For more information about Dorsey Trailer click here www.dorseytrail... This week is starting to get better. I show how I get to Mercer Transportation with all of the construction in downtown Louisville Kentucky
You chose the right way to go into Louisville. I lived about a block from where you were up until 4 years ago.. That end of town is dangerous. Watch yourself.
You are right the construction 🚧 is a huge headache for us Mercer people trying to get in and out of there. We always come in through downtown now and have been trying to figure out another way.
Thanks for the tour. I’ve lived in Louisville for 7 years and never drove around the downtown area. I worked at the bank of First National Towers there downtown. Thanks for the video. Roger.
I think that the noise from your "new" truck that you claimed was the clutch pedal, I think it is your knee, because it came with you to the "old" truck! LOL!
The Inner City Warehouses in older areas of the USA were built when trucks and Trailers were a lot Shorter, say 30 to 40 ft Trailers and Cab Over Trucks. Here in the UK all of our Trucks are Cab Overs, but the Trailers vary so much here, generally 40 ft long and up to (i think) 16 ft 8 in tall, so multi deck trailers are quite common and a lot are Curtain Siders. i don't see many Flat Bed Trailers at all these days on my local High Way. So here, much Shorter but a Lot Taller Trailers. Great video's as always, greetings from North Wales, UK.
In UK, we have the oddity that when a trucking company builds a depot with no near neighbours, you can bet you last dollar that house will be built then the occupants complain at your noise! Local Government will then curtail the operations hours of business!!!?? CRAZY. (But during my time in the RAF, the same would happen, so night flying was curtailed).
Looks like that Mercer location was around since back when the whole truck trailer combo was 48'. But you made it look easy Dan. I bet that guy you parked next to has fun getting around there.
It's nice to see a Canadian truck down there (Challenger which was parked next to you at beginning of video, not the bob tail you pointed out but beside him).
You have much better truck stops than us in England massive parking areas and shops and fuel pumps sounds as though you don't use log books any more more it's more like us with are tackographs your hour rules seem complicated than ours your videos so good
i had one of those pickups in Queens or the Bronx where you had to back into a box entrance and it was a very tight squeeze with a 53 ft trailer. this was before they told ya, 53 ftrs weren't allowed in NYC. after my 2 accidents in Queens, i never entered NYC again, even when i was routed Thru NYC, to NJ, i went around even paid out of pocket without requesting a refund on the bridge toll.
Once you finally get into Mercer you must have a feeling of accomplishment. Weather was very nice you got the Ohio drop off and next load pick up well planned , best of luck and safe driving Dan, nice video
Thanks for the video ! I always enjoy your content even if it's just an average day. They say count your blessings starting your day off and you will realize each day is better and better
Chicago used to have lots of those buildings with the pillars right on the curb. They where a problem to back into even with 40 and 45 foot trailers. Always had cars parked on the street.
@9:00 yes that’s portland, it’s the hood not the best place to be at night. some of the houses up too four streets in from this exit have been there since before the 1850s.
I have always enjoyed your videos Dan. I am actually planning on coming to work at Mercer for a fleet owner til I can buy my own truck. Have you ever talked to fleet owners or have any information? Thanks! Keep greasy side down
If you have container locks, yes. No container locks the rule is securing for half the weight, containers require chains front and back, strap every ten feet (Mercer wants two first five, takes the guess work out of the any increment of footage past the last ten foot rule. But a 20' container two chains, one strap would be okay, weight pending. The goal is go past DOT looking & being correct to keep from giving them a reason to be pulled in. Personally, I secure the same way, two minutes for an additional strap.
What are most truckers going to do since the bridge between the ohio is closed after that semi truck accident, ik there other bridge but ik one had to be closed because it was designed with semi in mine
I used to own 2 older reefers they wer good just high hours i teid sell them for a year i pared them with 2 2010 587 trucks had Million plus miles Sold them in a week
How often do you all haul anther carriers loads like do you or can you pull a CRST molone if they couldn't get it covered with there truck's? If you don't mind could you explain that in a video? Thinks
Power available to plug into at lounge, dog area, exercise room, close to washer/driers, showers, & commercial kitchen. Really done up nice for us. Parking only at the other lot(s).
I like the countdown for lights also. I heard official’s don’t like them because they think people will race to beat the light. Nothing worse than when the light turns green and you gear up to go through then without warning and for no reason it turns yellow. So you hammer on the brakes or run through it, looking like an idiot.
It's annoying when the van and reefer guys backbinto a spot and stop with their tires on the line and 10 feet of their trailer into the spot behind them.

Love hearin' the old CAT pullin' Pete again. The truck has character for sure! Stay safe!
❤️❤️❤️
Hello
Yeaaaah Mercer definitely picked a pretty snug spot to set up shop! Definitely good to know the lay of the land around there! Good stuff Dan👍
Beautiful scenery ! I enjoyed the shots of Bailey, as my dog Gus passed yesterday. No replacement for the company of a good dog.
Great job backing up your “Dorsey” Trailer so easily to pick up the two (2) Shipping Containers. 👍
Good thing you have loud horns! They sure helped you back out of that street!
The opening music, lol.. I was waiting for the Spartans or Vikings to start the bloodletting.. Cheers,ed.
Hey dan i had to laugh. You have the old Pete rolling again and I just saw a paccar commercial on your channel 😆
❤️
Love ❤️
Love the videos Dan. Keep it positive!

Looks like a real nice area to walk around in after dark. 😱
Long time fan .You Tube Is popping in commercials every 5 minutes.Never use to happen.
We live off the 71 and having that exit to downtown Louisville blocked has been a pain. Love your vids.
You chose the right way to go into Louisville.

502 represent!! That’s my hometown
Thanks for everything you do . Always enjoy watching. Can’t wait for more.
Nice one Dan.
No mercy getting into Mercer.
If it was easy anyone could do it.
Thanks for the tour. I’ve lived in Louisville for 7 years and never drove around the downtown area. I worked at the bank of First National Towers there downtown. Thanks for the video. Roger.
Never drove the downtown area....Probably why you are still alive
I think that the noise from your "new" truck that you claimed was the clutch pedal, I think it is your knee, because it came with you to the "old" truck! LOL!
Now thats funny as hell. Gotta admit that Dan
The new old truck sounds sweet great video 👍

The uh... peculiar position of Mercer HQ is widely known. Never actually watched an approach before. Good stuff
Safe travels Dan 🌵👍🇬🇧
Thanks Dan. Always enjoy your videos. Blessings

Safe travels Dan give em hell DONT let em breathe
Another great video, Dan! Love those Classic Freightshakers that you parked next to in the Mercer lot!
Love watching ur videos Dan ur always very professional and u explain things that we as drivers havta go through
Mercer should give each of their Drivers a Shoe Horn since ALL the Streets are so Tight to their Lot.
Thread the needle backing up. Nice
Long way around to get to Mercers lot. See ya.
Stay Safe
Looks like that Mercer location was around since back when the whole truck trailer combo was 48'. But you made it look easy Dan. I bet that guy you parked next to has fun getting around there.
Keep on rollin' Dan. Stay safe.
Great drum music Dan. Kinda sounds like a grand entry at a Native American pow wow.
Ha I was in Dayton Thursday morning going to Springfield Mo. Aren’t you glad no more DEF to deal with? I like this truck better. Safe travels.
One thing I miss with the old (new) Pete, are the hood mirrors. It was good to see what the trailer was doing on turns.
Hi Dan, do you miss the hood mirrors?
It's nice to see a Canadian truck down there (Challenger which was parked next to you at beginning of video, not the bob tail you pointed out but beside him).
Boa noite, lindo vídeo e boa sorte
You had me. I thought you were adding the fourth box to your trailer
Great video peterbilt sounds awesome
Great show Dan ! Watching from Cleveland Ohio! Very entertaining! Keep up the excellent work!
Wow! Nice start with an excellent choice of music! Perfect!

Hey Dan they just opened up a new Loves at exit 54 on I57 in IL and a new Road ranger at exit 45 on I57 in IL. So stop by .....
Safe travels Dan
Thanks for watching
Yes sir you were down town Portland.
i had one of those pickups in Queens or the Bronx where you had to back into a box entrance and it was a very tight squeeze with a 53 ft trailer. this was before they told ya, 53 ftrs weren't allowed in NYC. after my 2 accidents in Queens, i never entered NYC again, even when i was routed Thru NYC, to NJ, i went around even paid out of pocket without requesting a refund on the bridge toll.
Dan, remember the I-75 bridge from Ky. to Ohio is closed....Safe travels brother....
Thank you for your video with Covid don’t get on road trips ( retired )
Portland is a "nickname" for that part of Louisville. You don't want to get caught there at night.
I gotta say good video dan keep trucking
Man what a pain! I’d have to avoid the terminal as much as possible.
Once you finally get into Mercer you must have a feeling of accomplishment. Weather was very nice you got the Ohio drop off and next load pick up well planned , best of luck and safe driving Dan, nice video
Thanks for the video ! I always enjoy your content even if it's just an average day.

Turbo sounds good !!!
Thanks for the video Dan.
Good video as always! Thanks!
You should do a 1 month update on the truck switch - seems to be working out pretty good

That closed bridge up in Cincinnati effecting your travels? Safe travel Dan.
Hello boss! Be safe
Thanks for watching
Keep up the great work 👍
Dan you should checkout Pittsburgh power for fuel efficient tune for your truck
That’s crazy that a big company like that is right downtown!
You just took the Tarc city bus route I take going to Louisville from across the river.
🙋🏽♂️ Welcome
Yeah all those old buildings were built when trucks were single axle and 35' single axle trailers.😁
Brent spence bridge i75 is closex must take 275
I have always enjoyed your videos Dan. I am actually planning on coming to work at Mercer for a fleet owner til I can buy my own truck. Have you ever talked to fleet owners or have any information?
Thanks! Keep greasy side down
Maybe a tour of your truck?
Appears that the owner-operator can select the color of his tractor without restrictions?
Those straps are just for show. Those sea vans are only secured to a chassis by those ISO corners and no straps.
If you have container locks, yes. No container locks the rule is securing for half the weight, containers require chains front and back, strap every ten feet (Mercer wants two first five, takes the guess work out of the any increment of footage past the last ten foot rule. Dan I was always told/taught to cross chain the shipping containers from the top? Is that wrong? Enlighten me please. No disrespect intended. Thanks
Both are acceptable per FMCSA
What are most truckers going to do since the bridge between the ohio is closed after that semi truck accident, ik there other bridge but ik one had to be closed because it was designed with semi in mine
Add 30 mins to detour around it. Thats about it
dang Dan, was that like the city taxi route? squeeze a few extra bucks out?
So how did you get around Cincinnati with the BRENT SPENCE BRIDGE closed?
Talk about auto trans or standard shift
I used to own 2 older reefers they wer good just high hours i teid sell them for a year i pared them with 2 2010 587 trucks had Million plus miles
Sold them in a week
What?
Is that video with new camera
Looking to come over to Mercer. I’ll be hauling flatbed. Good company??!
Perfect location for a trucking company 😂😂😂😂
I'm glad I don't have such dramatic music playing when I'm backing, it'd make me nervous!
How often do you all haul anther carriers loads like do you or can you pull a CRST molone if they couldn't get it covered with there truck's? If you don't mind could you explain that in a video? Thinks
Do those containers ever want to walk on that flatbed any?
Dan, why don't you put pieces of mud flaps under the corners of the containers?
Great video! Keep on truckin' !
Safe miles!
Love the music!
Thanks
You know you should partner up your old trailer with the other truck and sell them as a Truck an Trailer
I've been talking to mercer. Been wondering if it's worth it for a first time owner
Is the bridge from the Ky side to Ohio open yet? Saw on the news that it was closed over the weekend for a fire
December 23rd is what I seen when they expect it to be open again
A good friend of mine who was leased to Mercer for many years passed away yesterday morning from cancer.
I’m sorry to hear about that.
What’s the difference between the contractors lots on the other one
Power available to plug into at lounge, dog area, exercise room, close to washer/driers, showers, & commercial kitchen. Really done up nice for us. Parking only at the other lot(s).

Why so many bobtails cramed in the lot there?
They're doing UPS or FedEx
Yup, that's Portland. Aka the hood, part of anyway.
was gonna say that place is real shady..
@@wannabefulltimers lol, you could add five or six "real"s in there.
Missthedogs
I think I would avoid Mercer Town for awhile!
It's annoying when the van and reefer guys backbinto a spot and stop with their tires on the line and 10 feet of their trailer into the spot behind them.
