Although I don’t expect some who have problems with iron keep to agree with what I’m about to say - which I don’t mind, but Iron keep is one of the best areas in the base game of ds2. Since it’s one of best early places in the game to teach the three P’s of ds2’s gameplay to the player. Being: Perception, Patience, and positioning.
1. Perception - almost every area in ds2 has 1 or more things you can interact with that can change how you deal with it. It’s just depends if you can notice it
2. Patience - knowing when to overextend to avoid choke points and when to bait out groups to be more manageable.
3. Position - always know where your standing, and how to not put yourself into a disadvantage placement. Since this can ultimately lead to either a concise victory or a swift defeat.

@@justinfarts dark souls 2 "scholar of the first sin" is the edition with all 3 dlcs included. The crowns you end getting in those dlcs (which can be blessed with a certain character) belonged to old kings, one of them being the Iron King, the lord of the lava zone you've just beaten
