for 3D/curved pieces did you shape the foam after attaching the fabric with heat?

Shaping was done after attaching the fabric!

Thought I'd turn to the cosplayers for info as I'm making a custom dashboard for a car restoration. Looking for something in a method to form and cover an EVA foam crashpad and my goodness you folks have some awesome skills and methods there. Super video demo. :)

Do you think this would work with foam balls and pleather? I have two foam balls I covered with batting and plan to use Yaya Han stretch pleather on it but am having a hard time not getting any seams towards the top since it’s a circle.

Did you prime your foam before attaching it to the fabric, and if yes, what primer did you sue? I'm currently using Flexbond/bookbinding glue as a primer, and I'm a little concerned how it might react to the heat from the iron.

I was also wondering this! Or if I need to heat close the EVA foam pores or leave them as is while doing this.

Cool technique!! Will this work with any fabric or only spandex/stretch fabrics?

It should work with any fabric that adheres to Heat N' Bond. So far, I've only tried this on stretch fabrics, but I can see that only being necessary if you have a lot of details on your foam that the fabric will have to mold over.

I’ve been trying this technique but am unable to get the EVA to attach to the heat n bond. Any advice?

I’m making a witch/wizard hat and I’m planning for it to have a bit of a scrunched up look. Do you think the fabric will still hold if I scrunch the foam a bit?

What level temp are you using for the iron? I'm always apprehensive about using an iron on any metallics or vinyls.

Used at high temp, but I have an older iron. I HIGHLY recommend testing it out first, since all irons are different. Also, having a pressing cloth is suuuper helpful

Thank you. Didn't expect "high temp" to be your answer. I definitely test before I do anything on a final piece. I guess that means I should finally invest in a real pressing cloth instead of using a towel though. 😅

EVA shrinks when it gets hot. Not sure how anyone is ironing on it without warping it.
