Really don't want to trash the food. That looks similar to Dhawa Resort next door. Now when I look at it. They did try to show us the best they can. Personally, I don't like the service. But. They got the beach.. food. Other than trying, reality is . the cold cuts taste exactly the same no matter how they look like or where you go and see something similar. 100 years old stew. Fruits.. All I had was pineapples all week. Meat.. you wouldnt like the meat there.
Went in End of March 2023. Stunned by the beach and view. Had an amazing time with my Gf. I will never forget. But I still can't lie about the food. It was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! I just forgot about it when I was at the beach.
If you are going to CUBA. DO NOT BELIEVE any positive review about food. Be prepared and bring some food for the time being. You will thank me later if you do just that.

Looks good to me. I went to a resort in Cayo Coco where there were not eggs but there was omelette. So I thought, you can get omelettes without eggs. ?? A few days later, I met the manager and asked what gives ?. He admitted that they had a shortage of eggs and that the omelettes were made from imported mexican egg powder.
Actually, the omelettes tasted just like they were made from whole eggs.

I agree that there wasn't so much to chose from, but to say that the food was horrible... To me the food was delicious and organic. I got rid of inflammation and digestive issues in less than a week. I'm afraid that our taste buds are distorted by so many chemicals in the ingeniered food.
I was amazed to taste the chicken and the pork, just as I remember it from my childhood when my grandmother used to catch them and slaughter them and cook them on wood fire.
If you like the taste of chicken filled with hormones and antibiotics certainly this food is not for you.
Moreover many of the locals work from 5 am to 1 pm and cannot even dream to taste this kind of food or even worse to give it to their children.
True story: going back home with my daughter I was so excited to give her real cow milk, but she was disgusted by it. Because she is used to this liquid that resemble milk.
It's all about perspective and preferences.
I personally couldn't get enough of their food because my stomach was too full. Yeah, the food was delicious according to my taste. My plates were always empty, except once at the Italian where I made the wrong choice to order carbonara. That was the only time my plate stayed full. That was the worst carbonara. But in their defense, my expectations were the highest because I had carbonara in a real Italian restaurant in Europe, cooked by an Italian chef. C'mon now!
    And then the beach!

      I live in Cuba.
This is going to be a shock for you, but the chicken in Cuba comes from the US, full of hormones and factory farmed. The only way to eat chicken raised in Cuba is if your Santaría sacrifice goes your way 😂 You will know because it won't have any meat on the bones.
The yuca, malanga and boniato are local. Veggies are local. Rice, beans, sugar, eggs and milk are imported. The eggs are from the US. Sugar is mostly from the US. The garbanzos we had were from Spain, the rice from Brazil, the milk powder from Chile.
Organic? Well it is carbon based. No petro-fertilizers because anything petro goes in the tank. They will splurge on the insecticides because if they don't they lose everything to the bichos.

@@carmenmb94 Why is the rice and beans imported? Arroz con frijoles is a national dish, surely you produce rice and beans? Why is sugar imported? Is it due to the current crop failure? Normally, Cuba produces rice, beans and lots of sugar, right? Or do you mean that they import the food for tourists to ensure the quality?

@@fomobull4187 Cuba has not produced enough rice, beans or sugar for the population in four years. Much of the sugar produced goes to make rum for exportation. Coffee is more than 50% chicharros. Even tobacco (cigarettes) is imported.
One cannot go to the market and expect to buy what one wants. Yuca, boniato, platanos, malanga and calabaza are hit and miss. Potatoes, habichuela (string beans) and tomatoes are "opportunities".
Canned and frozen foods might be available in the hard currency stores, but the prices are out of reach unless you have a "tío" sending remittances.
As far as the ration system (libreta de abastecimiento en la bodega), they haven't been able to fulfill the entitlement in two years.
It's not the weather or the soil that has created the shortage.

It was my favorite resort. I saw how during a hurricane the gazebo floated out to the sea. I remember beach before they renovated it. I am little scary to go there now. I don't mind food shortage. I don't want to get poisoned. 🐟🍉🦐👒

Now the catch: This food is for tourists only! While Cuban citizens starve and are prohibited from buying simple things like beef and milk, the government makes the population cry tears of blood to supply the resorts (which are also prohibited to Cuban citizens) with all the best and the best! Long live tropical paradise!

@nicolebela2991 your best bet is go to domenican repoblic you will have no issues with such things
And my recommendation would be go to north side of DR not Punta cana you gonna pay alot more just because it's a resort town.
People in the north are much more friendly and the resorts are reasonable
