I couldn't agree more, when the LN series first came out in 1970,not only was it a good looking truck, but it was nice designed well laid out truck that was fairly easy to service.
Wow!!! I absolutely loved this!!! The Ford LNT, LTS LTL and CLT are my favourite truck hands down. I would take a LNT or LTS any day over a Peterbilt or Kenworth all day every day! My uncle was one of the first owners to run a LNT 9000 dump truck in 1970 here in southwestern Ontario Canada. It was the first truck I learned to drive on in 1982. I loved the cockpit style instrument panel inside. It was laid out for a real driver to appreciate without having to take your eyes off the road for too long.
We had good luck with those older L8000 trucks. Always liked the cab better than international S line. I love how the old Dayton style wheels aren’t even running straight at the assembly plant 😂😂
Notice all the people wearing a white shirt, and a tie! My dad was so happy to not need a tie and could wear any color of shirt to work in 1976, when he took a new job designing stuff. When working at Hughes Aircraft in 1955 to 1970, it was all business, tie and white shirt, and a sports coat going into and when going home from the office. Great video, brings back some fond memories. I was thinking the 1969 trucks look a lot like the 1980 trucks! Seems like they did not make a lot of changes. At my work, in 1997, they had a 1982 F-650 COE truck, and it basically looked exactly like the 1959 model! Fun fact, difference between the F-7000 and F-700? The diesel is used in the 7000 and 8000 series, while the gas engine is used in the 700 series. They used a lot of gas engines back in the 60's! Even the WW2 trucks that they produced so many of in 1943 - 45, all gas engine 6 cylinder with about 235 cubic inches! I was impressed on what a small engine displacement it is, considering it is a 10 wheel truck. The 1969 F-600 and F-700 could be had with a 391 engine or a 534, maybe other displacements too!
We run two Louisville's hauling lumber over the years, one had a Detroit, the one I run now has the Brazilian engine, it does the job if you ain't in a hurry 🇺🇸
I'm not going to lie I would love to get me back in 1969 a brand new f800 single axle with a dump body 14 ft bed painted red with a white stripe going down the side just like Grandpa used to drive had a Ford big block 4 barrel Holly with an Allison transmission I miss that truck
Ford was serious in the late '60s where the company scanned Gateway's competative repair orders on White, Internationals, GMC's and Macks ........to enable Ford to have lower cost of ownership .
The louisville trucks were much better imo. The gm heavy truck division always seemed like an afterthought. I never thought gm had anywhere the build quality the louisville did. It always seemed to me where gm shined, cars for example, ford lagged and the other way around. Needed a heavy truck, buy a ford. Need a passenger car, buy gm.
@@J-1410 the ford 332 are such pieces of shit so gutless and slow the head design was so terrible that the engine could not breathe compared to my 1980 ford ln7000 with the cat 3208 diesel it performed a hell lot more than the ford gas engines
I will never understand why Ford abandoned the heavy duty truck segment. They sold great, lasted a long time and had excellent parts support.
Those L Series trucks looked so modern for the time. It was such a clean and straightforward design that still looks good over 50 years later.
Amen
I'm not a Ford guy.....but I miss them
They were better than strings their successors

I agree a bigger cab too
Much better than a sterling their so called successor
They were tough off road trucks too with less plastic
Back in the good days when diesel was about 20 CENTS a gallon instead of $5.20 a gallon today!
20 cents wow
Great video love the old Ford trucks 😊😊

In 92 when I got serious what I wanted to be I started off in a 78 9000 v6 9 speed White cab red nose I rode with my dad 6 months
Back when Ford had it together and was producing innovative products! I dig the jazzy backing music in this promotional video.
Would love to see some archive videos of the svt lightening on the assembly line

My livelihood from 1968 until 2000.
was something cut at 7:39?
them trucks sold real well
I didn't get my CDL until 2006 and sadly all the trucks I've driven I have never been a Ford
Those are nice trucks tbh

Those who drove these, how did they compare to the GMC’s during the era? I’m talking late 1960’s though late 1980’s?

We did not get the L series in Australia until 1975
