This is one of the first flights that I had with the AtomRC Swordfish. I actually had this plane for quite a while but was afraid to test it since I don't have a vast experience with RC Airplanes and iNav. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this plane is very stable and relatively easy to fly so I can conclude that it can be an option if you are a beginner. Having that said, I do recommend to get an easy to fly trainer as a starting point such as the FMS Easy Trainer V2: • FMS 1280mm Easy Traine...
The only issue that I had with the Swordfish is that the Elevator servo needed to be adjusted and I almost lost the plane on its maiden flight. Make sure that all the servos are properly aligned and you should be good to go. While the recommended battery is 4S, I used a 3S 2200mAh battery which provided my plenty of power and the plane had a perfect COG when using it.
Using this battery you can expect about 20 minutes of flight time and on a calm day when flying at 60KM/h you should be able to cover a total distance of 20KM.
Using a 4S LION battery pack is going to maximize your flight time and total distance and I think that the Swordfish can be a good long range platform.
Like in my previous video of the Baby AR Wing, I can highly recommend to watch @Painless360 videos about this RC plane and others before making a purchase and after (for setting up your new RC airplane or drone).
Happy flying!

Thanks for the shout-out Gal! Happy flying!
🍻
That's some serious open space. Nice flight. 😎
Yes it sure is. I marked this spot and will be definitely back :-)
what a beautiful plane!
It really is!
Nice fix-wing flying!
Great advise starting with Easy Trainer (1200m), a Bixler, or Sky Surfer X8 (1400-1500mm). All are a similar motor glider pusher design, that make for great first planes. Stable and predictable, not fastest, or most agile.
Beside Painless360, Andrew Newton's channel has a great catalog of flying videos, honest reviews and tips. Seems the AtomRC Swordfish is a general favourite among many pilots flying them this summer.
Thanks man!
Yes Andrew is indeed great as well.
I truely like flying this plane, I just wish I had more free time to do so...
Happy flying!
Awesome flying, Gal!!! 😃
Great airplane indeed!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you! You too!
Do you have a link to the .stl for that nice VTX tray for the Wasp ?
It came with the RC airplane…
@@KremerFPV Wow, great !
nice
Thanks
1:22 you should be aware that the design of the v-tail stabs and elevators is Less-than ideal. specifically, the trailing edges Should be oriented Perpendicular to the center line. the span of the elevator(s) should NOT be truncated; at the stab tips.! this (stoopid) design mistake results in the Damping of responses to elevator inputs.
Thanks!
