with a 1-10 magnification range.
Psa has this for $499 with a 16" upper with it for easter sales! Im too poor 😢😢
I wish vortex would go back to having exposed vertical turrets for those of us that dial at longer ranges
Who’s dialing on a 1-8 ?
@@madride858585 I have at several run n gun matches. Where targets are at 5-600 yards. I’m much more confident with dialing that a bdc reticle.
@@cellargunsmith1251 I guess that would turn it into a jog and gun match
Has anyone thought about a 1-8 x 30 or 34? Is it practical?
Has there been a talk on the 6.5 Grendel?
Yeah but it’s been a while.
Need this for my 300 BLK!
Why? The bdc isn’t going to line up at all. Get a mil or moa reticle scope or Primary Arms has a 300 blackout specific bdc scope.

I use the low power scopes on my shorter range rifles….lever actions and 350 legend….So no they arent just for AR’s.
I plan on putting this on my LR308.
Do the venom scope next please.
Venom is the garbage bottom of the bin. So no.

Because america
Philippines? China? Or Japan?
Strike Eagles - China
Viper PSTs - Philippines
Razors and above - Japan/Europe
24 oz without mount :/
No way...
You’re right, that’s way heavy.

So um for this reticle we um... copied primary arms um and um put our name on it lol
