- A day of beautiful long beach after beautiful long beach (and some not so beautiful)/
My friend Charlie Charlesworth III and I set off on a tour of the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia. Our intention was to drive from Johor up the east coast to the Thai border and back in just 7 days in a 26 year old Perodua Kancil (660cc).
It's day 2 we are travelling from Pekan to Chukiai a journey with many beautiful beaches on the way.

The brown sand at pekan beach looks like desaru beach. It should be white sand. Meaning you haven’t seen the best beach yet in malaysia 😅

Never been back to the East Coast after I went to Desaru during my first few months here in 2012 and was very disappointed. Looks like I should have gone North!!
Desaru, I just don’t get it.
It’s gone the Langkawi route,hotels owning bits of beach. Not my idea of fun.
But, yeah the beaches start just after Mersing, the water gets clearer the further north you go.
