    Wow... flying in that much wind with the props on. Impressive, AtomicRC did their homework designing the Swordfish.

    Beautiful flight Andrew!! I wish we had some hills around Fort Worth, Texas but we are mostly FLAT! But with some pretty good winds, 8 to 14mph, I can keep most of my powered gliders up for 30 minutes to an hour. But for UA-cam purposes, I will keep the videos to only about 10 minutes. Love your videos and choice of gliders!!! You have such beautiful sights to fly from!

    @AerialWaviator Рік тому +1

    Awesome!! It's an acrobatic sloper too. You could probably even try some FPV slopping.
    A possible mod could be a installing a pair of folding propellers, then the Swordfish will be ready to handle anything you could throw at it.
    BTW: Andrew, your mic handled the wind very well too.

    • @n1vca
      @n1vca Рік тому

      Folding props along a wing?! Only if the motor sticks out more that the radius of the prop, else you will not be able to get it started. And that modification might move the center of gravity way into the front, which might then be difficult to counteract, I guess?

    A very nice flier! And such great weather! I went river rowing today, and the temperature was 0°C (to later increase thanks to the continuous sunshine to about ten degrees).

      @@AndrewNewton, :)
      Even in summer. I am thinking about take off and landing: while some RC planes could, indeed, be launched by hand, they would, I assume, be difficult to catch when trying to retrieve them at the end of the session.

    • @blackbirdboy1
      @blackbirdboy1 Рік тому +1

      @hntrains You want a big net to fly into suspended by poles. Plane hopefully gets caught in netting, then lower it to the boat to retrieve.

    • @hntrains2
      @hntrains2 Рік тому +1

      @@blackbirdboy1, that, indeed! And it could be fun! But it would also be too complicated to actually be worth trying - other, that is, than for an experiment to post on UA-cam to delight one's audience.
      Better, then, keep the two - rowing and RC flying - separate! :)

    I just got over of these. I am about to fit my dji o3 unit. I was wondering there you placed the air unit. I see the camera at the front, i like that. I also see the aerial at the back which is good. I have the max camera cable of 200mm which puts my air unit in the battery bay, not happy about that due to lack of air flow.

    It’s almost perfect! It’s just missing…. Well, i wish it could… it needs to… Huh, I think this one actually checks *all* the boxes. I see a bunch of people complaining about the default iNav setup, but come on! All the hours of soldering and splicing and running wires through here and there and sorting out how to fit everything in are gone! I’ll take plugging it into a laptop and tweaking a few settings over having to spend days re-configuring and printing parts, etc.

    Thanks for all your amazing videos Andrew. So incredibly helpful. FedEx is delivering my Swordfish today! However, I've been flying 100% Spektrum gear. Before I run out and buy a new radio, I'm wondering if it's possible to get a Spektrum Rx to work with the flight controller via the "xbus" port? On my other models I use this port (4 wires) for an external gps module so I don't know if this port offers 2-way communication. Any thoughts or advise you may have are greatly appreciated.

    You didn't say if the sub-elevator brought anything. Would it be possible to mount folding propellers to keep the possibility of coming up from the hole in the event of a drop in the wind?

    • @AndrewNewton

      Finlets didn't make a radical difference. Need more air time to compare. Cant put a folding prop on a wing.

    What size battery are you running. Is it XT60 or XT90. Asking as I'm wanting to order one for mine so I'm not waiting around after it has arrived. I'm not looking to use it for fpv. Just as a powered glider. So guessing my battery might need to be a little larger to help add the nose weight without the fpv gear there to balance. Thanks for your time and advise.
