      Insane is exactly the word to describe this one haha. Pretty tough to show yourself making 0 impacts out of 10 rounds on UA-cam but ultimately it is what it is haha. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and support the channel!

      @@MountainsMulletsMericanah... Massive respect for keeping it real bro. It's easy to just not show ourselves being less than amazing behind a gun. It takes actual balls to show the misses and the flawed sessions.

    Good equipment. Reliable, accurate rifle and optic. Capable cartridge and projectile for the task.Time behind trigger in similair terrain, positions and weather all covered appropriately but that stinking wind can be a pain in the arse!😅
    Any of us who have shot past our comfort zone on a windy day have their experience like the last course of fire.
    Nice job showing everything in your video. A big help for those who may be figuring everything out. Also the real experience of long range with your method of explaining, setting up, impacts and corrections is a plus for your channel in my humble opinion.
    Outstanding.

    8:14 time stamp, I’d venture to say the bc variation on the a- tip is much smaller than that of the eldx. As demonstrated in the video , may not show its ugly head in practical hunting ranges , but it most certainly will at longer ranges when traditional ballistic calculators and g7 bc starts to show its inadequacies. Great video as always.

    Great to see videos like this. I have nothing chambered in this caliber. I do have a bolt gun chambered in 6.5 x 55 Swede which is a pretty capable round. Have mostly shot rounds in the 140 gr size. This round has been around for nearly 100 years and the newer developed chambering always seem to be more in vogue. Went to Ally to buy ammo to support your sponsor here in mid-April - and they were out of stock on about 60%+ of their inventory. None of what I needed 308 and 6ARC, etc. was available. Tell the boys down in Texas that sponsoring ammo/advertising, creating demand, driving traffic at the web store is a complete waste if you can’t plan inventory management. I get it that having a stock-out of one or two skus will happen from time to time but to have half or more of the items unavailable means something is wrong with the business. Don’t mean to be an azzhole - but if you don’t know what prevents customers that want to buy from you from doing so, you’re running blind. As always thanks for the content.

    I like your approach on how you compare factory bullets and rifle/optics at various distances. However, this approach should not advocate It’s application to hunting situations beyond 600 yards. Reason, there are too many variables to consider and you owe it to the game that you pursue that 100% of the time you can make and a clean ethical shot with your first shot. I see your missed shots at various distances that if hunting could wound an animal and the possibility of not recovering that animal.
    What I would like to see is your approach as it relates to hunting rifles, when you should consider better optics. A considerable number of hunters today still use Variable and fix power scopes. When should you step up to a tactical turret and use a ballistic app and at what distance do we first need to consider using it. Taking a shot at an animal 200 - 300 yards away with a fixed or variable scope is a lot different than using a turret and in your words pushing out the limits of this bullet and gun combination.. Old guns set up with fixed and variable scopes can push out their effective range beyond 200 - 600 yards with a tactical scope. Most viewers believe you wouldn’t hunt elk in the back country with your heavy gun and tripod. Please be realistic, long range shooting with your setup is great but not for hunting the back country.

    Incredible video, perfect format, and interesting material. Thr A-Tip is manufactured to tighter tolerances than the ELD-M or ELD-X, so this is not an accurate representation of match vs hunting to be fair.
    You need either a eld-m/eld-x combo that are withing 1-2gr of each other with equal powder charges and go from there.

    What are those weights that you are using and what bolts that you use so you can slide the barrel out??

    • @MountainsMulletsMerica
      @MountainsMulletsMerica  2 місяці тому

      You’re referring to the weights on the mrad? They are from Snyder precision and they are available in a long or short configuration. The bolts are specific to the Barrett mrad as far as I know. Their barrel change system is really slick as you can swap to different calibers in minutes with their clamp and bolt design.

      Oh man I don’t even know…. 2 miles pretty easily, possibly further but I haven’t measured haha. Unfortunately I can’t say I own this land, I just know some friendly farmers that let me shoot in some epic terrain.

    Hey Mr. MMM, you had that wind, that you did not need to contend with, you have enough land out there, "I can see", you have "PLENTY", of land, to set up your target "DOWN WING", Sooo, you get an accurate comparison of the two different rounds, you're going for "Range" comparison, not windage, you can figure windage on your app, but to get an accurate "RANGE"/"DISTANCE", comparison, you got'a have dead wind or shoot straight down wind, besides the fact, you are way over 1,000 yards out, that wind is doing six different things between you and your only flag, at the target. so you're just going off of what the flag is doing. Just a thought, Cheers to ya mate!

    Why aren’t you running your chrono when shooting those longer ranges? I think it’s likely that some of those misses are outliers on your MV range vs an error in the ballistic model

    • @MountainsMulletsMerica
      @MountainsMulletsMerica  6 місяців тому +2

      Great question and something I thought about after filming…. I have another ELR caliber compare video coming in a couple weeks where I did run the chrono for the ELR shooting and it illustrated exactly what you mention.

      @@MountainsMulletsMerica watching king of 2 mile is like watching paint dry but it definitely got my wheels turning about why misses happen. Every single one of those guys has a chrono on the gun. I think when you’re shooting out to transonic distance it’s a neat must unless you have a ton of data on a given load

    • @LFDNC
      @LFDNC 6 місяців тому

      I’m beginning to think we should all get a chrono. I recently saw a video about ammo manufacturers not being honest about their ballistics. I’d have to hunt it down, but Hornady was one of the companies in question.
